Bought this to play on my new 4k player. Loved it,

The original was one of my favorite movies growing up. I'm glad they were able to reunite most of the original cast. I also liked the "alternate history" aspect of the storyline, showing how the world changed 20 years after an alien invasion, something rarely seen in such movies. I hope they will make a third movie.

Good movie to recapture the feeling of people working together.

I'm not going to talk about the movie. But just about the steelbook case. Its a nice case with a good design. I just wish that they would have made something nicer with a Alien or the city destoryed rather than fighter jets. It's nice but its not the best steelbook. Captain America 3 and Starwars Force Awakens are still my favorites.

I thought the second installment of Independence Day lived up to its billing I think the critics were wrong but I thoroughly enjoyed it I bought the 3-D version so it was extremely good and nice to see the stars from the first one on there like Jeff Goldblum in the president If entertainment is what you seek I highly recommend it

Soooo my review is more about the product and not the movie itself... Having this played through a Sony Ultra DVD player, High End Stereo receiver and 4K TV..... it ROCKED! Awesome picture, excellent soundtrack and great overall movie experience. Would recommend for anyone looking to show off their home theater!!

Loved the first installment of Independence Day. Had to have the second. Mankind -- that word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps its fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution -- but from annihilation. We're fighting for our right to live, to exist. And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive!" Today, we celebrate our Independence Day!

Independence Day Resurgence is not as great as the original nor as inspired, but it is definitely worth giving a shot to revisit checking in on those pesky aliens that plagued us before and are back again with a vengeance. The 3D effects on this Blu ray are impressive for the eye candy value of it all.

If you were a fan of the first movie, you should like the second even if "you know who" decided not to be part of it. His loss I say. Was it as good as the first ... well no, but it sure wasn't as bad as the critics made it out to be. Good action sci-fi flick that belongs in your collection next to Independence Day.

Was nice to see 99% of the main cast come back for this made it worth watching not as great as the 1st one but worth the watch for Pullman and goldbloom fans they did a great job. If you saw the 1st one I wouldn't miss this and if u didn't watch the 1st one make sure you do before watching this or it won't make as much sense.

Not a great movie but a good sequel just the same, worth a watch!

This movie didn't last long enough in theaters to see it last summer. If you liked the first one, you should enjoy this. Don't know if it stands well on its own if you haven't seen the first one, has a lot of actual characters from and references to that one. My teen son who has seen the original also liked this one.

After all the detractors and naysayers were done criticizing this movie I decided to buy it anyway on Black Friday. I'm really glad I did. I don't know what these critics were expecting but I found it thoroughly enjoyable. Maybe not quite as good as the first but entertaining nevertheless. Glad to have it in my collection.

Fun to watch, but not as good as the first. Wait for a good price.

Although not quite as good as the first one, this movie is a worthy sequel to the original Independence Day. I am amazed that it took this long for it to finally be made. The action, effects and stakes are bigger in this one but I didn't think it had as much heart as the original, that is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

While the original film was in some ways a loving homage to the sci-fi B flicks of the 50's and 60's, the studios did their best to make it appealing to as many audiences as possible. Independence Day was an event blockbuster, and they treated it like a blockbuster. Although Resurgence got a similarly large budget, the filmmakers were clearly not as interested in appealing to mass audiences, and instead went almost entirely for the 50's/60's sci-fi appeal. It's absolutely cheesy, but I don't think there's anything wrong with cheese when it's fun, and I thought Resurgence was a lot of fun. In fact, when the movie ended, I was actually disappointed because I wanted to see what was going to happen next. Since the movie bombed, there's no way that we'll ever see that, so we'll just have to make a guess about that.

WHILE The original is a classic, this is a fun take on a sequel

We missed this in the theater, but are fans of the original Independence Day, so this was a fun stocking-stuffer gift for the family. It's a good sequel to the first movie, but it won't win any awards (except maybe for special effects)! No spoilers, but the surprise ending makes it a must-see if you liked the original.

how can you not go wrong with a sequel like this. normally 8 out of 10 of the movie sequels bomb or just don't hold up to the original. this is the exception. this film does not try to forget the first one I builds on it and weaves it in to where the gap between is seamless and you actually understand and are ok with the period between films. the storyline, like the first, is simple and no big education to understand the special effects are out of this world great, and with all the key people back behind the camera and all the key people back in front of the camera, I cant find nothing wrong with this movie. like all my reviews I am gonna promote the 4k version of this, but regular dvd or regular Blu-ray either one, you really need to see this.

I really enjoyed the original Independence Day, so getting this was a no-brainer (even if it did get some bad reviews). I almost never go to the movies, so DVD/BR purchases work better for movies I think I'll want to see more than once (or part of a series). Lots of deleted scenes & other extras, which is always a plus.
