Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the K500 Brewer's ease of use, the carafe, and the hot water features. Many appreciate the large water reservoir and the sleek design. However, some customers find the price to be high and cleaning to be somewhat inconvenient. The quiet operation was also a plus for some users.

This was a good buy... The timer setup for in the morning wasn't what I as expected... It does heat up but doesn't brew on its own, u still need to tell it to brew... But not a deal breaker.

I am satisfied with this purchase. The only negative thing to point out is that some of the older K cups will not work with it.

Yes it makes a cup of coffee very fast, but it tastes like water. No matter how strong you brew it, it still stinks. I have tried many different varieties all with the same results. Coffee is not at all rich and robust like a good cup should be. We tried packing our own cups and had the same results

    Good Coffee But Too Expensive

I gave it 3 stars, but 3.5 would be more accurate. Overall, I'm happy with it. Pros: Large H2O reservoir. Coffee is good. Not only do I like it, but visitors do as well. Fast and convenient. Touch screen display easy to read and use (although I really don't like touch screens on anything) Cons: Clock runs fast; the last time I reset it, it gained over 20 min. in about 3 days. Cleaning (descaling) should be a LOT easier: Empty the reservoir; pour in the descaling solution; press and stand there and hold the hot H2O button while it dispenses 6 oz of water; repeat until reservoir is about 90% empty at which time the unit asks for "more water;" empty the 10% of the solution that remains from the reservoir; refill reservoir with water; again press and hold the hot H2O button repeated until the reservoir again ask for more water; if using vinegar to descale, it take about 4 reservoirs of fresh water to flush the unit sufficiently that the odor of vinegar is not detectable in the hot H2O flush that comes out -- there is no way to drain the preheating reservoir. Bottom line, descaling takes too long and requires you stand there and hold a button during the entire process. The needle that punctures the K-Cup has a tendency to get clogged with coffee grounds. It took a while to figure out that straitening a paper clip to put into the needle and rotating it around will loosen the grounds enough to allow 2 or 3 cycles (6 oz each) of hot H2O to flush them out. (It is not easy to see where to insert the paper clip to actually get it into the hole of the needle.) Expensive -- too expensive, given the hassle of cleaning it. Given the price, at the very least, it should have a "Cleaning Cycle" that will drain the reservoir (all the way) with a single button press so you can walk away during the cycle, and, if not that, at least dispense 8-10 oz without having to hold the button. Also, it should be possible to drain the preheating reservoir of descaling solution before starting the rinses. Finally, a built-in way of clearing the needle of coffee grounds. At $190 I can't recommend this to friends; they aren't lunatic spendthrifts like I seem to be. They are content to come over and play with my overpriced toys.

Great brewer for the avid coffee drinker

I love my Keurig 2.0 K500 for the most part. Everything is digital and looks sharp. It's easy to use. My gripes are that it's really picky on the type of k-cup that it will accept. I cannot use the generic cups to put my own grounds in it for coffee and tea and it just won't read some other cups. The hot water on demand function drives me crazy because it will only dispense 6oz at a time and you have to sit there and hold the button. If I want hot water for a 18 oz tea, this is annoying. I used to be able to chose the setting and let it dispense without a k-cup on my old Keurig. Overall though, I like this brewer. Thanks Keurig, for the free pods for this review.

We bought this as a replacement at home so I could take our other one to work. It takes a little longer to heat up but has a bigger water tank.
