I also wanted one that would take up very little space. This item was cheap and so I used a rewards certificate to purchase it and therefore it was virtually free. The quality is very sub-par. It looks cheap next to my stainless appliances and doesn't perform that well. I would say this is for a dorm apartment or for someone who just needs CHEAP small starter appliances. It doesn't toast evenly on regular bread or English muffins. I didn't even bother trying bagels. It toasted around the edges and takes way too long. I use setting 5 and still have to send it thru another cycle for it to even get toasted. Its an $11 toaster and performs as such.

It toasts an entire piece of bread (not just the bottom portion, like some I've used). The slots are wide, so I'm sure you can toast bagels too. We use this in our RV. It's great for what we need it for and does not take up a lot of space.
