Unreliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After one year the freezer would just stop cooling, then the ice maker and water stopped working and then fridge would stop cooling and lights would not come on. You would have to unplug it and wait five minutes then plug it back in for it to work again finally by googling the problem I found out it was the control panel and had to purchase a new one online for $300 but it was very hard to find and out of stock most places. I purchased kitchen aide for the good name but now believe I could have gotten something for half the price and better quality.

Great American Brand
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this to replace broken LG InstaView. So far, very happy with it. First, great material. It feels sturdy with metal doors where you can place your beloved magnets, not like LG with plastic door and yoy always feel it may fall apart. Secondly, produce stays fresh for much longer time as compared with LG in which produce would start turning yellow in 3-4 days. thirdly, it is easy to use. Hope this will outlast LG which worked barely for 2 years.

Looks great but horrible quality - DO NOT BUY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first year with this refrigerator was great. Then the problems started. First, the water would not dispense. Then refrigerator and/or freezer wasn't cooling. Usually we discovered it helped if we cut the power to the refrigerator for a few days, let whatever was frozen up inside melt and dry out (in the meantime transporting all of our perishable good to the cheap, normal, old fashioned and RELIABLE refrigerator in our basement). Fortunately we have that backup refrigerator. NOW it seems the entire refrigerator has died. We had a repair person look at it a couple of months back, and by the time he arrived it was working again, so he didn't touch it. He informed us that that the issues the KRMF706ESS refrigerator is having are resulting from having the ice maker and its components in the top of the refrigerator, and that it creates condensation and dripping to other components, which freeze and create lots of other issues. We were told that the parts that need to be replaced are under some sort of of recall which is not a 'normal' recall, and therefore kitchenaid will not cover the expense, nor will our service plan. Will NEVER buy a kitchenaid refrigerator again, and especially not one with ice/water in the door. We are now installing reverse osmosis at our kitchen sink for water, and most likely, will need to completely replace the refrigerator after less than 3 years of use. What a huge waste of money.

Do not buy this - On my third fridge and it failed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PLEASE read the negative reviews and do not trust the other reviews. This fridge has massive issues, and it will fail on you. I have now have 3 of these units in my house, as 2 others completely failed, and after multiple repairs, finally got KitchenAid to replace them. I bought the first one in 2017, received my second in late 2018, and now just had my third one die in 2020. Have had every problem mentioned across the 3 different units, including ice maker not working, doors not closing, doors uneven, freezer not cooling, refrigerator not cooling, and most recently water pooling under the drawers, leaking out, and then the unit dying. At present I have been without a working refrigerator for 10 days, and am told my KitchenAid that they cannot have the parts and replace the entire sealed cooling system until 7/2/2020 (Another 8 days). This unit is nearly $4,000. It is total junk. Unless you want to experience the same fate, and I can confirm it is absolutely a quality issue given 3 different units have all failed for similar reasons, I suggest you stay far away from this brand. My hope was it was just this model, but read up on the other KitchenAid units and you will see the same comments over and over again.

Looks great! Unfortunately, it does not work!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The refrigerator looks great. Unfortunately, it does not work. We have had our KitcheAid refrigerator for three years. We started having problems in the first year. Since then we have had a series of different problems, we had many technicians come out to see the unit, but none have been able to fix it. Virtually everything has gone wrong with the refrigerator. The freezer stopped working. They managed to fix it, but of course, all the food was ruined. Then it started making noises, so loud that we could hear them all over the house. They fixed that. Then we started having numerous problems, including the internal lights stopping working, the water dispenser giving up, and finally, the ice maker stopped working. Unfortunately, they have not fixed those problems, despite numerous visits, and promises that the next time they will have the part to fix the problems - the unit does not work! The best part of the purchase was the extended warranty. At least all the technician visits are on their dime. If you decide to purchase KitcheAid, make sure you buy the warranty. On the plus side, the Technicians are all very polite and apologetic - they are all sub-contractors so they don't work for KitchenAid and of course, the refrigerator still looks good! I would not recommend KitchenAid refrigerators.

Read this before you make a mistake...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this refrigerator about 5 years ago and it has been trouble since day one. Ice maker stops working, thaws/drips and then refreezes into a block. It also drips into the refrigerator. LED lights have burned out. Freezer door has been replaced because large ice blocks form at the seals. The problems started before the original warranty expired so I have been paying for extended warranty since then so figure in $500 to $600 every 3 years for that and a lot of time wasted waiting on repair visits. I called the service company for my current issues at the end of May and it's now August and four visits later and they are still trying to fix it. I expected a lot more from KitchenAid but this refrigerator has been a major disappointment. Don't make the same mistake I did buying this overpriced lemon.

