Love the design, broke over 15 times, now totaled
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got a good deal. But from day one, there were problems. Started with door hinges and their screws, then to the ice maker, then the drawers in the freezer and their rails, then the freezer seal, then the ice maker again, then the freezer drawers again, then cooling quit - circuit board went out with the spoiled food. Still like the design but wow what problems. Thank goodness I bought the extended warranty - and BB just limited their warranty from 5 to 3 years and are charging more. The Geek Agent was terrific at least

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this refrigerator in January of 2024. In May of 2024 the freezer got warm enough that all the food went from frozen to soft, and bad. KitchenAid replaced the main circuit board in the the fridge. It worked fine for another 5 months, then the ice maker stopped making ice. The techs came out and replaced the ice maker. It worked for 2 days and then we had no ice and no water. Techs came out again and replaced a splitter valve that froze and cracked the valve. It worked for a day before stopping all water and ice again. Techs came out again and replaced the valve again, and this time the reservoir. 2 days later no ice and no water again. Techs came out again and thawed all the lines and replaced the same parts again. Like a broken record, 2 days later no ice and no water. Techs came back again and this time they put extra sealant around the ice box. It made about 5 batches of ice this time before it stopped working. This time it was on Thanksgiving, So we had no ice and no water from the fridge for thanksgiving. The techs just came out again and added more sealant to the ice box, to try to stop the air from freezing the lines.

BEWARE or BESQUARE!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ALERT! Damage Control! Problems from day one. Did not get extended warranty, 1 week after original warranty expired the fridge DIED! Contacted Kitchenaid, after they made me jump through several hoops they agreed to send a repairman pro bono! I did make them aware that every major social network would be made aware through efforts of myself and my family to make the consumer aware of this situation. The repairman was professional and found that the main circuitboard was DEAD. He replaced it, it worked and no charge. The following issues have become apparent. The gaskets need regular refreshing with vaseline or else they dry out causing a loss of seal. The water dispenses sloppily since day one with no cure. A plastic frame supporting the main glass shelf cracked resulting in poor support($125) two years in. Replacement water and air filters are around $90 a year! This was a very expensive model $2500+ and it turns out to be all show and no go!

Reliability: Questionable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.can't believe you can spend $4K on an appliance and in 3 years and have had to have 2 service calls for repairs. To add insult to injury the first was covered by an extended warranty i bought rather than the manufacturer and the latest isnt covered at all. I've had better luck with the $400 GE I bought 7 years ago that sits in the garage.

BEWARE OF S. STEEL, just a coating. UNRELIABLE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.23+ repairs in the fives years of ownership. YOU READ IT RIGHT. 23 + REPAIRS, I LOST TRACK. THANK GOD EVERY REPAIR WAS COVERED BY A 5 YEAR PLAN. IT FAR EXCEEDED THE COST OF THE WARRANTY PACKAGE ON MY 3 TOP OF LINE KITCHENAID APPLIANCES. GET THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY ON YOUR APPLIANCE PACKAGE. STAINLESS STEEL IS NOT STAINLESS STEEL. REAL SS IS NOT MAGNETIC if you have a real SS COOKTOP and SS sink, neither one will hold a magnet. JUST PUT A MAGNET UNDER A PAPER TOWEL. IT STICKS TO ALL APPLIANCES, BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT REAL SS. Virtually every brand, walk through any appliance store to confirm what I am saying. THIS UNIT HAS BEEN POLISHED with SS POLISH and YET RUST SPOTS APPEAR. I REMOVE THEM ASAP Weak paste of baking soda, water using a toothbrush. Do not scrub hard, just remove the rust marks and polish. Ice Makers and Stainless Coatings are outside any manufacturer's warranty. LUXURY FEATURES & considered just luxury features. BUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERS the ice maker, every part but RUST.

We will See
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well, we will see how this refrigerator works out. Normally I am a Samsung and/or LG fan however after looking at this refrigerator online and in the stores along with some substantial due diligence about KitchenAid products and reading all of the great reviews I decided to pull the trigger on purchasing this unit along with a really nice four door LG unit at nearly the same time. This Kitchenaid unit has had some challenges with frost building up in the bottom freezer area about every month. I have had two different repair specialists look at the unit and no one can find where the air is leaking into the bottom freezer. The next time this happens I will ask them to replace the entire bottom freezer draw and the freezer gasket. mean while the LG four door unit has had no problems what so ever. I will update this review as time passes to see just how KitchenAid decides how to deal with this unit and if they are going to make me wait a year or more before I have a problem free refrigerator.

