    I do not see how this has so many good reviews

    I just bought his a few hours ago, i was hoping to use it to keep up after 3 cats a bulldog and an elderly mother who leaves crumbs everywhere she goes. Really feel i wasted my money. Although this unit does pick up debris you almost have to put the debris in front of it or you will never see it pick it up. It can not find its home base when you press return home button. It does not clean a whole room or even a half of room. Seems to spend the vast majority of time under my sofas. I just completed hardwood floors in my home and had a small amount of saw dust from when i was sanding. When Rosey did finely find the saw dust it just blew it around and left it. And went and bumped into something else. 3 times i had to put it in the location of the saw dust to this point in time the saw dust is still on the floor. But now spread out as it blew it all around. It has no sense of direction and will not clean a room. It just goes until it bumps into something than turns and goes till it bumps into something. Meanwhile you are hoping that it will turn and pick up the debris right in front of it. It wont it will turn before than. But I’m very sure under my sofa looks great. Even under my kitchen cabinet. I had some debris next to one of my walls and was excited to see it going straight down the wall only to see it go over the debris and have it exit behind rosey. The 3 arm brush was on the wrong side of the wall so it never picked it up. You can pretty much forget it ever making it back to the spot in the reverse direction. I also bought one of the mops and at this time i am really considering returning the 690 and cancelling the mop as it hasn’t come in anyway and getting my money back, very disappointed. I surely would not recomend this to anyone. If you just want to be able to say you have a robot vac than buy it. It’s cheap enough. But if you actually want it to do what they say it will. Seriously consider your options and make sure you can return it. I bought this because it had so many great reviews and now i am wondering where these reviews came from. Or if they were real at all. Are you telling me that the over 1500 reviews on Best Buy website totaling 4.5 out of 5 were completely happy with. Their unit ? I didn’t want it to do anything more than what they said it could do. Am i the only one who has had a bad exsperience with it, or are my expectations so high that i want what i buy to actually work ?

    Needs constant attention

    It only docks itself 50 percent of the time. The dock is in a good location on a hard flat floor. I’ve cleaned the contacts over and over and over. It will rub around on the dock a couple times then it gives up and drives around the house some more. When I carry it to the dock and place it there manually it takes a lot of fiddling to get a connection. Today I told it to clean and the battery was dead because it didn’t charge. I finally called the company to get some help. They went through the checklist and finally said “monitor it’s behavior and to let them know if it has more trouble”. I told them I’ve been “monitoring” it for three months since I bought in and it’s always had these problems. That’s why I’m calling. They were still no help. Said to “keep monitoring”. The only reason this thing costs $300 is because it’s supposed to be automated. It requires constant attention to keep it charged. So I’ll take more time out of another day to call them the next time it fails to dock. Which will probably be tomorrow. Hopefully they will eventually help. Terrible customer service policy!

    Terrible product, better robot-vacs out there

    My wife and I had long been on the fence about getting a robot vacuum to aide us in our weekly chores of sweeping and vacuuming our 800 sq-ft apartment. Now that we have a cat, it was becoming a much more regular requirement. We were very excited to purchase our first Roomba from our local Best Buy store. While it certainly picks up dirt, dust, pet-hair, the navigation on this unit is terrible. It literally ping-pongs around our apartment with no systematic navigation. The only thing is did well was suck. It struggled on fairly low-pile carpet as well. We gave the bot a week to improve, but it would get lost and run out of battery while searching for the dock. We weren't about to dish out $900 for the Roomba 980, so we chose to return the 690 and go with an alternate brand. Our 690 has been replaced with a $300 Xiaomi Mi Robot Vac and we are so much happier. It's on par with the $900 Roomba 980 if that says anything. We had high hopes for the little 690, but it lacks the quality and is not worth even half of what it's MSRP is. Steer clear of this one.

    Poorly made device. After hitting my dogs water dish apparently the cliff sensor went bad because it kept saying error code 6. It is just over a year old. It took two times to get someone who could answer my question about options. I was told by iRobot customer care that they have a maintenance option for $110 but it wasn't available to me because I had replaced a part. When told that I could put the old broken part back on they said that they reviewed all of the documents but said that maintenance wasn't available to me and that I am being offered an incredible deal to have to "opportunity" to buy a new one for 25% off... For a meer $200 plus shipping! . No thank you. I'll go buy a Shark instead.

