    Sounds good but serious quality control issues

    I wanted to like this speaker; I really did. I own a Google home mini & love it. I tried the normal-sized Google Home since I wanted a second Google Assistant device with better sound quality, and, while that device worked brilliantly, the sound quality was a bit too muddy for me. The JBL seemed perfect as it retained most of the same features, and was portable as well. The sound quality of the Link 20 is brilliant as would be expected from JBL, but, after exchanging one Link 20 due to the random popping noise that others have described, only to find a completely different electrical problem with this second one, I just can't recommend it as there seems to be a legitimate issue with the way these things are designed/engineered. As stated before, the first speaker sounded great, but had constant popping during music playback, and the second speaker makes a very noticeable high pitched ringing sound whenever plugged in & charging. It's not really noticeable when actual music is playing, but any time it's not playing and the device is plugged in, the constant ringing is just too annoying to deal with. Again, I really wanted to like this device, but unfortunately, they're junk. They need some engineering fixes to take place.

    Limited Google Assistant

    One of the major features of this speaker over other JBL speakers is that it comes with support for Google Assistant. However, it seems that you can only link one Google account at a time, which pretty much means that only one person can use all the available features, as it does voice detection to access information available from your account (Calendar, Location etc). Others can do things like play music or Netflix, but the most interesting and useful features will be limited to only the person that links their account. If you are just looking for a plain old BT speaker, then go with JBL Charge 3. It has twice the battery life, it can act as a powerbank to charge your other devices too, and you can get it for almost half the price. If you are interested in a Google Assistant capable device, then look at Google Home or something else. Overall as a speaker it's ok. I expected it to be a bit louder. It has pretty poor performance in bass tones for my taste, but otherwise the sounds is very clear.

    The speaker itself is probably pretty good, but the Google Home app that controls it sucks. Contrary to the instructions, you can't make calls with it. There are no controls to adjust the speakers sound--like bass & treble. The app doesn't have a way to easily change WIFI networks. And once you disconnect from one, it's almost impossible to connect to another. The Google Assistant also cannot play music from your personal library on Google Play Music. It only plays Google play stations. And as usual, Google tech support NEVER responds to emails.

    Buyer beware

    At first, everything went well. But now connectivity is intermittent with Google voice saying, "Something went wrong." Searching online I see that this is a common problem. I would wait a few years for this technology to mature. I was so enchanted at first that I bought two of these. Now I am stuck with $400 worth of property that does not work half the time. I would get my money back now if I could.

    Too many bugs

    Decent speaker with ok sound quality that's ruined by bugs and glitches. This speaker has connection issues with WiFi, the sound is flat with 0 bass, and it only gets song requests right about half the time. I bought a HomePod and it blows this speaker away on every level.

    I wanted to love this speaker. Sound quality was ok and having google assistant seemed it was going to be a PLUS. BUT I would spend 20 minutes trying to connect via Bluetooth that I just gave up and ended up using my BOSE WIRELESS SPEAKER FOR MY work out instead

    i wouldn't recommend this speaker as its sound is slightly muddy, and the google assistant does have a bit of a delayed response in comparison to any google home speaker. it can't work off of say a phone's tether, so why bother having a portable smart speaker?

    I have loved my speaker, but it has completely died after owning only around 19 months with light usage.
