This one (more expensive), but works since you need USB ports, C ports, etc. on the Mac Book which it doesn't have but this hub has these.

This dock is great for MacBooks since they have shifted to only using USB-C ports. This dock is modular and portable, so you do not have to carry around a big docking station. Also, the individual connectors can be used without the main dock. We appreciate that you chose a j5create mini dock.

I really love all the different options that come with the set and how easy it is to configure them to what works best for you. The hard storage case that comes with it is really nice as well!

Make is plastic, so it apparently feels cheap. Tested to see if all ports work, they do. Carried with me jus in case i need to externally display to external devices. Be advised that this device is not snug or secure to my MBPro ports. The docking device plastic housing floats purely by the metal connection to the MBPro thunderbolt 4 ports. This type of connections could wear out your MBPro ports. With slight touch, they give a little.

My 2015 MacBook Air had two USB ports and one SD port, but the Pro lacked any ports at all. The j5create does it all and then some. Nicely made and connects perfectly to the Pro. Comes with storage kit.

Special Hub is needed for new M1 MacBook Pro

A salesperson helped me choose all the parts I would need to set up my home office. I was never able to get 2 monitors to work simultaneously. A friend was recently at my house and I expressed my frustration at not being able to get my set up to work as intended. He checked with online forums and learned the dock I purchased, at the recommendation of the salesperson will not allow me use two monitors at once, even though there are enough ports. I actually need a model made by Hyperdrive that is especially designed to work with the new M1 MacBook Pros allowing 2 external displays to be used simultaneously. There are 2 Hyperdrive models that will work, one is a Dual 4K HDMI 10 in 1 USB-C Hub, and the other is a Dual 4K HDMI 3 in 1 USB-C adapter.

Posted .With MacBook running an M1 chip, it will only be able to support (1) external display with PnP devices. That is the hardware limitation. With M1 Pro and M1 Max, it will support multiple displays. The other option is the JCD543 or JCD542, these Docking Station are PnP and requires drivers. The JCD389 is a plug and play mini docking station so it will work with Big Sur. The JCD389 modular adapters will let you choose the ports that you need. The individual adapters can also be used without the main dock as well.

With that said, this one is way better than the one apple came out with. However, be careful of dropping your computer. This can be detrimental where upon you might need to purchase another extension if it breaks. I have this happen with the apple product. It was disaster. I did not want to purchase $200 of extensions.
