    PRETTY GOOD MICROWAVE

THIS STAINLESS STEEL MICROWAVE LOOKS GREAT, WORKS GREAT WITH FOOD AND DRINKS AND THE PRICE WASN'T BAD EITHER. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS MICROWAVE IS THE ATTACHED FAN. THE SUCTION IS NOT GREAT. WHEN COOKING ON FRONT STOVE BURNERS, MOST OFTHE STEAM AND SMOKE GOES UP AND NOT TOWARDS THE FAN. THE CABINETS NEAR STOVE AND THE FRONT OF MICROWAVE GET VERY STEAMY. NOT HAPPY WITH THE FAN. ONLY REASON I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IS BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF POWER ON THE FAN

Working well. We had a little trouble with installing because it is too heavy and big. The guys in the store were friendly, helpful.

Looks nice, but very, very loud!!!

Love the look and most of the settings/presets. I especially like the kids presets for oatmeal, soup, baby food, etc. and the hot water for tea. Really wish it had a preset for baked potatoes as I really miss that from my old microwave. So far I have no issues with the way that it cooks as it does a very good job. My major complaint with this microwave is the noise. It is very loud when running and the vent fan is insanely loud!!!! I don't use the vent fan unless absolutely necessary!!

Not Even 2 Weeks After Purchase It Broke!

Purchased in July 2008. I bought this one for the look, its features & because it was on sale. It was a pain to install, you have to line up a template & drill many holes in your wall. Once installed, it stuck out pretty far & looks huge & awkward. The machine runs very loud & the vent fan is also very loud. After about 4 days of being installed, the vent fan made a weird noise & then just shut down. A few hours later, I tried it again & it had a very faint hum. A week later, my husband was microwaving a couple of potatoes & the thing just shut down. We took it down, which is not an easy task since the thing weighs about 60 pounds. We opened it up carefully to check the fuse. We found that the vent fan had completely broke apart into little pieces. We also replaced the fuse & the machine still didn't work. I called LG & they gave me 4 service provider numbers in my area. 2 of the services providers didn't service my area, even though 1 was less than 6 miles from one of them. The 3rd one was 3-4 weeks out & the last one didn't do warranty work. With 2 infants, I couldn't be without a microwave & didn't have extra money to buy a counter top one while waiting for a fix. I ended up having to return it to this store & pay additional money to get a different brand. After this ordeal, I don't have time to go through it again, so I switched brands. Hopefully I have better luck with my Samsung.

    The fan is SO loud

I guess we just should have spent more money for a better product. This takes a long time to heat or cook anything. The fan only has two speeds. High is way to loud and obnoxious, and low just doesn't do anything. Frankly I'm not sure the high speed does either. It is fairly quiet when just using the microwave. Not overly thrilled with any of the four LG appliances we bought. You get what you pay for I guess.

This is a poor quality microwave. I was under the impression that LG was a reputable company. I had a rude awakening. The microwave doesn't heat well, the light is very dim, and the exhaust fan is weak. After only a few months, the control panel stopped working. When I contacted LG, they provided me with the phone number of a local repair service. After a couple of days, the repairman took the microwave (leaving a large hole over the stove) and stated that he didn't have any idea when it would be ready. Several days later I contacted the repair service to get a status. Again, I was told that there was no end in sight. At this point, I contacted LG again, only to be told that the part is on back order for 3 weeks. When I asked about an exchange or replacement, I was, in essence, told tough luck. This leaves me without a microwave for months, as well as a gaping hole over my stove. Customer service is very poor, like the products LG manufactures! I will NEVER purchase another LG product again.

    basic microwave

We purchased this LG over-the-range microwave because we didn't have a range hood at all in our house, and our old stand-alone microwave was dying. It took all day to get this fully installed, between all of the holes that needed to be drilled and lined up and the extra wood block "spacers" that needed to be used if the lip on the cupboards was more than 1/2 ", which we had to go back to the hardware store for (they didn't have just little blocks, so had to get larger strip of wood and cut to what we needed....time consuming!) We DO like the keep warm function, as well as all of the cook time features (once we figured out what they all meant!) We DON'T like the noise of the vent....VERY LOUD. It is IMPOSSIBLE to have a converation anywhere near this appliance when the fan is on, even on "low" (which isn't much lower/quieter than the "high" setting). We have only had a few months, so hopefully stays working well, but really wish fan was quieter!!

