Customers enjoy the Roomba 690's excellent cleaning performance, ease of use, and pet hair removal capabilities. The app control and scheduling features are also frequently praised. However, some users find the navigation could be improved, and the noise level is a concern for a few. The small dustbin size and price point are additional drawbacks mentioned by some customers.

Our cats finally met their match!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.iRobot - Roomba 690 App-Controlled Robot Vacuum I live in a carpeted 900 square feet apartment with my wife, 8 years old son, and 2 cats. We have a shark for normal vacuuming and a Bissell wet vacuum which we use once a week and once a month respectively to keep the house clean and avoid allergies, and funny smells when we have guests coming. Which is OK if the both of us didn’t have full time jobs and so many sport practices and activities to take our son to. So here comes the Roomba and what is saved us in time and agony (and some time fights on who’s turn to vacuum is it today!). This little devil did way more than what was expected of it in terms of accuracy, cleaning, and cat hair removal. And we will be using it every day to keep the carpets clean, and our cats somewhat freaked out (No cats were harmed in this review). I will start with the cons because the only con I found is the price, but this is very normal considering the technology and if you want to be lazy, you have to pay up! The pros are: Very easy to get it to start, just pull out the battery isolator, plug the dock in electricity, place the Roomba on the doc, let it charge for a couple of ours, and while doing so, you can connect your new Roomba to your home network by downloading the app from the google or App store depending on the maker of your phone. Connecting to your home network is very easy, it took less than a minute, and that's including linking it to my Google home (it can be linked to google home, Alexa, google assistant on phones that support it. I can’t attest to Iphones since we do not own any). After a while on the charger, I had many options to start the Roomba, I could do it by pressing the clean button on the machine, or by using the provided Roomba app, or by telling my android phone with Google assistant: Ok Google..please ask Roomba to start cleaning (which I did). Roomba moved out of its dock, started a not so high vacuuming noise and found its way around my apartment, and boy it did clean (check the pictures, this was collected in 15 minutes only from a carpet that was vacuumed 3 days ago!). Roomba moved easily between my many pieces of furniture and never got stuck once, more over, it ran over a charging cable without eating it or shredding it to pieces. And its height of less than 4 inches gave it an advantage over my shark by going under furniture without the need to lift anything. Roomba left little track marks on the carpet unlike my Shark (some will say marks mean more cleaning power), but I liked that, because the pattern of Roomba is random. Roomba also comes with a little virtual barrier that you can turn on to create a virtual wall that Roomba can’t cross or set it up to make a halo to protect a small area of about 4 feet from being approached by Roomba (useful in case of pet food, drinking water). I asked Roomba to end cleaning using Google assistant so it stopped and asked me if I wanted it to go back to its charging base which I agreed to, and it's magic! Roomba went back to its dock and started charging again. I am super satisfied by this Roomba, and I can say it's a perfect addition to any small apartment with pets in it. The app can schedule Roomba to run different programs 7 days a week.

Expensive but not effective
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought on positive review from Consumer Report but quickly discovered limitations. 1. It was not compatible with my Linksys router. I discovered this without iRobot help after three hours and used a different brand of router. 2. App has no features except schedule. 3. Did not even find certain rooms in my house. 4. Did not pickup small particles like sugar or items like smaller leaves. 5. Did not always make it home to charging station. 6. It wandered aimlessly and missed larger sections of the floor while repeatedly covering others. 7.Had small dustbin and no obvious warning it was full. Dust bin fell apart after third emptying. 8. Quite expensive for limited performance. Built around gimmick of Alexa link, which only turns it on. And turned me off. I am returning it for the Eufy. It's remote promises better control and it should vacuum just as well for $200 less.