Bad Buy more like it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this fridge in 2017. Ice maker leaks water all over the fridge and has never worked right. Now after only 5 years the top fridge has stopped cooling. Called Kitchenaid and they said they could send out a tech but there is only one Kitchenaid certified tech company in our area and they could not come out for over a week! When I looked up the company online they had terrible reviews so I guess it’s up to me to find a tech to fix my practically brand new fridge that has stopped working after only a few years. I have an Amana fridge in my garage that is 25 years old and I have never had to fix anything on it. For a fridge that cost $4000.00 you would think it would last longer. We purchased the matching dishwasher not long ago. Hopefully this is not a thing with Kitchenaid appliances. Would not recommend.

My bad luck
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We loved this refrigerator, but it died in 5yrs. Literally 2 Months ago, the cost to replace the parts was $1,800.00. We decided to buy a new refrigerator instead of repairing. We loved Kitchenaide, when we bought the refrigerator we purchased matching dishwasher, range, & microwave. after 5yrs the refrigerator and dishwasher needed replacing.

Nothing but trouble.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had nothing but problems. One of the easy close drawers has never closed all the way. It's no big deal for me, but my kids open the drawer and they forget frequently. The ice maker on this stopped working a few days after the 1 year warranty expired. Kitchenaid honored the warranty abd fixed it for free, at least, but still not a good sign. Now about 2 years in, the thing is totaled. We first noticed ice not being produced, then realized pur food was thawing in the freezer. Apparently It is leaking coolant and has an electronic board malfunctioning. Repair guys estimated a couple of thousand dollars to fix, but said they wouldn't even bother with it. Given that a new fridge is a couple of thousand, I'd agree. I won't buy kitchenaid products again.

Kitchenaid and French Door Horrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.have a Kitchenaid 5 door model krmf06ess01 I bought in May 2016 occasionally the refrigerator makes a clicking sound and when I open the door the lights don't work, I turned breaker off and waited 15 minutes and then back on and that helped but this was a weekly occurrence. Then In January 2020 all the ice melted and everything in the freezer thawed out. I called a repairman that came out the next day and overnight before he came the freezer started freezing again and making ice. He replace the relay and it lasted 2 weeks then the clicking noise and lights not working so I reset breaker and 4 weeks later which was yesterday it thawed out again and overnight it started working again. the repairman thinks it might be the compressor. I am so frustrated I paid 3,000 for this refrigerator and am so frustrated with this refrigerator and loosing meat and frozen food repeatedly

Broke Down
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Refrigerator worked fine for 5 Years. Then the Ice Machine stopped working and the Fridge stopped cooling. had someone come out that deals with Kitchenaid and they basically said it was better to get a new fridge than fix it. The Parts were to be covered by the limited parts warranty but the labor was in excess of 1,000. Then I tried to sell it but no-one would buy it because the parts to repair it would be too expensive. Basically it is a nice Refrigerator but only if it is working.

Too Expensive / Too Many Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The refrigerator is pretty, but...the ice maker is awful! We have owned for 4 years and already replaced the ice maker twice and ready for a third time. Each visit is $150 to diagnose and ice maker is $300+ a pop and only warrantied for a year. The back of the freezer ices up and food thaws and refreezes, water constantly dumps into the refrigerator from the ice maker, and it makes ice when it feels like making ice. Do not recommend!

