This is my first iRobot. I let it do all my vacuuming. And it does a great job. My dog loves to bark at it. I love that you have a app which you can control it from. Everyone should have one of these!

Design: The Roomba 690’s small size allows it to navigate seamlessly throughout our home. It is about 13 inches wide and almost 4 inches tall. The height is perfect for fitting under chairs, sofas, and other hard to reach areas. The Roomba can be activated by pressing the button on top of the machine or in the mobile app, and I have found both methods to be equally reliable. This is the same for returning the Roomba to its dock. A button is on the top of the Roomba and in the app. I like that the dock is small and does not take up much additional space when the Roomba is docked. Also, the cord for the dock is fairly long, so it gives you flexibility with your placement. Effectiveness: As a first-time Roomba owner, I am amazed by the technology and wish I owned one sooner! There are many angles and obstacles in our kitchen and living room, so I worried about how well the Roomba 690 would be able to navigate and clean effectively, but my worries quickly went away after watching it seamlessly navigate around our home for the first time. The fact that it also detects stairs is quite impressive. Not only can it navigate well, it picks up a lot more than I expected it would! I was also unsure how well the Roomba would perform on medium length, shag carpet but it had no issues. I had the Roomba clean for about 30 minutes the first time (although it can run for up to 60 minutes), and it was already full of pet hair, debris, and dirt. This Roomba will not necessarily replace a full-size vacuum, but it is great for surface level, light duty cleaning. Features: The Roomba 690 is truly an automated, convenient, and low maintenance robot. It is like having our own personal cleaning assistant at home! The iRobot Home App is easy to use and allows you to schedule cleaning times for the week as well as start a clean on demand from your phone. You can even start, stop, or return the Roomba 690 to its charging dock via voice command on Amazon Alexa or Google Home! This just goes to show that iRobot strives to deliver high-tech features and convenience with the Roomba 690, and I cannot think of any other features I wish it had! Verdict: Do not be fooled by its small size, the Roomba 690 is quite powerful and works effectively on hard floors or even carpet. In addition, it navigates seamlessly, despite a variety of obstacles in our home, and features such as scheduled cleaning and mobile app control are useful. The Roomba 690 will not completely replace our standard upright vacuum because the Roomba is not capable of matching its suction power, but the Roomba is perfect for light duty cleaning throughout the week. I continue to be impressed by how effective this Roomba is for its use, and it is nice to have its help with keeping our floors clean!

We have several vacuums at home: Cordless sticks, corded and cordless uprights, shop vacs and some in between. They're all great, but none of them does the work for you. This is our first, and likely not the last robo vac. The point of these is to help in daily cleaning (or every other day). With this model, every Roomba they sell can be optionally controlled via WiFi from a phone (or from Amazon Echo or Google assistant). This is the entry-level model, so the price is more accessible. Other models have better cleaning brushes/suction, bigger dust bins and the top models actually create a map of the house so it doesn't keep on bumping info furniture. Besides the top model, this works by navigating in seemingly random patterns, and has some sensors to either slow down or more or less gently tap furniture and turns away. The cleaning cycle takes one hour. At the end of the cycle, it eventually finds its way back into its charging base and goes back to charge on its own. Interesting to watch the first time. We live in a mid-size house and we used the vacuum in two levels. This vacuum will cover the whole level. The first time we let it loose in the bedrooms, it did a pretty good job at cleaning under the beds, which is always a pain with other vacuums, and went under other furniture without getting stuck. On the main level, it did pretty good also, but it doesn't sense chairs very well so it ends up gently bumping into them. It has not scratched anything (the bumper works very well), the bristles are very gentle on the hardwood floor and hasn't toppled anything. It comes with a 'virtual wall', which is a tiny plastic lighthouse that signals areas that are blocked to the vacuum (the vacuum won't cross that invisible line). The lighthouse can be set to either a line or a perimeter. We're using it to block a playroom, which always has little toys on the floor… Additional light walls or chargers can be purchased separately. It's very easy to clean but the dustbin is rather small, so keep in mind you'll end up emptying frequently. It also comes with an additional dust filter. Not sure how often to replace, they look like they can last a long time. Also, it works with both Amazon Echo (Alexa) and Google Home, to start or stop cleaning schedules. The phone app can be used to program weekly schedules, check on progress, etc. Note: This modes does not 'map' the house, so the app does not show a 'cleaning map'. Only the top models do that. Keep in mind, specially if you have kids or pets, to avoid leaving things like toys, papers, etc. on the floor, or limit the areas where it can wander to. In all, very happy with the new Roomba. We'll likely get another to have on each floor.

