I bought this laptop after purchasing, exchanging, and then returning the new OLED Spectre 13. My reasons were: -Crackling speakers above 65% volume on almost any music and video (both units I owned exhibited this characteristic, and as a musician this was unacceptable to me) -Clacky trackpad (also on both units) -Keyboard was offset to the left and made typing difficult -Dots on OLED screen- especially visible on whites and greys- however, contrast and color accuracy and vibrancy are best in class on the HP- probably amazing for video and picture editing What makes the Lenovo superior: -Build quality is top notch -Incredible sound system for a laptop- almost like listening to a Bluetooth speaker -Much more comfortable and well placed keyboard- my typing accuracy doubled -Trackpad is larger and sturdier -the 14" screen makes streaming and browsing the web much more enjoyable -The battery seems to last about 1-2 hours longer -Geekbench, Cinebench, PcMark 10 and Novabench benchmarks were higher on the Lenovo than the Spectre I had the Spectre for about 4 weeks before exchanging it for the Lenovo, so I had plenty of time to form my opinion. I hope that this review helps those who may be on the fence between the two. Build quality is so important on a laptop, and I feel much more secure with the Lenovo.

Great laptop, especially with the discount. The feeling of the keyboard and the material is top-notch. The sound quality is very impressive. I switched from surface pro and there are several things can be improved. First is the pen. It is smaller and slender than surface pen. It is not easy to use at first and there is no “eraser” at the top. The second is the fan noise. The fan will run start constantly even stays on desktop with almost no task. It still happens when I update to the newest driver. I try to change the battery plan but there is no option. The noise is not crazy loud but it is obvious with a quiet surrounding. It is very close to a perfect purchase(4.5/5). This is the best price with such configuration. But definitely can be improved.

Love it so much just right for me I also got the mouse super cool on Lenovo.com...but gave it a 4 star because of the first laptop that was malfunctioning and killed my thrill the geting this in my hands that day.. but so far Great computer will recommend...

Terrible Built-In Defect in Otherwise Great Laptop

I love everything about this computer EXCEPT the major defect with the screen. It is the same one everyone has documented where the taskbar takes over the screen. When I went to Best Buy, they said it was the first case they had seen with this new model but that it was common defect with older Lenovo models. I replaced the computer with the same model thinking it was an isolated incident. It was not. DO NOT let Lenovo tell you any different. This is a BUILT IN defect as attested to by Best Buy and CANNOT be solved by simply deleting competing anti-virus software. It is happening to MANY people with this exact same model. Very dissapointed because otherwise it is an excellent machine. Amazing screen resolution and brightness, comfortable keyboard, sleek look, the two-in-one function works seemlessly, the built-in stylus is really helpful and the sound bar has a smart location. It's also light but with a solid-feel which is great when you're using it as a tablet. I love everything about this laptop other than the glaring built-in defect that Lenovo is trying to pass the blame for. This issue showed up only a few weeks into me having the Lenovo, so I would recommend paying attention to your warranty period and sending it back when you see it happening as well. If you feel you can live with the defect feel free to buy it, but as Best Buy told me, it would be better to replace the computer because the defect will only get worse with time, it will not go away because it is built-in to the computer itself, and then you'll be strapped with a $1,500 machine when you could have used that money to have a slightly less sleek option that actually works the way its supposed to. 1 Stars because the computer is admittedly nice, but again I recommend looking elsewhere. (Also, the purchase date is from the replacement laptop I received after finding the defect in the first. I would have purchased a different laptop if I knew then that it was a widespread problem.)

We are sorry to hear that you had issues with your Lenovo Yoga C940-14 4K model. It is possible that restoring the computer back to original factory settings will correct the issue you encountered. This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the bottom of the computer, at the bottom left corner of the cooling vent on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. Once you have the computer reset, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

I got the Lenovo Yoga C940 for about a year now and it has been working great, it looks modern, it is slim and the battery lasts a long time. I take the laptop everywhere and when it is sitting on my desk for a long time, I have it on battery saving, so it charges up to a certain percentage then it works until it needs to be charged again, saving the life of the battery. It is a touchscreen so it is super easy to just use both of my hands to get where I want. I recently updated to the Windows 11 and I did not have to do anything for it to do it. I like how reliable it is and I will keep buying Lenovo.

Beautiful Laptop That is a HUGE Letdown

1st let me say this is a gorgeous laptop. Screen is killer and love the design. Has built in mini sound bar upfront that actually aims at your while you use it vs under the laptop like most others. Built in pen storage and amazing screen. Specs wise this is 11th GEN 17 16gb ram 512ssd so BEAST. However this laptop apparently has a MAJOR Quality control issue. The screen. Since I got it the screen will replicate the task bar and slowing scroll it up. UPdated drivers, bios, reboot, reset etc. If you touch the screen it will go away but for how much this laptop is and is a HUGE let down. ALSO FYI Lenovo warranty Starts with 1st Owner so if you buy open box like I did, it had 1 MONTH WARRANTY LEFT & thanks on Lenovo not best buy. I was very disappointed in this laptop after working on and currently owning a Lenovo Thinkpad but apparently there is a Major difference in quality. The screen thing is common look at the best buy reviews or even look at other sites. Plenty of owners with the same issue. With this laptop it seems its hit or miss on quality control. Go for it if you want but make sure you buy Geek Squad warranty because Lenovo Customer service will have you frustrated.

Within days of purchasing this laptop the screen began to have problems. The bottom section of the screen would replicate multiple times covering the entire screen. So far, it has returned to normal after touching the screen. This has been documented by several other owners on https://forums.lenovo.com. I am debating whether to return it. Given the price, I would expect higher quality.

