Out of the box the surround speakers are pretty weak and even 4 stars would be a stretch. However, upgrade them to even a very cheap, but decent pair of speakers and then this kit is actually very good. It really took my Martin Logan Vision X soundbar to a new level being able to add decent surrounds.

The only wireless feature is that the receiver doesn't have to be connected to the transmitter. But the speakers have wires and has to be connected to the included receiver. And the transmitter has to be wired by HDMI to your Xbox, TV, etc.

The sound synced up great with my existing soundbar. I connected this system via optical to my LG TV, whereas my soundbar is connected to the TV via HDMI ARC. I was very pleased to have found this system that has allowed for surround sound without the need of running wires from the rear of the room to a receiver (an additional expense) located by the TV up front.

Great Speakers For When Sitting Away From TV

Perfect addition to your surround effect if your adding these to your rear or sidewalls (which i did). Just remember that the main box is the one that acts as splitter for your optical cord to connect to your soundbar (if thats the set up you have) so you can have a 5.1 or 6.1 set up. Enjoy your cinema like surround sound as i do. Great job insignia...get yours while supply lasts as these are on clearance.

Don’t know if this is the case with all sound bars or not. What I mean here is, if I don’t power on the rear speakers, the sound bar no longer works. So it’s an all or nothing situation. I would have liked to use the sound bar without the rear speakers from time to time depending on what I’m watching. System sounds and works great otherwise.

I thought I was getting a great deal but there obviously was a reason why. First off, wireless isn’t wireless. Still had a receiver and speaker wires to hide. Then when I had it set up, it wasn’t seamless. I still had to turn on the unit after I turned on the tv. And then I would still have to adjust the sound every time. When I finally got it done, sound and all, after a few hours the unit would turn off. I would turn it back on and after a few minutes it would turn off again. In other words, it would overheat. The sound was actually very good when it worked and would have completed my living room but it was too much trouble. Plus mine was defective. I ended up returning it and they didn’t have a replacement.
