Not going to be using this for intensive work? Then this is the perfect laptop for you. It's not super amazing, being only a 2 Core/4 Thread CPU, but the boot times are fast thanks to the SSD. The cost is priced accordingly for what you're getting. The full numpad helps for clerical work like if you're using this to file taxes. Temper your expectations when purchasing this and you won't be disappointed.

But for the money, it is an excellent buy. This version had an 256GB SSD only, and 8GB RAM, and a 3rd gen AMD Ryzen. Great for a college student.

For an aspiring writer

She had a IdeaPad S145 on her wish list. But that was before the lockdown and laptop prices shot up. I am glad I waited. I like this laptop because it has an AMD processor (my personal preference over Intel). Setting it up was easy according to my daughter. She likes that she can use it on the other side of the house, away from her brother (who can be VERY loud). At $400 USD, this was $100 more than than what we were planning to spend on a Christmas gift for her. But I think it was a good investment. It wasn't purchased to play games, just to write stories with. But as with anything, it does have some small games on it. LOL Good job Lenovo!

It is very fast! The only thing I can say bad about it is that there is no ethernet port to plug into a router. You have to use WIFI only.

This laptop comes with Windows 10 in S Mode, but I was able to turn that off in literally 2 minutes. Just Google how to take Windows out of S mode, there are 100 videos showing how it's done, but it's so simple, so don't let that deter you from buying this laptop. Otherwise this thing screams, with startups that rival my old MacBook Pro... The solid state drive is so much faster for startup and shutdown. The 8GB of RAM (6 in reality with 2 dedicated to the video graphics) is more than enough for my needs. My biggest concern was if this would do what I bought it to do, and that's record and edit music with my electric guitar. I use Presonus Software with Ampire as my amplifier emulator and it runs so flawlessly... And the graphics are simply stunning! If I could make one recommendation, it would be to go to the Radeon website and download the software to manage your drivers. It will identify your components, then download and install the latest drivers and software... At first I wasn't overly impressed with the video quality, but then I ran the software to update everything and after that, the video is simply stunning. Also, a few other folks have mentioned a lousy camera, but I didn't care about that, and to my understanding Lenovo has updated drivers you can install to help with that. Also a few others mentioned the plastic being cheap, almost like a toy... I don't know what their expectations are for a laptop under 400.00 with this kind of performance, but I can assure you, it's a nice solid plastic with a brushed metal look... Overall, I would absolutely recommend getting this laptop.

You can keep your computer running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". Screen could be brighter but w/e was 379$. Sound isnt that great either but I have never seen a laptop that does. Probably best performance for the money on a new laptop at time of purchase.

Easy to Use, Great for my Parents

Got it for my mom and dad, mom's great with electronics and figures them out easy, but dad not at all and even he's only messed up with this laptop maybe twice so far, which is a great feat. They only use it for the internet (and in mom's case I taught her how to connect it to the roku to watch shows I have downloaded for her) I didn't even bother with the Microsoft suite for them and it works just fine for that. Decent battery life, good screen, great price.

Runs TOS trading software very well

Basically all I use this for is to run my trading software and basic internet usage. The 8gb ram and the ssd make this a very good laptop for that purpose. I also love the fact I can upgrade the ram if need be to 12gb for about $150 extra. I would recommend this laptop to any fellow daytraders. It doesn’t break the bank and supports heavy memory softwares with ease. The processor is awesome also. Super speedy. Keyboard is massive also so if you have big hands you would like this.

This one is the perfect upgrade. It does pretty well for gaming even though it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card. The only thing I had to change was to switch out of Windows 10 S Mode. It's way too restrictive for probably 50% of the people using laptops.
