Needed to connect a newer MacBook Pro (USB-C) to an older projector via VGA. This worked with no problems. Better price than Apple's version that does exactly the same thing.

As a presenter I might have been caught if I hadn't checked on my next gig where I had to use the facility's projector - it had the VGA connection - and me with a new Laptop USB-C only output. It is compact, has worked seamlessly for over two years and with several laptops as I have loaned it to others for the same reason.

I needed to add a third monitor for which I had no VGA port on the computer. Just didn't see a need for a VGA graphics card at the time I built my PC...
So if all you have is HDMI and USB type-c display ports and don't want to add a card to you pc, this little external works very well to add a VGA only monitor.

I already had 2 monitors on my Laptop. The laptop screen itself and the TV, connected to the laptop's HDMI port. I had a USB C on my laptop that I wasn't using, and an old monitor that I wasn't using, so I figured I'd go ahead and use this. Surprised to find this when I started looking, didn't think USB C had compatibility with such a port. But it worked! No lag or tearing so far, so I'm happy about it.