I love this little robot vacuum! We have hardwood throughout our house and tile in the kitchen (which lifts up about a half inch), and the iRobot seamlessly navigates over it all. It's controlled by an app, which is super useful to schedule cleanings. It gets up all the extra hair and dust that my broom/swiffer just can't get! It can get stuck in a room or on a sock...so that's the one downside, you do have to pay a little attention to it, in case of that. But, it does shut down, so it doesn't break.

We bought this hoping that we would not need the more expensive versions and it worked out. We use it in our newly renovated basement where our daughter’s play room is. The dust is still settling from other renovations and we have two dogs that drop hair like crazy. I know it is not rated for pets but it helps SO much. It would be best to clean every day because their hair gets out of control and with this, I can just pick up her toys and let it run while she’s napping. Obviously you still need to move furniture and clean sometimes, but for daily keep up, this is amazing. We love the app function because we pick up the house and leave and then can start the roomba.

Bought this little guy to help vacuum up around the house to get dog hair on the carpet and this guy does clean pretty well. I was actually surprised on how good this vacuum cleaned. I love how it can be ran from my cell phone and through Alexa. Overall very happy.

Powerful suction. It has an Cellphone App for programable cleaning envents. Perfect for people with very few time to clean; it does the job for you with a single button hitting. Cleaning when you are away from home.

Keeps the floors clean and does a good job on both carpet and wood floors. App control is a great feature. Cats are hilarious. I didn’t believe the6 would ride it...

Does a really good job especially if you have dog or cat hair. Isn't going to pick up the really heavy stuff. App works well and is fun to keep up with.

I gave two Roomba 690's as Christmas gifts to my daughters. They were excited to use it. The reviews were good and sounded like it's a good tool to have if you have pets, which they do. The girls say it is a little noisy but they can run a cycle when they are away from home, through the app, which they like. It makes life a little easier and they (and the pets) got used to having it around really fast. They are still trying to figure out the path the vacuum wants to take and why, but say they can close it in a room, if that's the area they want it to pay attention to. It fits under the couch, where the dusty hairballs tend to hide! This was absolutely one of the best gifts I have ever given.

I just took out all the carpets in my house and replaced it with the dark hard wood floors. So after reading reviews online and talking to a friend who owns a Roomba, I thought I would give it a try. Now I love it and glad I brought this one which I can control it with my phone.

Love my Roomba vacuum. Start it everyday when I get home and let it do it thinG. Floor always looks good even though we have a husky and there was always dog fur throughout the house! Also love that I could pair it with my Echo and can tell Alexa to start it for me without having to use my phone!

This was our first robot vacuum. We went with the 690 because it had good reviews, wasn't the entry level model and we really didn't need anything more. The app control is awesome and helps me fit cleaning into my routine. While it's not something I would run (yet) while away from home, I usually start it up as I'm getting ready for work 2-3 times a week. Not lugging out the floor vacuum every two weeks has been great and it lives right under a set of drawers out of site. We haven't had any problems with this model and moving it from floor to floor is not a problem...one vacuum is enough.

Wish I had gotten one of these a long time ago. With the ability to turn on from the app or Alexa, I can get it started before I leave work. Be sure to download the app so you can update as needed. I switched phones and didn’t do this immediately and noticed some areas were not cleaned well. After the update everything was back to normal. The only con is that replacement filters are not available in stores so they have to be ordered from website. I have 2 cats at home and with the ease of use the cat hair is well controlled. Saves me a lot of time daily

THE ROOMBA 690 IS GREAT , CLEANS THE FLOORS WHEN I SHOP , COOK , OR SLEEP. THE GOOD THING IS ,THE ROOMBA IS ALWAYS READY TO CLEAN. WITH THE ROOMBA ALSO CONTROLED BY MY PHONE IT IS READY TO CLEAN BEFORE THE VISITORS ARRIVE ,ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK OR SCHOOL.

This little machine packs a powerful punch as a vacuum cleaner. Having the smartphone iRobot app makes it even more powerful -- for example, sitting in a meeting two miles from home, I started my Roomba's cleaning cycle with the touch of a button. You can also pre-program the times you want Roomba to go to work, for up to seven days in advance. Cleaning the dirt trap is super-easy. I was surprised how much dirt and crud Roomba picked up the first time through the house, even without a pet in the house.

The iRobot - Roomba 690 works as advertised. You just push the button on top of the machine or use the app to activate it and goes about its business.

I wanted to get my wife one of these for mother's day as a gift and one the primary reason for getting this model was the ability to connect this to Google Home. It's been a great choice as this has cut down almost completely the amount of time my wife has to sweep and the ability to tell Google to get the robot going is definitely pretty cool.

Great item for a mid range vacuum. Works well and enjoying the freedom to run it when I’m not home

This thing is very cool and works amazing. Love how I can control it all through my phone in the Roomba app.