    Obtrusive, unfixable screen glitch

When my computer was 3 months old, the screen started glitching. Multiple task bars appear on the display every 30 minutes or so and you can't do anything to make them go away. I've tried updating drivers and any other "fix" that anyone has suggested, to no avail. According to many resources, Lenovo has known about this issue and it seems to be specific to this model, for some reason, but has done nothing to fix it. So, I had to send it in for "repair". Based on what I've read, I doubt that it will be fixed the first or second time around. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this model.

Intel Optane SSD failed after only 6 months. This computer is owned by a 65 yo Granny. She does not stress it much at all. Mainly email and the occasional ZOOM meeting. The computer performed well but who would expect a HD failure so soon. And this was unlike any HD failure I ever encountered. It would not boot. File System completely gone. SSD no longer recognized by BIOS. In the past when a HD would not boot at least I could access the drive using recovery disks. Not in this case. I could get a windows to start from disk but still no SSD access. Very Disappointing. think twice before you get a Lenovo with Intel Optane. I don't wish this on anyone.

Highly recommend, with a few caveats. I have had about 6 or 7 laptops in my hands the last few months (thanks to return period widows), and often 2 or more at once, which is helpful for comparison. So, the C940 has very few ports, that is my 1st (and really, only) complaint (it's why I marked 'ease of use' down to 4 from 5). There is no SD card reader. Battery life is better than any other laptops I have; battery life is not good when 4K is in use, obviously. With 4K enabled, I get 6-7 hours of display time. That said, you can set display to 1920x1080 in settings, and battery life improves drastically, you'll see 9 - 10 hours of display time. Very little content is in 4K so you really don't see a difference, and you can quickly switch to 4k for instances where you want it on. Battery is 60wH, though some best buy employees will read the specs and tell you it is 45, it's not. (at one point there was a typo in the specs that said the power supply was 45wH - it's not, it's 65wH, but that is the 'power supply', not the battery) Display is gorgeous (4k or FHD), the color gamut is great. I'm very picky about the display, that's the main reason the other laptops were returned. Too often, what should be red appeared burnt-orange, and whites were too warm and creamy; NOT on the YOGA display; it's a little on the cold (bluish hue) side and reds are vivid and perfect. Blacks aren't super inky-black (my HP ENVY x360 15.6" with Ryzen 5 has the super inky blacks, but doesn't cover the rest of the color spectrum as well as the Yoga). Build quality is fantastic. I considered returning it for the non-4k model for better battery, but would lose 4GB of RAM and the optane memory (better to just switch off 4k and still have the option to enable it). The design choice to have a lip near the camera for lifting the lid is super nice. Hinges are snug and not floppy/sloppy. Keyboard is very good, in my opinion. The keys are a little 'squishy' compared to the HP ENVY 15.6" I have - not as 'clicky' as the ENVY, and slightly less travel than the Envy. 2 very different key experiences, and I can't quite say which I prefer, but if you know your own preference, that's where things stand. I'm a student, and always have about 15 tabs open on the taskbar, a few of them are chrome tabs using different accounts, and each has a few windows, and this thing NEVER slows or has any hiccups; always lightning fast. (side-note: The Ryzen processors are better at multi-threading, and you will notice that when you open your screen/login and instantly try to scroll on a chrome page and it doesn't respond for a second because it's busy trying to get the Hangouts widget to render/load; that 'waiting' doesn't happen on a Ryzen CPU, because it's better at doing multiple things simultaneously. Something to consider). I have an ENVY x360 13.3" with the 11th gen evo CPU that will get returned, as I don't notice any real benefit of the 11th gen over the 10th gen CPU, though color reproduction may be marginally better, but that could just be the display on that device. And the 13.3" is considerably smaller than the 14", I didn't expect it to be. Final note, I highly recommend this device and this configuration, IF you can overlook its lack of ports (which can be remedied by buying a hub, but who wants to carry extra stuff around). It would be nice if it were available in the iron gray, rather than ridiculous silver tones, but at best buy, it isn't. The other caveat would be, if you can wait (or play the buy-and-return game long enough) to get a device built around the new Ryzen 5000 series chips that just came out, as even the cheapest CPU in that series smokes all of intel's chips of any price-point by every metric. - Cheers (I hope I covered it all, congrats reading it all)

I've been in the market for a laptop for quite some time and did a considerable amount of research. When Best Buy had the C940 on sale a couple of weeks ago, I jumped on the opportunity and I'm glad I did. I've rounded up my score -- if I could rate it 4.5 stars, I would. The Pros: -- Great build quality, fast processor, plenty of memory. -- Speakers produce the best sound that I've heard from a laptop that I've owned/used. -- Nice tactile keyboard. -- Some question the size of the stylus (a little small), but it works fine for me with very little lag in response time. -- The stylus storage compartment is great, but it does create a slight "con" -- see below. -- 14" screen better than 13.5". -- Screen resolution and colors are fantastic. The (minor) Cons: -- I prefer an anti-glare screen, but I'm actually doing pretty well ignoring the reflections. -- Battery life is good, but could be better (most reviewers say the 4K screen is the culprit. I would have gone with the HD screen, but Best Buy did not offer an HD and 16 GB memory configuration -- memory took precedence for me). -- Ports are only on the left side of the laptop, probably due to the stylus being stored on the back right. All in all, a well designed laptop for the money, if you can catch it on sale.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga C940-14. Resetting the computer back to original factory settings may correct the issue you are having. Since the computer will not start, this system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the bottom of the device, right near the bottom left corner of the cooling vent on the device. If the problem persists after the factory reset, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo
