I must say I really love my iRobot, or Darla, as she's been named. Darla is one lean mean cleaning machine. I was worried about how she would do cleaning hardwoods and going over rugs and then into bedrooms with carpet but she has surpassed all my expectations and has my house looking better than ever. If I had to say a negative thing about her it would be that I wish the battery lasted a little longer (carpet definitely runs it down faster than when it's on the hardwoods), but overall it was well worth the money and it saves me a tremendous amount of time in my cleaning routine.

This is my second Roomba. The first Roomba was 500 series model purchased in 2009. The improvements in the 870 are significant. The biggest benefit is ease of emptying and cleaning the rollers. We have long-haired dachshunds and the old brush rollers were difficult to clean. I also like the red light feature that indicates the bin needs emptying. The biggest advantage is that is much quieter in operation. I've had it for two months and am very happy. It is programmed to clean our main traffic areas every night and the floors are spotless (in spite of two dogs tracking in leaves and grass every time they go out plus shedding). It is saving me a lot of work.

This was my first purchase of a robot vacuum. I have 2 dogs that shed like crazy so it really helps in the day to day upkeep. It does not like bathmats or kitchen sink mats. The only cord it has a problem with the iPhone. It will jam if it gets a hold of that. I do recommend it to anyone who have pets that shed. I do with it had a larger trash capacity.

Wife purchased the roomba to save us some time in between work, school, gym and our 2 fur babies. She was having to clean up the house and sweep almost every day since our 2 doggies roam the house freely during the day. She's set it to start in the morning before work and while we are walking the doggies in the early eve. We have a 1500 sq/ft house but have closed a could of doors to keep roomba out. We want the doggy room and main part of the house cleaned over everything else. Roomba does a good job. Con: Wished it actually remembered the structure of our rooms instead of being so random The digital walls are nice, but would have liked them to be batter savers and able to leave them on. We have to turn them off and on when roomba is starting.

This little unit helps pick up dry dirt from hardwood floors very well. It's very quiet and I cannot smell any dust while it's cleaning. The best part is that it can also pick up hair without getting clogged.

I had high expectation for this device since Consumer Reports gave it the highest score of all the robots they reviewed. This 870 Roomba picks up things well on carpet and hardfloor but I can still find things to manually pickup after. Nothing beats a human eye! The algorithm to clean can be improved. The robot went over the same old spots while there were other areas in the house it had not gone to.

The roomba 870 works amazingly well in my house, it picks up almost everything in its path, but it does happen to get itself wedged underneath the couch, but after awhile it learned where it always gets stuck and it figures out how to avoid the problem areas. Other than that, it does really good on tile, rugs, and carpets, and my dogs don't seem to be afraid of it, I would highly recommend the 870 for someone with pets.

Yes,it is pricy, but the 870 has some nice features. The rollers handle long hair and pet hair easily and require little maintenance. it is easy to empty the dust bin. The controls are not difficult to master and programming was easy to setup and change. It does appear to be a wanderer but covers the floor, including a hallway with few problems. It definately does a better job of cleaning under furniture than I would regularly do. It was a little surprising how much stuff it can pick up.

Sometimes you purchase something based on what you think it will do, but aren't sure it will actually do it. This product works. Easy out of the box, simple programming and very easy care. The invisible wall barriers are a great feature is excellent as well. I will say that I pick up my chairs to get the legs out of the way. Not because I have to, but it does make the robot work faster. It will work around the legs (interesting to watch actually), but is not as efficient that way.

This is amazing for carpets and under furniture like beds/dressers/etc. The level of dust on top of furniture has decreased dramatically, and this has been a huge help during normally sneezy pollen season - I am much improved with this running daily. I have dark hardwoods - this does fine on hardwoods - I recommend to sweep and then run this, or vice versa - but highly recommended for rugs and carpeting.

The Roomba is great for maintaining a clean surface from day to day with a deep clean from a traditional vacuum every few weeks. Works great on pet hair and gets underneath the lowest of furniture. Does occasionally run out of battery before it can make it back to the dock if it has been set to roam for 90 minutes or so and it has wandered to a far room in the house.

Works really well picking up the pet hair both on the area carpets and wood floors. Lots less vacuuming needed in this house with 3 pets. Would be better if bigger compartment for what it picks up as it does need cleaning fairly often and it isn't such an easy dump as to get all the hair I need to vacuum the filter and screen. Overall - extremely happy with this product.

The Roomba picks up everything on our hard floors as well as our carpets daily. It picks up more cat hair than I thought was possible. It has helped our air quality and makes cleaning these areas much easier since the floors are always clean!

We upgraded from a 500 series to this 800 series model and what a difference! We have 4 house cats and this one picks up cat fur so much better than the old one it's unbelievable. It also has a much larger hopper to hold more dirt than the lesser models. The mechanism on this one stays much cleaner with the rubber rollers rather than the brushes so there is less manual cleaning required. That's not to say you can forget about it but is a lot easier and quicker to do. It still presents a problem with oriental rug fringe because of the swirling brush, so we just place a virtual wall along the fringe and it stays away from it. This does not replace a standard vacuum. you still need one to do touch ups and hard to reach areas, but it makes the task a lot less cumbersome. Overall we are very pleased with this purchase.

This Roomba is fantastic. As I get older I find myself not taking out the vacuum as much and relying on a swiffer. The Roomba makes my life so much easier (and happier). Easy to operate - just set the timer and relax. When finished it docks automatically. Will be buying 2 more for each of my daughters for Christmas. I definitely recommend the Roomba.

I'm beginning to love this product. Pros: smooth operation, less noise. If it's noisy then something is stuck in the rollers. The error warnings alert you to different issues. Cons: doesn't dock very well. It's having a hard time finding its docking station (it's momma). Gets caught on the sliding door track often, even if I position the virtual wall. Definitely needs a child lock. My kid turns out on every single time.

This robot vacuum makes my life easier! The new improved rotors on the back of the vacuum removes a looooot of dust. I'm using it 100% on hardwood floor and the results are amazing. Ideal to go under the bed, sofas and all those places that I never clean.

I love the iRobot vacuums! This is my second one and I plan on sticking with them. Very convenient and efficient. It keeps dirt from stirring up like sweeping does. Perfect for my hardwood floor home. I wanted to give it a 4 1/2, because I'm not convinced that it learns the house but a great product overall.

If you are looking for a robot vacuum cleaner, this one will get the job done. It does a nice job of cleaning the entire area that you set it in and it does it all in a timely manner. The only complaint I would have though is that the vacuum would constantly run into the doors within my house, so there would be a couple of loud bangs on each door during the process

This device is quite a Christmas gift. We have reduced our vacuum and floor care time dramatically since we programmed the iRobot to navigate our floors. I recommend this brand because it was easy to set up and is simple to maintain.