Expensive decoration!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A beautiful piece of junk! This is our second refrigerator. The first one would not make ice and the lights would go out in the unit. Best Buy did replace it under warranty after months of unsuccessful repair visits. The second refrigerator ran for a couple of years and now this one won’t freeze and the unit just shuts off and then needs to be power cycled to restart. The ice machine also stopped working. Looking online these are very common and known problems with this unit. I did reach out to BB only to find out my warranty had expired the month before. I bought this unit because of the name and reputation for excellence…boy was I wrong.

Fancy piece of junk
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stay away from this money pit! Repeated issues with this fridge. Don’t get enticed by its good looks and fancy drawers. It only lasted 2 years before one of the LED lights needed replacement (causing multiple lights to fail), and 4 years before an $800 repair was needed. I’ve never had a single issue with a refrigerator in my 40 years of life until I purchased this one, and it gave me multiple issues in just 4 years. Even the repairman recommended that I’m better off spending the $800 for a repair towards a new fridge instead since he’s seen so many issues with this model. Do yourself a favor and go for something simple, that’s what I’m doing.

Bad quality fridge; bad warranty thru Best Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So disappointed in Kitchen Aid fridge and Best Buy extended warranty. We loved the look of this fridge so we bought it, but it has been nothing but a hassle since we bought it. Within a year or so of our purchase, the fridge stopped working. After several attempts to repair it, they decided to replace it. Unfortunately that meant going without a refrigerator for months. And the hassle of speaking to the customer service people and arranging for repair person to come was so frustrating. One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. They replaced the refrigerator and told us we had to pay for the warranty again (another $300-$500). We were told it was a new refrigerator so we were paying for a new warranty. Then, 6 months ago we started having more problems with the new fridge. I called the warranty company and was told it was out of warranty. It seems that the second warranty I was sold was a 3 year warranty but that included the previous year from the original purchase. So much for "new warranty for a new fridge"! Anyway, we have had problems with the ice maker which makes ice very sporadically, so we have gone without ice maker for past 6 months. Now the fridge light is not working and the beeping warning us that the fridge is open will not stop. Save yourself the hassle and buy another brand and from another company. And by the way, the Best Buy delivery people damaged my hardwood floors twice (yes, damage during both deliveries). They paid for the first repairs, but refused to repair floors the second time. Best Buy should really stop selling extended warranties because they are not set up to assist with customer service.

Posted .Hello KenR, we are sorry to hear about your concerns with your Refrigerator. In purchasing an extended service plan, you are contracting with and delegating authority to a third-party provider to administer service and/or maintenance for the appliance instead of the manufacturer. They would have exclusive access to your service information for any updates or questions you will need to speak with them directly.

Failed after 5.5 yrs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say that I’m really disappointed with this fridge. I bought KitchenAid thinking that I was getting a higher quality and that it would last but here I am about 5 1/2 years later and I have to put food in the Samsung garage fridge that’s 20 years old and still works. The freezer first stopped making ice and then the freezer stopped getting cold enough and now the fridge part isn’t working either. I bought a whole kitchen full of KitchenAid appliances, and the only thing that’s worked well has been the oven. The microwave has been repaired three times and the dishwasher is barely hanging on And the fridge is not working hardly at all, so I would not recommend these products

Good looking but has flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good looking fridge with some nice features but low ice output and a few too many nagging problems. Due to a sealed system leak it ultimately had to be replaced. Luckily, it fell into manufacturer warranty coverage. I definitely would not pay full price for this fridge. I purchased open box for a very steep discount.

Very loud high pitched whine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2 stars because this fridge has a great layout with nice drawers and interior space. Would give it 0 stars for noise. Fridge emits a high pitched whine we can hear from two rooms away or even upstairs. Easily one of the noisiest appliances in my house. The fridge this replaced was over 10 years old and certainly had its own noises and cycles - this new Kitchenaid makes that one seem like a quiet dream. As this fridge goes through its cooling cycles, the high pitched whine goes from barely noticeable to impossible to ignore. Even after over three weeks of living with it, we still find the sound intrusive. It is quite annoying and if I had known about it, I never would have bought it. We had appliance repair out because it seems so very wrong for a new appliance to sound like this. Apparently Kitchenaid considers loud high pitch noises to be "normal" for fridge operation. Very kind repair person suggested we would probably get used it hearing it. Disappointed we spent the money to introduce such an annoying noise into our everyday lives. Definitely would not recommend

Terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased a complete Kitchenaid suite of appliances when we built our home a little over 3.5 years ago. We loved the way they looked and figured since they were pricey that they would be good products. Boy were we WRONG! We have had to have every one of them worked on at least once. We had to have the double oven stove completely replaced. The fridge has been worked on four times and the freezer just quit on us completely the other day. We purchased a 3 year extended warranty when we purchased, however it has been 8 months past that 3 year warranty so we are out of luck on any assistance with Kitchenaid assistance. It is just ridiculous to spend well over $8,000 on appliances and they not even last a full 4 years. Very disappointed and I do NOT recommend these appliances!!

