    Good Looking, but Flawed

This is a great looking receiver for sure, and I understand JBL’s intention to capture the new generation of users into the world of home theater. But the result is a bit mixed. Although MA510 is a decent receiver, it’s clear that much compromise has been made to make it as sleek and think and good looking as it is. The HDMI pass through is very buggy—4K120 pass through sometimes work but sometimes doesn’t; so is 4K Dolby Vision pass through, it’s almost up to chance whether I’d get the pass through to work. The settings menu is also overly simplified that it borders on useless. I want to like this model, but I can’t since it’s just got the looks, not the reliability and hardware of a good receiver that I need.

The sound is pretty good, i like that.It has both android and airplay. The osd and app could be a lot better though. Also, the remote is absolute garbage. You have to be pointing directly at the amp, and maybe three feet away, max.

The MA510 was extremely easy to set up, sounds great, and has a very clear picture. I replaced my old Yamaha with it and my wife and kids are much happier with the ease of use of the new one and I can't tell a difference in sound quality with my Klipsch setup.

This receiver blew me away — super easy to set up, and the sound quality is incredible for the price. Streaming music over Bluetooth and WiFi works flawlessly, and it handles 4K and 8K video without breaking a sweat. Perfect centerpiece for any home theater setup!

Great Features on Paper, Good Value, Has Potential

I am torn. I really wanted to love this product, but I have experienced challenges, specifically getting the receiver to reliably connect all my HDMI inputs to my HDMI output. On paper, this receiver has all the key features I wanted: * Up to 8K support, presumably extends its useful life * 5.1 surround with reasonable power and decent sound * Most of the latest HDMI features including Dolby Vision pass-thru, HDR, etc. * Networked to support Airplay * Attractive price point now that it is widely discounted. * Attractive appearance (though it is slightly deeper than other AV receivers, specifically Denon and Yamaha, I have compared against.) My setup is relatively simple. Output is a high end LG OLED, input devices are Apple TV 4K, Directv Streaming Box, and Sony Playstation. I have all new, latest generation HDMI cables. The cons are: - Great difficulty getting it to connect my latest AppleTV 4K to my LG OLED. After many hours of troubleshooting, I have narrowed it down to issues with passing deep color which surfaces when I change inputs across devices with significantly different video capabilities to my one output. Note I also tried a Denon 4K AV receiver and it did NOT have any same connection issues, but it was 3x the price and had other limitations for my use. - Does not include an Audessy style calibration. However, there is an app you can run on a mobile device to do some minimal room speaker set up calibration. - The remote control is not great and does not surface buttons to do direct source selection. - Source selection is slow and requires multiple button presses and sequentially rotating across the inputs. - On-screen set up menus have uninspired UI and few controls. - Still struggling to get CEC to work as desired and not have my various devices out of power state sync (I use a smart remote control for the full set up) - No tuners (AM or FM) Other positives are: + Unit seems to run cool which makes it fine inside a cabinet + Automatic firmware updates over the network + Supports various over the air formats such as Airplay 2. For the first time in several weeks I am now inclined to keep the JBL MA510 as I am close to reliably resolving the input switching and source compatibility issues. I am also hopeful future FW updates can improve this aspect and support more of the latest 4K standards. And, I was actually able to get help from a real person on their customer service team which is harder and harder to get these days. To be fair to JBL, there's no other AV receiver in this price range that has as many key features I care about. I just hope I can resolve the last of the configuration issues for my setup. I am cautiously recommending it for the majority of users whose setup would not surface the issues mine does.

i needed to upgrade my receiver (27 years old, so dated it is labeled AC-3 instead of Dolby) This JBL has everything I needed: plenty of amplification and plenty of inputs. It integrates perfectly with Samsung TV and their Smarthings app. The speaker setup is sophisticated enough to set distances and levels accurately. It drives my EV 1202 monitors very well. I like the remote, the common functions are easy to use and it offers a lot of setup options for each source, including assigning a particular surround mode to each input. I purchased this as an "open box - excellent" at a discount and everything was included and in perfect condition.

No issues you may have to factory reset at the beginning. The volume screen was remaining o the screen at the beginning no matter what I would do it would return. Finally after contacting the receiver company and more troubleshooting with them and factory reset there hasn’t been any more issues.