    Surprisingly noisy while cooking

We had happily owned another LG over-the-range microwave unit for 7 years. When it died, we didn't hesitate to buy another. Unfortunately there was no comparison. The new LG unit was extremely noisy compared to our previous unit. We also noticed that the 2-speed fan did a poor job of evacuating steam and cooking odors. We wanted to give it a fair chance, but after several weeks of operation, we decided there had to be something better. We returned the unit to Best Buy and they took it back with no hesitation. Fortunately, Best Buy also handles the Samsung Model SMH9187, which is rated high by Consumer Reports and which we then purchased, although we had to purchase it from another appliance outlet because our local Best Buy store had difficulty locating one and getting it shipped to the store in the window of time we had to replace it. We are very pleased with our new Samsung. While some Best Buy raters of this Samsung had concerns about the blue digital readout being a problem, we haven't noticed any. The 5-speed fan on the Samsung is also a plus, not to mention the quietness of general operation compared to the LG.

Worst Product Ever. Waste of Money.

First, it was a major pain to install and obnoxiously Loud. 6 months into using this microwave, the magnetron went out. Couldn't heat up food anymore. Called LG and they sent a local place to come fix it. Now 2 months later the keypad numbers are going out. Awful product, poorly made. My parents own a 15 year old off brand microwave and still works to this day. And LG can't even make a product that last more than a year!! I'll have to think twice before buying another LG product. I really thought they made quality product.

As we were replacing a non-functioning microwave, the new LG is quite an improvement and looks nice in the kitchen. I like the exhaust fans, light, and control panel. The one drawback for me is the microwave is a bit noisy when it is working--louder than the microwave we replaced. That said, at least this microwave heats our food and comes on when we press power! We certainly can live with the noise for the price and other features.

We purchased this microwave to replace a Kitchen Aid that failed twice in the past year. Overall I like the LG microwave and it performs as advertised. However, it is very noisy compared to previous microwaves we have owned. The source of the noise seems to be the venting fan which has the vents set to exhaust into the kitchen. Our mounting application is under cabinet and we do not have a external vent.

    Nice microwave

The ratings for this Microwave have been basically ALL or nothing. Some love it, others hate it. Most of the complaints have been the fan noise. PEOPLE, it's a microwave. It works perfectly fine. It's under $200 and the fan does it's job. You plug in your time to cook, typically a minute or 2. Get over it. Did you complainers install the fan correctly? My installation required turning the fan 90 degrees so it would exhaust above. Works fine folks. Did you install it correctly?

    Very Loud!

We selected this microwave because it closely resembled the style of our range. This has turned out to be a mistake, since the microwave is so loud! If it wasn't so much trouble to take it out, we would return it. As it is, we will live with it, but I definitely think buyers should be aware.

Exhaust fan does not function very well

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The microwave looks nice and works very well. The only annoying thing is that the exhaust seems to be poorly designed. The exhaust runs, don't get me wrong. In fact it runs VERY loud but that's not my issue. Problem is that the exhaust fan does not seem to have any real suction to inhale /intake the stove steam and/or smoke. Even though there are two obvious exhaust fan settings as low and high, about the only noticeable thing one can tell between the two is that the fan merely gets VERY load on the HIGHER setting, but the suction / ntake is virtually the same to non existant. I have another miccrowave ( diferent brand ) where .the exhauset intake fant works BEAUTIFULLY. One can actually see the smoke being sucked up in the exhaust fan. Unfrotunately, I think LG did not design this very well.

This was probably the most disappointing purchase I have made. It is loud, hard to install and died on me after 3 days with using it only 3 times total. It had worked the first two times perfectly. The third time, the food was somewhat warm. The forth time, it was completely worthless.

We have wanted an O-T-R microwave for some time to open up counter space in our small (galley style) kitchen. This one met all of our "wants"; 1000 watts, had a shelf (still getting used to that), stainless steel finish, the price was very reasonable, and it was well reviewed by Consumer Reports online. The microwave is fairly quiet and heats food evenly. I just have to figure out how to re-heat pizza!

LG was an unknown brand to me prior to shopping for a new over range microwave. Unit was installed in rental, replacing a 5 yo roper. The LG is quieter, had more features, power and stainless steel finish for less than black. Reviews indicated this model was reliable, and has large capacity as well. Installation took 30 minutes, and only required a few new holes for lag bolts in rear support panel. This unit is solid, and seems to have high quality. I discern no negatives so far.

It looks nice, however the door seemed a little loose. It also took about 50% more time to heat things up. Overall I was not happy with this product and returned it for the same brand but 1.8 cu. ft. Model.
