That is an issue for my friend as I she is older and her eyes aren’t as good as they used to be. It also took her awhile to get the clock set following the directions. Ki wish I had known this before Zi got it

We understand that the lack of a backlit keypad is an inconvenience, especially given the gift recipient's eye sight. We've confirmed that the SmoothTouch® Glass Controls on this model are a sleek glass touch panel and do not have backlighting for the buttons themselves; only the time/cooking functions on the main LED display illuminate. We regret that this design feature was not what you or your friend expected, as we know how helpful a backlit keypad can be.
Regarding the clock setting, we understand the directions can sometimes be tricky. Generally, to set the clock on this type of LG microwave after plugging it in:
Open the door.
The display will likely show a flashing time or "12H."
Use the + or - keys to set the hour, then press the START/Enter button.
Use the + or - keys to set the minutes, and press START/Enter again to finish.

Works Great Until It Doesn't

Food seemed to cook more quickly than my old Magic Chef. Just today it stopped heating as if the magnetron has died. I opened a warranty claim with LG and am waiting for a call from the Returns Department.