    This is a great idea, but when you buy the cheaper option for this which I did you do not get a great deal of value. To be fair typically whatever this goes over it does pickup, but it is terrible in terms of coverage. Battery lasts approximately one hour or more, but this guy is directional impaired and truly not worth the $399 price tag. If you feel as though you need this spend a few more dollars and get the Roomba or other brands that maps the environment or spend the hour that this runs trying to direct it where it needs to go. I definitely would no t recommend this item.

    Sorry, but for me this really did not do that job. If you have pets, forget it. Either this thing was getting stuck under my couch or closing itself in the bathroom or just going around forever trying to find the home base. and yes, home base was placed just how it should of been. My husband also said it just started out of the blue while I was away on vacation. The other big problem I had with it is it takes so long to vacuum an area that you end up spending more time cleaning out the vacuum then the vacuum actually saves you. I returned. definitely not something I would recommend.

    Purchased for my wife for Christmas. Her old Roomba had stopped working properly. One of the bumper sensors had failed. I have the new parts to repair it but never seem to have the time to get it done. Thought this would be a nice surprise. Maybe one day I'll get the old one fixed and she would have two. She set it up and within the first day the new one started damaging a floor runner. She cleaned up the mess and set to run again. Next time it ran it damaged another rug. According to her this is common with this model. Her older unit didn't seem to have these issues.

    This item is not recommended. It keeps getting stuck under furniture and fixtures such as kitchen cabinets, and can never find its homebase. Even when commanding it to go home after a clean, it will run for hours around the house until the battery runs out rather than dock and stop cleaning (despite the homebase located in a clear and prominent location in living room space). Customer service is awful. The software is buggy, and the device is much too noisy and loud during operation. This product is overpriced, defective, and not ready for the market. Do not buy.

    Really wanted to like the new Roomba. I have another that I moved upstairs. It worked well for many years. This one did not. It was exceptionally loud, clunking over every grout line on my tile floors. It even was incredibly loud on my hardwoods. While it did clean the floors, it rarely made it home, finishing a job. Also, it only came with one “no go” beacon that only worked in the straight line mode, not the more interesting arc setting. I returned it after only about 5 uses and am now on to the Neato brand.

    I have a samsung robot vacuum that is smart, does not get stuck and does an ok job. I got this irobot rumba and first use, it is horrible. Stuck 4 times, barely cleans and seems to have to ryme or reason to its process. The samsung is at least giving off the appearance it has a process and mission, iRobot just goes willy nilly here and there. it has gotten stuck three times in the same place, would be nice if it learned, guess not. This one is going back to the store its not for me!!!!

    I purchased this with great expectations. The first week it worked well. The second week, I noticed it was dying in the middle of a job and sending me the report on my phone that the job was completed. You can only program it to clean once a day while you are gone. It has trouble finding the home station once the battery gets low. Not pleased at all. The battery life is the same on the higher priced models but doesnt last 60 minutes.

    It vacuumed the floor repeatedly even though it had already gone over that spot five times. Then it would finally vacuum the other spot and push the dirt against the wall most of the time. Then it went over the rug and showed an error message. The rug has minor grooves and is a little thick. I don't know why it would have a problem with that. I don't have the patience to figure out why, nor would I try another

    I had trouble from the beginning. The tab protecting the battery connections was already pulled out and outside the plastic bag. I suspect it had been returned before. It wouldn’t connect to my network or return to its base. Nothing worked correctly. I was very disappointed and opted to return.

    It gets caught on everything and the moment you clear it, it's back in whatever it was stuck on. The virtual walls are battery-wasting and mostly useless. It congratulates itself at the end of every job, no matter how many times it has messed up. We nicknamed it "W" because, "Mission accomplished." Fail.

    This vacuum will die under the bed because if it sees a dark are it thinks it’s a drop off and stops... and stays there till it dies. Also cleans in a random pattern rather then a back and forth pattern. A complete waste of time and money!

    I unit is too big to ceal spaces in between chairs and dining table and in living room. Also need a more powerful cleaner with lay out memory, so i will buy a more efficient unit in the summer

    Bought this for christmas.. the roomba never charged so we called roomba and they sent a new charger base and it still didnt work.. they told me to charge it for .. 16 hours...?? So we did and it still didnt work.. we took it back..

    I live in a house that has older style radiators. On the first run, the robot got stuck on one of them and it scratched the top of the device pretty badly... all because it couldnt detect it.