Expensive, short life span
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this refrigerator 3 years ago and have had to have it serviced twice. The first time was continued power failures. The motherboards were replaced and it was fixed. Then a year later all the lights went out and it stopped producing ice and dispensing water/ice. It has taken 2 months to get the parts and repair done but the unit is still not fixed. Currently trying to work with Geek Squad on a replacement but they are moving at a snail's pace. The freezer doesn't keep anything frozen anymore and every day the fridge seems to be less cool. No answer yet on replacement and at this rate, the fridge will be totally broken long before a new one is approved. At this price point, you would think that you would get more than 3 years out of it. Plus the additional cost of the 5 year service plan.

3 years old and stopped working multiple times!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this fridge 3/2017. It worked fine until 1/2020 when it started shutting off/stop cooling for unclear reasons. We would turn the power off and then on as instructed by kitchen aid helpline and this has been a temporary solution to keep it going. Because I just had a baby at the time and was freezing breast milk, I had to go out and buy another separate freezer because this fridge was so unreliable! I couldn’t risk it going off and ruining all my breast milk. Because it randomly goes off, kitchen aid informed us that they would still charge us if someone came to look at it while it was working. Fridge had to be in the nonworking mode in order to diagnose the problem. But then they can’t send someone immediately when it goes off so it didn’t Make sense. We called a local repair guy and he’s been out here five times. He finally thinks it has something to do with the control board and would cost over $700 to replace. I don’t know what to do since it’s not even four years old. We have an older kitchen aid fridge that’s at least ten years old without problems so I’m not sure why this particular one is so terrible. The repair guy mentioned that newer kitchen aid models break every three years and are no longer built to last. Would not recommend buying at all. Not sure I will ever trust kitchen aid again given this extremely expensive product that is so faulty!!

A Nightmare
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine had it's quirks from the beginning. For example, sometimes the water dispenser would continue to dispense water after the switch was released. Sometimes, when you opened the doors the light simply would not come on. These quirks were infrequent enough that we just decided to live with them. Eventually the problems worsened. The ice maker stopped making ice, the freezer stopped cooling and the refrigerator stopped making ice. All of this of course occurred after the machine passed out of warranty. Worse yet, an appointment just to get someone to look at the machine was 6 weeks out. I chose to start troubleshooting the machine myself. I thawed both cabinets which were iced up. They iced up again. I thawed them again but this time I conducted numerous tests. I ordered a replacement main board as all other parts seemed to function normally. Both cabinets iced up again by the time I got the new board. So I de-iced the unit again and installed the board. Note that there have been no less than 5 superceding parts for the main control board. KitchenAid is clearly struggling with QAing their electronics. Since installing the new board, the transitory issues have resolved such as the lights and water switch. However, the upper cabinet is now iced up again. Every time this machine ices over it is highly disruptive to my life. I have to unpack all my food into coolers, leaving them in the middle of my small kitchen, significantly dismantle the unit to reach the evaporator coil and then spend 30-60 minutes thawing the ice with a blow dryer. Sometimes this process occurs over several days as I have obligations like work. This means every 6 12 weeks a small corner of my life is thrown into chaos. I'm now 100% done with KitchenAid. This is the last time I will thaw the unit. I'll start refrigerator shopping after that task is done. This appliance was astonishingly expensive. And yet it is built with the same parts as cheap Whirlpool models (I've had several apart over the years). It comes with a fantastically short warranty and is almost impossible to find support for after purchase. If it wasn't for some of the excellent online resources out there I would've been completely lost. All-in-all Whirlpool corporation clearly takes no pride in this product given the brief warranty length and they should be ashamed to put such an egregious price on so low quality an item.

Kitchen Aid warranty isn't what they advertise
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WARNING ! KitchenAid hide to customers that they don't stand by their warranty !!! They advertise several years and I even registered mine to get 2-3 extra warranty years to find out that most of the refrigerator parts were only warranty 6 months or 1 year - Only one part is warranty few years and advertising isn't bringing this up this way, its shady and deceptive. Electrics, panels, touches etc... fail after six months or a year and nothing is under warranty, we had to pay for few repairs already and not another issue ; ice isn't working and again I bet you it's not under warranty, basically the total repairs so far costed us nearly 40% of the refrigerator new :(((((

Good so far.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had purchased this refrigerator but we did have to wait around 2-3 weeks for it to come in. And, when one did the delivery man was making sure that the water filter was ok... But, then the whole refrigerator died. The delivery person did not put the water filter in. So, we had to wait another 2 weeks without a refrigerator... We got the new one and it is working good besides the left drawer makes a noise when you tap it for it to catch onto the soft closing track .
