    I bought this to connect my laptop's old HDD to my computer. It disconnected randomly once on the first day but has been reliable since.

    the enclosure works well and is sturdy but i didn't like the way the drive rested on a metal rail and could be heard to rattle in the case when jostled. fortunately I had some foam tape that came with another drive kit and was able to use it on the back end of the enclosure to prevent the drive bouncing inside the enclosure.

    OK it works as advertised. I was just using it to transfer files from the hd of a broken laptop to the new one. Note that the case will not accept some thicker hds including the one I have. For my temporary use this was not a problem because I left the bare hd connected to the interface for the duration of the process.

    Buy this over Sabrent and you wont regret it. Those are cheap and they will cause USB device errors. DOnt buy an expensive ssd and a cheap 3.0 port because theyre more important than you think especially considering flash memory technology and any device without its own ac power source.

    Metal case and screwed shut. Only complaint is that the HDD flip flops when transported.

    My laptop died, but not the hard drive. While some of my files were backed up by Carbonite, some weren't as they were on "the cloud!" However, this did the trick. I removed the hard drive from my old laptop and using this device, downloaded all the files to my new laptop. It worked great!!!

    Works for good for a permanent replacement but if you want to switch out hard drives quickly you have to take out 4 screws so its not that easy
