I was a little weary of a cardboard project, but this is well designed. My 8 year old grandson and I have spent about about 8-10 hours over a couple days to build 3 of the items. Fishing Pole RC car Piano (it really works and has moving keys!!) He was able to do all the work. Great, easy to follow and fun instructions are on the Switch itself. He really had a lot of fun. We also got the robot kit which is also a lot of fun!

Fold cardboard and watch the creations come to life! The Keyboard took my daughter and I more than an hour. Still more projects to do. and, she gets to color and decorate which is her favorite part.

Bought Labo for my 6 year old. Unfortunately, that is too young to handle the tedious folds and construction of the cardboards. However, I still think it is neat for little, future engineers. Step by step insructions are easy to follow.

It is a pretty misleading to describe this as a video game. If you get this with the expectation of a quick build process and mostly playing well polished games you will be disappointed. However, Labo is a great STEAM (Science Tech Engineering Arts Math) activity for kids and people who want a nostalgic experience. I equate creating the Toy Cons to a really positive experience assembling Ikea furniture. The interactive instructions built into the software makes it a lot more fun and easier than other construction projects. Once you’re done you have something that is more personal than a toy you purchased. Also, the fun doesn’t stop after construction. Each toy con comes with interactive software that lets you play with the Toy Con. Some of the software is better and more engaging than others. It is possible to get really deep into the interactivity with a light programming system called toy con garage. The biggest disappointment with the Labo is that these projects seem naturally suited for working with others, however the instructions in the software are very linear so there is no easy way to break up the work so multiple people can work at the same time.

The original price of these Labo kits was just too much. However, with the recent bargain prices for these kits, I picked them up and had a ton of fun already. This kit includes super charming and fun builds including the piano - which even the girlfriend found wonderful. It's one of those weird Nintendo things that is just an awesomely enjoyable thing.

My gf and I, both in 30’s had a great time putting these together. It’s awesome to see how your work all comes together and then work in a seemingly magical way using the tech in the joycon. Nintendo did a great job explaining simply how to put everything together as well and then explains how it works. The games that come afterward are sort of shallow. I haven’t played everything yet but I’ve completed the 5 major projects. Liked it so much we finished them in 2 days.

I had mixed feelings about the labo concept and still do after my purchase. I justified purchasing as thinking I'm paying for the software along with the cardboard. The idea of building something out of thick paper and bringing it to life with your switch is certainly creative that could only be executed by Nintendo. I opened it up on a rainy Sunday and started the project with the kids. The instructions are super easy to follow but very time consuming. After awhile the kids got distracted and I ended up continuing on my own. After a couple of hours I felt I was done but the kids came back for encouragement and we finished it quickly. Once the project was completed it was cool to have it interact with the switch. I guess if you enjoy Lego projects you might enjoy this. I'm not a big fan of putting things together so would pass on this purchase if I could go back. Again I can totally see how someone else might enjoy this product and ultimately the finished projects were cool.

If you looking for a switch accessory that isn't just mindless video game playing, this is the perfect gift! My 9 year old was able to assemble himself with minimal adult help. So far we have made the motorcycle and he has enjoyed the game. A word of caution. If you have light color carpets DO NOT put this together on the floor. I noticed pink spots on my carpet where he was assembling where the red ink had rubbed off into the carpet. It did come up easily but save yourself an hour of carpet cleaning. Also, the game that comes with it did glitch once already and we had to exit to the home screen and close the program and reopen the game and it worked fine. Looking forward to making the other projects with him.

Let me clear upfront about this. This is NOT a $70 game. This is a $70 kit. While the games themselves are pretty good, they alone don't justify the price. The real fun comes from building the kits, then figuring out how they work. To add on to this. The included software has Discovery lessons that teach you about each aspect of the models. Beyond this, there's a garage mode that gives you free reign to program your own models. All in all, if you're the type that likes building and creating, then you'll probably enjoy this. Just don't expect the games to be full of depth by themselves.

The Labo variety kit is fun to build all of the projects. It usually takes around 45 minutes to an hour to build a project. So it gives you something to stay busy for a while. The projects have great instructions to follow on your Switch. Sadly, the games don't provide nearly as much entertainment time. Most of them you might not want to play anymore after the first time. The reason for this is each game doesn't provide much content. The piano and fishing game provide the most content and will probably be the only games you play more than once. The cardboard creations take up a lot of room when it comes to storing them. Despite the storage issues and replayability, I gave the Labo kit 4 stars because the initial build is a great experience.

Got this for my 13yo son. He wasnt too excited because he thought it would be a lot of work and not fun. Boy, was he pleasantly surprised! Although these take some time to build, the instructions are great. Easy to follow along with and the rewind feature is perfect. Once each object has been built, it's fun to play with so it's well worth the time it takes to build. Overall a fun product for a stubborn 13 yr old kid, I'd definitely recommend.

These are cool little things that are fun to put together and see how they work. I got them it on clearance for $20 and it is definitely worth that price. Buying precut cardboard might not be worth more however just on principle...it is cardboard. That being said I would recommend for anyone that has younger kids that enjoy crafts and games as you get to enjoy both. Make sure they are old enough to follow directions and be careful though. You can ruin the cardboard easily if they start bending in wrong spots and stuff.

For anyone with a sense of imagination

The Nintendo Labo series got a lot of heat when it was announced. "Only Nintendo could market cardboard and charge a premium." I'm glad that I'm not this jaded. For your money you get 5 cardboard accessories that you get to build from precision cut cardboard panels, minigames to accompany each accessory, and the ability to "program" new devices that you might create on your own. Nintendo really did their research and, while challenging at times, putting together the models couldn't be more intuitive. The minigames range from meh to strangely addictive, but the real gem here is the Toy-Con Garage, which intuitively lets you create new functionality and you're only limited by your imagination. Will everyone enjoy Labo? Probably not. But if you enjoyed building models, Legos, or K'nex as a kid, this will bring you back to your childhood and give you a sense of wonderment you probably haven't experienced in a while. If you have kids that are into building sets, this could be a great bonding experience building these with them or even helping them design new Toy-Cons in the garage. I've got to hand it to Nintendo, they really know how to bring you back to your childhood and they knocked it out of the park with this product.

The labo is a great time if you have kids. The game itself that the labo kit plays with is not very deep if you are an adult but for a child itis a good game filled with mini games. The fun of the game is actually building the kits which could take a few hours. The cardboard products when assembled are really sturdy. My child was pretty rough with them and they are still holding up.

Really enjoying building this with my kids. One thing that really surprised me though is how when you think you’ve done everything with a particular build Nintendo manages to take it one more step. All this happens in the “Discover” area. For example you build a simple RC car, decorate it, have fun moving it around only to find later that 2 RC cars can play sumo. There are all kinds of extras that keep the toycons interesting longer than you would think.

The box says 6+. My daughter is 14 and a hard time with some of the folds/instructions. Once you get past the constructing, the games are not great enough to hold a child's attention for very long. The whole thing is more of a demo of what can be possible instead of a full fledged science game that they'll keep coming back to. If it was not so expensive I still would give a full stamp of approval just for the experience of building and playing with what you built. It just could've been so much more.
