Have two of these. No complaints. They can get warm with heavy drive usage, but does what it should with spreading heat and protecting the drive

As expected. I needed one when my kid was in college (but we were able to borrow one), and now we have two laptops at home, and the office decided to start putting laptop drives into desktop computers, I'm sure it will get more use.

Fantastic for working on all those older systems limited by USB 3.0. It's beefy, durable & easy to install the 2.5" SSD Drive into the enclosure. *****

I’ve been using this with an old laptop hard drive and Wii U as an external drive for about a year. The old case had the USB plug break. This one has been solid. Works reliably, no errors.

My old laptop crapped out on me because the motherboard went. My husband was able to use this to take all of the data from my old computer and add it to my new. (He's a former geek squad agent.) I don't know what I would have done if it didn't work!

Very happy with the hard drive enclosure. Was able to retrieve my information from my old machine that quit working. Staff at Best Buy were helpful and courteous. Thank you Best Buy!

Couldn't be happier with it. It works fine with my 7mm HDD (I just have to put it in upside down for safety reasons). Once the HDD is screwed in it doesn't move. I accidentally kicked it and I didn't hear the HDD rattle at all, so I'm satisfied.

This case is very nice, its light but sturdy and you don't need any extra power cable to use. My only con is that the connector the case use is unique to it so if you loose it or it gets damaged you can't use the case anymore. I wish they used a normal mini usb like everyone else.

My old laptop was given me trouble; I needed to retrieve files. I removed to hard drive from the laptop and put it into hard drive enclosure; it works like a charm. Very affordable.

Used right away purchase to get files off hard drive that was in a broken laptop. Worked awesome right away, was able to save all pictures and files that I thought I had lost.

Works amazingly it takes only about a minute to setup and works just like any usb that you’d plug into an computer.

Removed old hard drive and installed SSD into MacBook. To our relief and amazement, we were able to recover ALL files from old drive after simple installation into enclosure! Works just like storage device now with MacBook. Awesome!

My girlfriend tripped, drop her laptop and it was ruined! We bought the Insignia enclosure and were able to install the hard drive in minutes so that she could access the data to move it to the new laptop. Now she had a new way to back her data!

Good case if the intention is just to keep a drive as a backup as we tend to use them. Seems a little flimsy for road-worthy "portable" external harddrive use. Regardless, getting drive into and out of the enclosure is very easy.

I've purchased these in the past, for external hard drives that have had issues with the circuitry and wiring, and they work great. I had to return this one, as the hard drive I was replacing was a 4tb, and this enclosure wasn't big enough. Great for 2tb drives and smaller.

My Sony Vaio burned up! Unfortunately I had no backup but this ingenious device saved me and all my personal and work related stuff! All you have to do is connect your hard drive to it and plug it on another computer through USB!

I had never heard of a hard drive enclosure until I was looking for a way to retrieve data from a laptop with a black screen. This worked very well and all data was retrieved flawlessly! Great buy!

I have laptop problem, which don't have backup for it, so, I have to take out hard drive and put in this one to get backup and it work excellent. I have copied 15gb of data in just less than three minutes.

Great enclosure. Got to transfer data from dead laptop. Easy to attach drives into it and swap out drives.
