    They’re Not All Alike!!

Being from the southern part of Fl I thought I’d seen some wild storms but they certainly do NOT compare with the lightning storms here in the central part of the state. There used to be two satellite dishes about 10 feet almost directly in front of my apt which weren’t even being used any longer. I of course had my TV, DVR, BLU-RAY all plugged into a surge protector from a large box retail store. During one of our wild lightning storms (no rain) just thunder (wall shaking thunder) & scary loud lightning which was visible through the closed blinds. Apparently EVERYTHING attached to my Tv got Zapped INCLUDING ALL THE PORTS, Except One, DVR, BLU-RAY & FOUR PORTS ZAPPED! Didn’t realize till the next day when I went to watch Tv in Living Rm & NOTHING!! Cable guy explained how everything was destroyed & I told him about the storm & he said the dish definitely could have acted like a lightning rod if not secured plus, the quality of the surge protector wasn’t that great. I happened to already have a new one from B.B. in the bedroom still in the box as I had recently moved & was still moving things around & he explained that I need to have the B.B. KIND WITH MY MORE IMPORTANT ITEMS PLUGGED INTO THEM!! Since then we Have had at least one or two more of those storms & there hasn’t been any issues. I look to Best Buy for All my electronic needs, even or maybe even, Especially!! a surge protector!! And Mathew, in Customer Service, is the most patient, knowledgeable, & kind young man who I can go in & ask just about ANY question to, & he will either know Immediately, or figure out HOW to find out that answer. Makes shopping there extra pleasant for sure!!

    Good Budget Power Strip

I lost my power strip due to a work mix-up and needed something in stock before bedtime. I found a handful in my local store but this one labeled by Insignia (I don't know who actually makes it) was what I picked for a variety of reasons, mostly the price but just under that was the color being Black to match the nightstand. The power strip offers plenty of plugs for what I need, it has a longer cord than my old one which is a huge help, and it was at a lower price than most of the others which is a key feature for me. Only been using it for a little while now but it looks and works well, like I said the cord is long enough to be able to maneuver the power strip wherever I need it, and because it's black like my night stand it matches and camouflages in with the surroundings. The power button light isn't excessively bright either (and its green, not sure if that is a make or break for anyone but I'll leave that information here for whoever cares....I don't) so it won't keep you up if you need to keep it near your side of the bed.

I'm personally not the biggest fan of the Insignia brand overall but when I was buying my HDTV I was informed that the unit did not come with a HDMI cable. The set I bought was one off the sales floor but I had went in with the intention of buying a bigger unit. When I had decided on the smaller unit, the sales person had already wheeled the bigger set out from the back. When I was informed of needing a HDMI cord for the set I did end up buying, I was informed by the sales person about a combo deal for the HDMI cable and this Surge Protector. I felt bad for the guy since he had wheeled out a TV that I didn't end up buying and I went ahead and picked the combo from him more out of pity and less out of necessity. Long winded story aside, I actually decided to switch out my old surge protector for this one and I was pleased with that decision. The cord is sufficiently long enough and I was pleased that I was able to plug it into an outlet that's a little farther away and that this surge protector reached farther than the unit I had replaced. That said, it does the job it's supposed to. The only real knock is the Insignia branding on the box but then I've never cared for the Insignia brand so that's a minor gripe. If you need a decent, reliable surge protector and are not picky about the brand name on the box then this one should do you just fine.

Bought 2 for 2 laptops I use. Just seemed like a good idea to protect them especially during electrical storms or ice storms. They came with a paper insert stating to not use them unless there was 20' of line between the plug and service panel. HUH? Never heard of anything like this. I have a house built in the 70's and the outlet I would be using would be within 20' of the circuit breaker panel for the house. Contacted by email but told it would take 48 hrs for a response. Hm. So contacted by phone and talked to a very rude individual. Wanted name, address, email address, etc and I would not give to simply get verification of this notification. He even talked over me. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he never did put him on the line. I asked to talk to tech support and he said he was that. Then said he could not answer my question as he was not an electrician. I just wanted clarification of the info that they supplied. I was beyond aggravated. Called my Best Buy and they answered it well enough for me to be comfortable using. I recommend the surge suppressor but don't bother with any support online. Go directly to Best Buy. They really are the Best!

One dark night long ago, the rain, thunder, and lightning seemed ruthless with no end in sight.. I put my faith in the INSIGNIA™ 6-Outlet Surge Protector, plugging in my computer, monitor, speakers, and other electronic devices. I knew I was safe when I flipped the switch and the green Protected light flashes on.. moments later a huge flash of light shines through the blinds followed by the loudest crackle in the world; sitting in the darkness the only light that’s still visible is the faint green Protected light indicator on my INSIGNIA™ 6-Outlet Surge Protector. Would I recommend this product? Absolutely.

