Customers admire the Ideapad 1's ease of use, keyboard quality, and compact size, frequently praising its lightweight design and impressive battery life for its price point. However, some users express concerns regarding the limited RAM and storage capacity, suggesting these may restrict the laptop's capabilities for more demanding tasks. The small amount of storage is a recurring negative comment.

The Lenovo - Ideapad 1 14.0" HD Laptop - Celeron N4020 with 4GB Memory - 64GB eMMC
is a very entry-level budget laptop with a basic HD 1366x768 LCD display that is unfortunately not a touch screen. It is built around yet another basic Celeron 2-core processor that provides basic performance but great battery life. It comes with only 64 GB eMMC storage which is more than enough for general web use and simple apps but almost half of it is taken by the Operating System. 4 GB of memory is not sufficient for multitasking in Windows though if you’re patient enough you could have a few Edge web tabs open at the same time. Watching YouTube videos, though it will get a bit sluggish if you never close other tabs. None of the internal components are upgradable, so you couldn’t add more memory or more storage.
This laptop is fairly well built with a decent keyboard with a nice solid feel to it, just enough key travel but unfortunately it is not backlit, but I guess at under $200 price point it’s to be expected. The touchpad is responsive and supports basic trackpad gestures like scrolling, zoom in and out, right-click. There are also plenty of USB ports - 1 x USB-A 2.0, 1 x USB-A 3.2, 1 x USB-C 3.2 and even an HDMI 1.4 port which is a nice touch. Additionally, it still has a standard headphone jack. The built-in 720p Webcam, microphone and speakers complete the package that also make teleconferencing easy.
The overall built quality is OK, light weight, cause it’s all plastic. The screen is a generous 14” and at 220 nits of brightness is clear enough to view in most lighting conditions.
Performance-wise this laptop is a slouch from beginning to end. The initial setup takes forever because Windows needs to finish installing and updating and with only 2-threads the CPU is pretty much running at 100% at all times. If you know your way around Windows, you should disable as many start-up items and background tasks and apps to give the wimpy Celeron and 4GB of RAM a fighting chance. Don’t expect this laptop to be a performer in any category. It is also running Windows 11 Home edition in S-mode which is designed for security, exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store. If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to switch out of S mode, not advisable.
So far my use case is basic web browsing, email and playing solitaire while watching TV. Of course you can also run O365 apps like Word and Excel. Personally I prefer my touch-screen Chromebook at a similar price-point over any entry level Windows laptop.

Extremely Slow! I ordered this refurbished but it was in perfect condition. It was just a really slow processor which is taxing if you are trying to browse the web.
