I took the laptop out of my old laptop that died, placed it in this case and recovered everything onto my new laptop. Makes for a very nice external drive to backup onto or move data from one machine to another.

This worked great, and the price was perfect for us.

My hard drive in my laptop crapped out and I was able to recover everything by popping it in this and plugging into a new computer. Would have cost hundreds to send it out to be recovered. :-)

The case is simply that, just a case for a harddrive that you would like to make an external harddrive. It comes with the newest USB technology so you get faster transfers and the installation of the hard drive into the case is simple and fast.

This isn't the fastest hard drive enclosure if you want to use it to copy your operating system to an SSD, but it will get the job done. As far as using it to store an extra hard drive, it works well. Your HD will be protected inside this thing.

Worked as needed. I had a laptop with that was beyond fixable and I was able to remove the hard drive and use this to transfer needed files to new computer

Purchased the hard drive enclosure with powered sata adapter to recover my data due to a failed motherboard on laptop. The product is plug and play with online support. I highly recommend this product for anyone experiencing a similar dilemma.

Have two of these. No complaints. They can get warm with heavy drive usage, but does what it should with spreading heat and protecting the drive

Lost my laptop motherboard to lightning and bought a new Mac to replace it. Removed the hard-drive before trashing the laptop and put it in the enclosure hooking it straight up to the Mac. Have all MS Office documents, PDF's, music, and pictures! Sweet!

Works amazingly it takes only about a minute to setup and works just like any usb that you’d plug into an computer.

I bought this for a recovery situation and it comes with all the wiring and documentation you'd need to do the job yourself. Unfortunately it was the wrong size for my job - my fault - but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this if it's needed in the future.

Bought this to house my old laptop hd that I upgraded to ssd. Disk install was super easy and write speeds are around 70-100 MB/sec. I would definitely buy another one. Even comes with a screw driver for disk install, in case you don't already own one.

This is a solid hard drive enclosure. Feels sturdy, made of a nice metal with a nice surface. Make sure you get the right size, this is for 2.5 in. hard drives (ssds and laptop hard drive). Your typical hard drive for a desktop is 3.5 in. A little pricey.

I had a portable hard drive that just wasn't working. I did a search and learned that there is a chance that my hard drive could work again with a new case. Got this from BestBuy and replaced the casing. And voila! It did the trick.

Got it to test if the issue with my computer was the hard drive or some thing else. Planning on using it with second HD to back up the new one i ended up installing in my computer.

Good hard drive enclosure for the price. Best buy.