Not really worth the hype
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay I have had this for about 3 weeks now. While it does clean what it goes over, the roomba is far over priced for what it is capable of. We do not move anything around and this thing loses its mind on several occasions. Again, I will re-iterate it does clean well, but not all areas you would expect. So if you have $300 plus dollars to waste to brag about a vacuum cleaner that does half the job and continually cleans the same area and gets lost please do so, but if you want truly clean floors wait an buy a Dyson. I really wished I would have as this does half the job.

Not sure I would buy another
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a large open area house and 2 pets and this robot vac works good for controlling the pet hair around the house. However I’m not really sure it is worth the price. It get stuck on/under everything!! And constantly get errors to my phone that it is stuck again and can’t finish the cleaning job. Ex). I have a normal stainless steal Samsung fridge and it constantly tries to jam itself under there all the time and gets stuck. Overall it saves me some sweeping time, but I don’t know if I’d ever buy another one again.

Good but expensive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good product, but pretty expensive for a small vacuum. Nice if you have pets, less work for yourself and it lets you know when it’s full.

Not worth the cost
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great idea, but when you buy the cheaper option for this which I did you do not get a great deal of value. To be fair typically whatever this goes over it does pickup, but it is terrible in terms of coverage. Battery lasts approximately one hour or more, but this guy is directional impaired and truly not worth the $399 price tag. If you feel as though you need this spend a few more dollars and get the Roomba or other brands that maps the environment or spend the hour that this runs trying to direct it where it needs to go. I definitely would no t recommend this item.

Not very good
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hoping to like this but I don't. I waited awhile to test it out for a bit. Very dissapointed. It goes back to the same area over and over again and does not clean rooms thoroughly. I have to stop it all the time and move to places it does not go to itself. There's no reason it should be missing any parts of the rooms because I pick up everything that might get in the way. Crappy overpriced product.

Second one
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Buying a second one to give as a gift after having good experience with our own. Wish the prices would start migrating down since decent competition has started to be available.

It’s okaaay, but could be better for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Should never be called a vacuum, it’s a sweeper. Has a hard time to go back home, bumps into same place over and over again. Expensive for what it does.

Awesome partner in the War on Dirt
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Roomba-690 Pros: Gentle when it runs into things Moveable barrier boundary works great Does a great job of picking up pet hair from multiple surfaces Goes under and reaches the hard to reach places Didn’t fall down my stairs App is very simple and easy to use Cons: Bit pricey The dog isn’t too fond of it No other ones found yet After listening to friends and coworkers raving about their Roombas, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and try one out. I now know why people LOVE their Roomba, it really is not hard not to. To give perspective, I live in a one bedroom apartment with hardwood floors and several rugs of varying ply length and a very hairy Australian shepherd. Cleaning the floor is not a difficult task but more of an annoyance as it involves both vacuuming as well as sweeping the floors. With my dog, there is always a steady supply of hair build up so you really can’t wait too long between cleanings. This is kind of the reason I went the Roomba route. I set Robby up to charge and then turned him loose and was not disappointed! The path he takes is so random you would think that there is no way that he will actually go everywhere and in anyway clean the place. But somehow, he doesn’t get stuck in a corner and is able to do a stupendous job of cleaning the place. So good that his little tray filled up quickly and I needed to empty it. What I was even more skeptical about was the stairs I have in my apartment. I expected to her a crash and find Robby at the base of the stairs, but nope, Robby was able to figure out the drop off and turn. My dog was less enthused by Robby. She sniffed it but when he took off so did she. She mostly is good enough to stay out of his way and avoid him. I let Robby run into my ankle just to make sure that if Robby snuck up on her that it would not hurt hear; surprisingly gentle. Another great advantage is that it comes with a little pillar that you can use to set a boundary where the Roomba cannot go so if you have a room you don’t wanted cleaned or want to create a safe space for your pet, you can. I will add that I do not take advantage of the schedule cleaning capabilities as I have been told stories and read many where this can be an absolute disaster for people with pets. My dog hasn’t had an accident in years, but why chance it. Overall, the Roomba 690 does a great job of cleaning the floors in your steed.
