Best use case: putting an SSD in this enclosure for DIY storage, or cloning a bootable hard drive to an SSD for a system upgrade. In either case, this enclosure gets the job done. Recommended.

I purchased the Insignia™ - 2.5" Serial ATA Hard Drive Enclosure after my laptop crashed. I was able to transport all my documents from my laptop to the external hard drive with my problems and still had plenty of space available.

This enclosure works well for my Toshiba Satellite laptop.

Just what I needed to save the files on my dead laptop.

Great for housing SSD Cards - especially cards that are no longer used in a PC tower but still useful for portable storage.

After doing a mandatory Windows 10 upgrade on my computer (HATE WINDOWS 10), my computer would not reboot. Looking at Windows 10 upgrade reviews many were having the same issue. I thought I had lost ALL of my files on my computer, my whole life really. (I know I should've been backing up - now I am). Anywho, after speaking with Geek Squad they assured me that all my files were still on my hard drive and suggested buying the enclosure to remove my hard drive from the laptop and turning it into an external hard drive. I am sooooooo thankful for their suggestion and this product saved me.

I almost discarded my old computer with the hard drive but then discovered I could have my hard drive removed and placed in this case. I am very happy I did this at such a low cost and I have my files intact. The hard drive enclosure is great and I am a happy camper.

I bought this to use an external SSD with my iMac, because the original HDD was getting very slow. I like the metal construction and that a screwdriver was thoughtfully included. It didn't come with any foam pads (as I've seen other enclosures do), the drive was just left to float inside. However, the biggest negative is that it doesn't support the faster UASP protocol (and in hindsight I probably should have figured this out from the specifications). Since this was going to be the primary drive for my computer that was a deal breaker. Fortunately the Best Buy return process was very easy.

I recently swapped my hard drive with an SSD drive, and put my old hard drive into this enclosure. Not only does it keep the hard drive secure, it basically turns it into an external hard drive - which I now use to back up my SSD drive.

Very simple and easy to use. Does everything it needs to.

Works almost as it should. For some reason the only issue I had was that it would stop my hard drive during a transfer process after some time and then couldn't finish my transfer completely. Not sure what the issue was, but I ended up returning it. Will try a different one to see if it was the case or not.

Needed to replace my existing 250gb hard drive due to size limitations.Inserted new drive into enclosure and attached USB cable, used software downloaded from Seagate to re-image drive. Could not be any easier.

Perfect hard case enclosure. Nothing special but was necessary to hold my hard drive from an old broken laptop I didn't want to get fixed. I am not able to use and pull all my old files. Would recommend to others if needed for same purpose

This external hard drive is exactly what it says it is and exactly what it should be, a very no frills basic SATA to USB 2.5" hard drive caddy. One big upside to this, is that you can remove the end with the controller board and paint it a different color if you don't want it in black since it is an aluminum shell.

Easy assembly. easy operation. just plain easy. great price and better that they had it in stock at my local store.

This is a very easy to use case and anyone can do it!

We recovered the hard drive from an old laptop, popped it into this case and now use it as a backup drive - ultimately practical!