Took my family on vacation to Southern California and with everyone having Smartphones they were on them staying in contact and taking pictures of all our Adventures. Needless to say phones would run out of battery power so bought several of these and kids could plug phones in and charge while waiting in lines and riding attractions . Worked perfectly. Kids complained about taking to long to change once they ran phone all the way down but if you plug in before they go completely dead they did a good job of keeping charge up

    Good Basic Surge Protector

This is a fairly inexpensive and basic surge protector. Everything looks god so far, but then again I haven't had any surges and hopefully won't, so its hard to know how well the surge portion of the outlet performs. The main detractor is the position of the plug ins. You can only use 6 slots if you have traditional power cord. I wish one or two were rotated 90 degrees so that you could plug in chargers that have a bulkier plug; or perhaps have one outlet spaced farther from the rest to allow for that possibility. Still, I can't complain too much because it is inexpensive and powers everything I need it to for now.

    Poorly Made Surge Protector

I bought two of these to protect both my TV and computer (along with all of the other gadgets attached to them) since they were cheaply priced. Big mistake. I tried both of them out after getting home from the store, and one outlet on each surge protector was faulty. I couldn't plug anything into those two spots. I simply returned them and went with a couple MONSTER brand surge protectors (found on sale) which work great! Go with a better brand that you know will protect your expensive electronics! The few extra dollars are worth it.

Usually power stripe is a no brainer until and unless you know the kind of equipments you are going to plug in. This one can handle good part of an electric surge that may harm the devices if plugged directly. Tangle free cable helps avoid all the mess of the jumbled mesh. In short it would get your job done and would provide sufficient amount of slots to plug all your devices. Good for a TV setup from my perspective but applications may vary.

A really great bang for the buck. I have no regrets with my purchase that I use to replace my very old non working surge protector. It's very compact and made quick work of organizing a mess of jumbled wires. After loosing my new TV via lighting strikes, I wanted to make sure I had a working surge protector that would protect my electronics. Yes, I would recommend this as a high quality product.

This is a glamorous piece of equipment. However, it's well designed, constructed and functions perfectly. The price (this was a repackaged item) made it appealing and it was black (being able to hide dirt, grime and wear over time). Our household has had great experience with Insignia (Best Buy in-house line of products). They are reasonably priced, have proven to be of equal or superior quality to more recognizable "named brands" and come with very little branding, logos or identifying marks, which I personally prefer.

This strip has a nice feature in that two outlets are always on. Then it has one outlet that you can choose to turn on the three remaining outlets. In other words, whatever is plugged into that first outlet needs to be on, otherwise the other three wont turn on. it's a power saving feature. So lets say that first outlet is the TV plug and the power saving outlets are connected to an XBOX or PS4, then you can't turn on the PS4 unless that TV is turned on first. You can also turn off that feature and have them all be on all the time.

Works fine but come to find out that it was causing issues with my one connect box on my Samsung - 65" Class - LED - MU9000 Series - 2160p - Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR. When switching sources on TV there was a clicking sound coming from outlet causing the power to turn off and on for the DVD player and Fire Stick. Thought I had a faulty T.V at first since I kept getting a black screen.

i bought this to replace a skinny white power strip that had failed. boring color also. Im a black and chrome guy and like durability. riding on the floor around power tools, harleys and hotrods, the powerstrip needs to be sturdy and durable.. this part fit the bill. it can handle the joules and is durable, cord can withstand driving over or wheeling cards/tires over and hasn't frayed yet.

The adapter plug on my new TiVo Bolt was so large it would not have been able to be plugged into the wall outlet either above or below the surge protector which currently contains other home theater devices. I purchased this one solely for the TiVo, enabling the old surge protector to remain in place. It's narrow enough to fit in the limited space available and I'll just assume it will work during any storms or whatever New England weather befalls us.

I needed a power strip with a surge protector to plug my new TV and accessories into. But the plug is behind the triple dresser, which is across from my bed. With limited walk space between to two big pieces of furniture, the thickness of the plug-in for the surge protector was something I didn't consider. But it is a nice one, so I'll use it elsewhere and get another with a close-to-the-wall plug.

Both college students have one of these in their rooms. Between lamps, microwaves, laptops, phone chargers, alarm clocks, coffee machines, and whatever else, the 4 outlets that come in the room are never enough. Granted not all of these items are necessarily being used at the same time. Oh did I forget refrigerator, too? So yes this is a wonderful item to own and use.

I've only tested this to 599-joule but it seems to hold up well. I've got a ton of things plugged into this and they all power on at the same time. I wish they made something like this with more plugs as so many things I use these days need electricity but I'm hoping technology will get to a point soon where I can have 10 or maybe even 12 outlets with protection from Purges.

We now live somewhere with frequent thunderstorms with lightning and power outages. Afraid for our stereo equipment and computers and televisions, we bought this Insignia surge protector strip. So far so good. I'd probably spring for a battery powered back-up surge protector next time just to be sure but this is working well and costs much less than one with a battery back-up.
