"no you won't need to plug the AC power in" when in fact, YES you do, you will need to or it will not work correctly. so before you go looking to buy this. make sure you have an available power plug otherwise, you will get connected/disconnected sounds your computer makes non-stop until you unplug it.

This is what they sold me on getting. Once I got home to test it I realized only one port charged.... the rest of the ports were only good for data transfer. What a waste of money for me.

Unfortunately, by the time i started to use the USB hub it was passed the return date allowed by best buy. When i contacted J5Create, they were helpful but i had to spend $ to return the product before they would send a replacement. I chose not to spend $20 to return a product that costs $30 to buy.

The USB 3.0 cable is included and is not something you need to purchase separately. However the item isn't a high quality item. The construction and appearance may fool you. Its another lower quality, cheaply made part that doesn't last long. I purchased this USB hub on June 2nd, 2016. On June 26th, 2017, the USB hub was completely dead. None of the ports worked or recognized anything plugged into the ports. Trying a different USB 3.0 cable between the hub and computer did not fix the problem. So, its obviously the hub that died. The hub died a little over 1 year after I purchased it, so the 1 year warranty already expired by a couple weeks. Therefore I'm out the that I paid for this hub. Its not worth the high price if it only lasts 1 year.

Posted .It's possible there may be available updates for your computer. Being behind on updates could cause the device to not function as intended and in order to rule everything out we recommend contacting the Manufacture (of your computer) Support in order to have them assist you in properly updating your computer. Also try with another computer or USB ports.

USB 2 drives worked okay USB 3 did not

Probably works okay on windows I don't really know but since I don't own any Windows computers that's really a nonissue for me

Buyer beware, 14 day return/exchange policy

I learned this today with their 14 day return/exchange policy. Item conveniently stopped working 20 days after purchase. I was told I have to contact the manufacturer. I told them to keep this garbage. Never buying another item from best buy!

Drops connections

Not as good as I had expected

Should have exchanged it

I thought it might have been my devices, but on both a Mac and PC, various devices simply disconnect or aren't seen. Devices on PC are primarily peripherals such as joysticks, pedals, steering wheels, etc. I have barely used it; tried again recently with the hopes of it working, but now (on PC) I am getting messages that there's been a USB error and that the computer has to be restarted... WHAT? Went online hoping I might still be under warranty, but it was shelved for so long I forgot about it. I plugged in an old 4-port powered Belkin (without restarting anything) and it works perfectly. I'll likely never buy another product from this manufacturer.

New out of the box never worked correctly

I bought about a three weeks ago, but my wife hadn't opened the product until today to start using it. Only one of the seven usb ports operates - the port nearest the ac port. The item is new out of the box, yet none of the other six ports operate. At all. I wish I had read the reviews on this product before buying it. You take a major risk buying J5 products as apparently they do not have quality inspections. Please, do not roll the dice on this product. Save yourself the time and money and buy from a better company.