I'm sure I'm forgetting a problem or three.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, let me explain that we did not purchase this refrigerator at Best Buy, but rather from a local small business. Regardless, the experience with the unit itself has been so horrendous I wanted to share it with everyone lest you fall into the same beautiful trap that was laid for us. We have had the refrigerator for about 3 or 4 years now. I will explain my grievances below, but first let me address my rating. Quality: Poor. The unit has failed in multiple ways multiple times in a short timeframe. There is no excuse for this. Despite the unit being made of nice materials and having quality feeling construction, the lack of reliability has destroyed its chances in this metric. Value: Fair. I bought it for less money than they are retailing now. Even still, the value is below average due to, again, the reliability. I want very badly to give it poor value, but the reality is the refrigerator does perform very well when it works so I've bumped it up a notch from bottom. Ease of use: Good. It would be excellent if it were reliable. Hard to use it when it's broke. But otherwise, it is a fantastic layout with easy to manipulate controls. I really wish it were reliable. And that gets me to the meat and potatoes of what went wrong. Note my memory isn't perfect, so I may be missing some steps. But I've tried to lay it out in its entirety. When we first noticed an issue, there was a clicking noise coming from behind the unit. It sounded like a solenoid engaging and disengaging about 6 times per second. Clicking would continue for some time, pause, then resume. The whole unit would sometimes turn completely off (no lights, no water dispense, no cooling). Unplugging and plugging it back in would get it to wake up. A service call later and it was determined one of many motherboards was likely toast. While waiting on the boards to arrive, the unit randomly started working. So, being optimistic, we did not have the boards installed (if it ain't broke...). Fast forward a little and there is another clicking sound, this time with the freezer not working. A call to Kitchen Aid determined they would send a tech under warranty. They dispatched a company who had 1.5 stars on Google, but again being optimistic, I decided to hear them out. The tech showed up, read some error codes, and determined the fan was not running and needed replacement. That will be $100 for the pleasure. When challenged it was under warranty, I was kindly told that no, in fact, it was not under warranty and Kitchen Aid had lied to me. I started to wonder if the company sent by the factory was scamming me - they did almost no diagnosis (did not even look for signs of an issue) and mysteriously came up with a $300 fix that was in addition to the $100 it took for them to come out in the first place. Something didn't sit right. Since nothing about this service call seemed right, I called a trusted service technician. They came out and determined the whole evaporator was iced up (something a simple visual inspection immediately indicated, also something I had no experience looking for at the time or I would have looked). The ice had caused the fan to stop turning, throwing the code the aforementioned scam company had read. Thawing the ice freed the fan and we were on our feet again. No need to replace the fan at great cost. Being optimistic, having a working refrigerator was a breath of fresh air. Next up, the ice maker stopped working. Trusted service location came out and determined the ice maker was bad (since that happens frequently according to them). Replacing the ice maker cost me $330 and did precisely nothing. Another series of service calls (luckily free since they missed the diagnosis) resulted in them eventually adjusting settings till it worked. Being optimistic, that surely had to be the last of it. Fast forward to present and the clicking has returned. We have ice production but it is wimpy. Ice is forming and building up on the inside of the freezer. Soon, the clicking subsided and in its place is a full on buzz, like when a bearing is shot. Our frozen goods are getting freezer burn something fierce - we've never had that problem in a dozen years in the house. Being optimistic, maybe the service call we are currently waiting on will fix this refrigerator once and for all. Or we will abandon an otherwise beautiful piece of our kitchen.

Do not buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If I could give this fridge a -5 rating I would. I am so thankful that we purchased the extended Geek Squad warranty when we purchased this fridge. The dispenser has always had a "drip, drip, drip" with the water and although the ice maker worked fine for the first year, it has given us problems for a while. We have had this fridge for exactly 2 years and in the past 6 weeks we have had it serviced 4 times and it still isn't repaired. The ice dispenser does not dispense ice because there is a problem in the door that allows air to get in and therefore it makes the ice moist and then it all sticks together. And now there is a small leak in the back of the inside of the fridge that drips on the top shelf. The last service call was yesterday and they said we need a whole new door according to the manufacturer, Whirlpool. We are getting a new fridge, not the same brand. A family member has this exact same fridge and they are having the exact same problem. If you check other websites, which I didn't do before we purchased, you will see very poor ratings on this fridge. Thank goodness we purchased the extended warranty. The guys from the Geek Squad have been great, they have tried everything to fix it, unfortunately it's a defect in the making of the fridge. My advice is to stay away from this fridge.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do NOT buy this fridge. After 4 years, the harness needed to be replaced. 1 month later the ice maker stopped working. When the repair man came out, he said it was a sealed system issue. Long story short, it t was going to be another 600+ dollars to fix it. We opted to replace the fridge and not put anymore money into it. We bought it thinking it was going to last us a long time and it did not!

It’s pretty but it’s not worth it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this a little over three years ago, it was beautiful and everything we thought we wanted. Love the kitchen aid brand BUT This fridge lasted me exactly three years. First the ice stopped working and the freezer stopped keeping our food frozen. We had them come out to fix it..they replaced the motor and the ice maker and it lasted about three months and now, the ice machine won’t work, the water won’t dispense and the freezer again is not keeping our food frozen. So yes, you will love this fridge for exactly three years until it dies. And it’s hard because you spend so much on it..you expect it to last. So here we are with a broken fridge and I had to buy a cheap replacement because I just can’t get myself to keep spending this amount of money for something that won’t last.

Do not buy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Freezer drawer did not close properly so the drawer tracks froze up several times. A technician said it was so far out of the range of adjustment that he could not get the door to seal. Wanted to red flag the unit but the factory would not let him. He cranked on the door to bend it in a last ditch effort to get the seal and it worked! He shouldn't have had to though. Ice maker worked for about a year, then flooded the floor and the lower lever below. I turned off water supply so we just used trays for a while. Now freezer quit working. I have never been so disappointed in an appliance in my life. The freezer space is really small too. I may junk this thing rather than repair it again. I have always been a Kitchenaid fan but no longer. Too bad it is a nice looking unit.
