At one point, I couldn't even remember what they really were. Until I got this great gizmo. I popped the drives into this enclosure one by one. They came to life and provided info that I've long forgotten. What a bargain!

Gets power right from USB. Works perfect with my MAC, I suggest to anyone who wants to throw away their old laptop but keep their pictures and documents.

Great way to get data off a dead computer

There were adapters that could be used to temporarily plug into a bare hard drive but they were more expensive than this enclosure. As a benefit, the old hard drive is now a portable usb-connected hard drive.
