Very solid, frother is a little weak, i'd recommend thicker milk if you're going to use it.

Waste of money, will be returning the kes6404bm! I recieved a nonfunctional machine from Best Buy. Kitchenaid has terrible customer service. Truly I give this product a big ZERO which just so happens to be the number of espressos and macchiatos I was able to make with it!

The KitchenAid - Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine with Automatic Milk Frother Attachment may seem intimidating at first, but I think even the most novice home baristas won’t have much trouble figuring out the machine and making a great drink on their own. KitchenAid does a great job with their instruction manuals which includes a handy quick-reference manual as well as full instruction guide. All you could hope to accomplish with this machine is laid out in a logical manner and I got mine up and running in no time! It is worth noting everything seems to be of very high quality including the heavy duty flat portafilter. The automatic milk frother attachment is pretty cool and great for when you are making multiple servings at a time but when it comes to getting that ideal froth, I still suggest using the included steam wand instead. The smart temperature sensors this machine is described as having really seem to work well at determining the ideal brewing temperature and the water consistently heats up much quicker than I had anticipated. Overall, the KitchenAid - Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine with Automatic Milk Frother Attachment is a great, professional-feeling machine and I highly recommend it!

. Easy to use, compact, versatile, quick, the KitchenAid Semi-automatic espresso machine produces expresso worth drinking at a fraction of the effort! My biggest complaint is it might be too easy and quick. How do I impress people with my barista commitment if I don't have to work hard? Years ago I got a De'Longhi for the family (for a lot more money)... and it's a beast. So much to learn, to adjust, tweak, my wife doesn't like the counter space the De'Longhi takes or the mess it makes, but loved watching me struggle to make her cup of expresso, a real labor of love that was! With the KitchenAid Semi-automatic espresso machine sitting there nice and neat... we drink more coffee and its never been so easy...maybe there should be a health warning? "Warning use of the KitchenAid Semi-automatic espresso machine can lead to rampant coffee consumption and addictive immediate gratification." A number of the other reviews do a great job of detailing what is included, how to set up, I will cut to the chase. The first-class experience of using it. First of all, it is inclusive. The easiest set up for a machine of its class that I have encountered. Other machines required a 'burn in,' not the Kitchen Aid. Second, it came with everything you need to the get that first espresso. Other more costly machines surprised me with the extra's I had to buy later. For those machines you really DID need a list of what came with it, what was needed. Not the Kitchen Aid. All there. The water container is easy to get to, easy to see, though smaller than others. If you are used to other expresso machines you will be surprised at how fast the thermacoil technology is (less than a minute). No time to start breakfast. You will like the handy dandy storage bin to limit counter mess. And you will love how self-contained (clean lines) and compact it is on your counter top. And yes, it IS easy to clean. This is possible because of the plastic enclosure. Some will miss stainless steel, but I don't miss the effort of keeping stainless clean. Traditional steamer wands are very impressive to use once you master them, and the Kitchen Aid has one, but ultimately they are messy and inconsistent for me when I am impatient (often). I prefer the Kitchen Aid's automatic milk frother attachment most of the time for pure convenience. It is also less wasteful as it detaches and you can store it and the unused milk in the refrigerator. It is easy to operate, just a few buttons to select what you want, how much you want, how hot you want, and then go! There is also a dedicated cleaning button. But how is the taste? I had some fun with a Brazilian friend who considers himself quite the connoisseur. He often laments how bad American coffee is and always offers suggestions for my efforts. He does the same with wine. I tolerate it because he is a magician on the barbacue. Anyway, he was sitting in the living room talking to my wife (we've all been vaccinated) and I went to make the espresso. This usually takes some time so I snuck in an extra piece of pie (small), and then hit the buttons on the Kitchen Aid. Carried the cups out and gave him his. Waited for his comments, but no, he just kept talking after taking his first sip. So I asked him directly how it was, he smiled and said I was improving LOL. No I didn't tell him my improvement was to work less. I am sure skilled baristas or devoted enthusiasts like my friend can coax a better cup of espresso from a more expensive, more manually intensive machine, but this one is for anyone that values a great taste at home with a satisfyingly easy experience. Anyone want to buy a well loved De'Longhi?

    Marvelous Espresso Maker

Coffee has been a long passion of mine. I can call myself an aficionado by my own standards because I've tried coffee made all sorts of ways from all sorts of places. My review will be short and straight to the point since the Espresso maker follows these guidelines, so will I. It was easy to set up. it comes with a steam wand (careful hot to the touch after its been used) and a milk frothier attachment which both plug in and can be unplugged from the machine by pressing the button directly underneath the attachment. I filled the tank up with reverse osmosis water, ground my espresso beans (fine, not coarse) and tampered them down. the process was smooth, I used the milk frothier, which was very intuitive but with a little reading and desired settings, no more expensive drives and waiting in line for a decent espresso based coffee. I personally love Latte's and the signature "flat white," but we all know that it can get expensive. 5-6 dollars for coffee and milk made a certain way is not smart business in my book. Worried about time??? This machine was already steaming by the time I looked for the milk and got my mug out. Talk about speed, efficiency, and streamlining all of that into a small package for the busy business individual, soccer mom, average joe, or coffee connoisseur who just cant get enough. Is there value in this? ABSOLUTELY!!! I've stood in line at reputable coffee shops and sometimes the coffee doesn't taste the way I want it to or I'm late for work. But when my lips touched this beautifully frothed life-giving nectar all while being able to get to where I want because I don't need to make a pit stop, I was sort of shocked at how much time we spend in lines. Now, the machine is a marvel but rest assured you cannot just add any old beans. You want the best product, you need to get the best beans and know your coffee before you can honestly judge this machine and its capabilities. Worth the buy in my book 100%

    Perfect for coffee lovers

The KitchenAid semi automatic espresso machine with the automatic milk frother is the perfect way to bring you local coffee shop home. The espresso machine includes detailed diagrams on how to put everything together in order to get going. In the box you will find the Espresso Machine, a Portafilter, Coffee Scoop, Tamper, Milk Pitcher, Water Tank, 4 Filter Baskets, Drip Tray, Automatic Milk Frother Attachment, Milk Tank, and Cleaning Brush The automatic milk frother attachment is not essential to the operation of the machine since you can just use the steam wand to froth your milk however it can be useful if your are planning to make a few drinks in a row. The machine has smart temperature sensors in order to ensure the ideal brewing temps for your espresso shots. Most commercial espresso machine use 9 bars of pressure at the brew head in order to extract the coffee from the grounds. This machine is advertised at 15 bar however you most likely have a reduction of pressure as the water reaches the portafilter. It is imperative that you use finely ground coffee so that you are not under or over extracting the coffee. If the coffee is to coarse you will end up with a horrible tasting espresso. Once you have loaded your coffee into the portafilter and tamped it down you have the option of choosing 1 shot or 2 shot extraction via the preset buttons. The machine can also dispense hot water from the steam wand in case you want to make an Americano rather than an espresso. The top of the espresso machine has an integrated cup warmer which does a wonderful job of prewarming your cups. I would recommend you invest in a good burr grinder so that you can grind your own coffee beans at home rather than purchasing pre ground coffee that may have been sitting on a supermarket shelf for months. If you enjoy espressos and are willing to put in a little more work than simply placing a pod in your coffee machine than I would recommend buying this KitchenAid espresso machine. It may seem a little expensive initially however you will save a lot of money in the long run if you habitually visit a coffee shop on a daily basis

    Awesome Espresso Machine!

The KitchenAid Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine is a great machine for those who want more control over espresso making process than an automatic machine. The footprint of the machine is smaller than expected on the counter. It easy gets “out of the way” on the countertop. The dual filter baskets for a single or double shot is great and the baskets are clearly marked to ensure you have the right one for your coffee need. The steamer wand works really well for frothing milk. It does an excellent job of frothing and warming the milk. The reservoir for storing milk is great as you can detach it from the machine to store in the fridge, but it is a pain to remove from machine as the tube gets in the way. This is really the biggest con of this machine, but not a deal-breaker. Overall, this machine makes excellent expresso and frothed milked. Definitely recommend!

i have taken my coffee habit to new levels. I was just a regular coffee drinker. This has opened me up to quick but professional espressos and lattes. Easy to set up and use with custom settings for the coffee style of choice. The milk frother and steamer makes these the real deal. I will save money making these at home now. I wish the manual had instructions on making the art in the top of my espresso!

Getting There Is Half The Fun

I have taken longer than usual to do a review on the KitchenAid Espresso Machine because there is a learning curve. So far I have not made a bad cup, so this machine does a excellent job especially with espresso. Getting to a cappuccino is a little bit of a learning curve. Frothing/steaming the milk is not something one just does easily if you want to do it right. I still have not got it just right. It has been fun working with the machine and trying to get the barista results. I am not there, but getting there with each failure. As of the writing of this review the instructional videos were not working. So I am doing a lot of trial and error and watching other videos to try and translate to this maker. Overall, this has been tasty and enjoyable. Just don't expect a perfect cup the first attempt.

I am a basic coffee drinker, but occasionally enjoy an espresso or a cappuccino every now and then. My wife on the other had will usually go for the cappuccino. This machine is a work of art. It is solidly built like all Kitchen Aid appliances and looks like a professional quality espresso machine that will fit into any upscale kitchen. It performs brilliantly without taking up a ton of counter space and makes excellent beverages. I also love the large size of the water reservoir and that you can clearly see how much water you have remaining. At nearly 4$ a cappuccino, this thing pays for itself in short order. I highly recommend it!

    Dissatisfaction and sad

Easily a tough machine, hardly no video reviews on how to make this machine work appropriately. The attachment that we paid extra for leaks, and didn’t froth like it was supposed to. The Machine leaked water when you use the steamer and the frothier. So we took one back and attempted to use a whole new unit thinking the first one was defective. Same result different machine sadly. I had high hopes for this unit knowing the brand name on other appliances works great in my household. Sadly we returned the second one and ended ip purchasing another expresso brand name machine. If you buy this machine know, it will leak more than a little when using the froth wand and it does make decent expresso. The one good cup of joe I made was tasteful.

The KitchenAid Espresso Machine gets the job done but in hindsight, I would have been better off spending more on a brand that specializes in espresso machines. As far as the automatic milk frother, it sits in a closet because it's more of a hindrance than anything else. Luckily, this unit was on sale making it cheaper than the one without the attachment so it didn't cost me anything to get it.
