Terrible

We bought the white model 5040 and it is not worth the $700+ we paid for it. The lower rack comes off the track, and the dishwasher does not clean all the dishes & pots & pans despite using the potscrubber (so not energy efficient) and rinsing the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. I have contacted LG several times. The only way you can contact them is by submitting a complaint as the pone numbers and live chat are always too busy. I have received several responses to my complaints (which began two months after purchasing the dishwasher) and am always asked the same information despite sending them the invoices and model numbers 3 times. I wish I could get LG to come and get this piece of junk out of our house.

Looks good, works horribly

I did not buy this product at Best Buy. This dishwasher looks great but works horribly. Problems:
*It doesn't clean dishes or silverware. If you put clean dishes in the machine they will come out dirtier than when they went in. It is horrible.
*Lower rack tines. The tines on the lower rack continually fall making dishes clash together. I have lost 2 dishes to this so far.
*Rinse aid. The rinse aid has to be filled every other wash. I am not sure if the machine eats it or uses it, but it keeps running out.
*Drying. It does indicate it has some high tech drying, but it doesn't work well. Dishes, especially plastic storage containers, come out wet.
Do not buy.

Just got it today and first run. I was worried about "50db" sound rating, but you can literally only hear it with your ear to it! Don't know yet about longevity or ability to clean itself, so it might go to a 5☆ soon. I'll update as needed, but very impressed so far!

We owned a basic Frigidaire one before this one and what a difference, the noise level is so quiet and our babies sleep through the night without high pitch noises and we can even watch a movie in the living room while this machine is on and we don't have to raise the volume. Cleans excellent especially with no heating element. I installed it myself and reused the old hookups since BB wanted to charge $140 for install and you had to buy a new kit for $30. Worth to take a look at as we were comparing this with Samsung but saw all the long term issues of Samsung with shorting out of sensors and computer boards.

Slow and works sometimes

Love the look and utility of this dishwasher, but functionality is lacking. First of all this dishwasher is SLOW. The cycle time (in order to dry the dishes) is about 3.5 hours. Way too long for a dishwasher. Secondly, the dishwasher often leave remnents behind for food that was not actually stuck on the dishes. Often when I pull the dishes out, I have to rinse them once again in order to get them clean.
All in all, I like the look and the options this dishwasher offers, but I would not recommend for the price. There are better dishwashers out there.

One big expensive epic fail

Yes, the dishwasher is expensive. Doesn't doesn't do the job it was supposed to and didn't from the get go. Then things started falling off the tracks and cannot pull the top shelf out anymore. Which is okay because it doesn't clean effectively on the top rack anyway.... This is cheaper now, but was more expensive when I bought it a few years ago.... I'm sorry to say it sucks. It is quiet, but I can be quiet when I'm doing nothing as well. Awful, awful, awful. I will never buy one of their products again.

Dishwasher broke the day before Christmas Eve! All hands on deck became dishwashers over the following 2 days. Did some research and went to Best Buy December 26th. I have been satisfied with other LG products I've purchased before and this was a decent deal altogether including the installation and haul away. Plan on this appliance to be around quite awhile.

I think this is the worst dishwasher I have ever had. I have to wash everything before putting it in the dishwasher. G*d forbid there is cheese on something or residue in a bowl or glass - it will not come out. I always have to put it on the super scrub mode with extra dry - because I have 3 hrs and 45 mins to wait for the dishwasher to finish up - and I so enjoy using that much electricity! Additionally, my plates don't fit well and I cannot seem to load a lot of plates with the tine configurations. With a family of 5, only fitting 6 plates in the dishwasher does not really work for us. There was a horrible burning smell when the dishwasher was new - 2 months later it still smells and they are sending a repairman out this week (at least that went well, I called on tues and they offered me a thurs or fri appt). I definitely would not recommend this dishwasher - nothing like hoping your new dishwasher will die soon so you can buy a different one!

Disappointed - don't buy

Cons: Very noisy - loud whirring noise. Must wash dishes before and sometimes after you run a full load on normal cycle. The normal cycle takes 2 hours and 21 minutes. The quick cycle (90 minutes long) does a terrible job. The inside of the dishwasher has a foul odor if you don't run it every day. The dish racks seem very flimsy.
Pro: It was cheap so I will be replacing it!

Not happy at all with this dishwasher. 4 years old and after finding out that there are NO local service repair people willing to work on a LG appliance we had to get a service rep from a national dealer only to be told that the mother board has gone bad and the repair bill is going to be $400.00. What a waste of hard earned money.

After 2 years this model developed a leak at the bottom vent. This is bad for wooden floors. LG said this normal. However this not normal and after reviewing of other people problems. it was the determined the vent fan was bad. Also I had FE codes and LG gave me a phone number to call and that number told me to call another number . I called the third number and no response. LG personnel were not helpful. LG has good products however, The vent at the bottom of dishwasher is a bad design.IF YOU HAVE wooden floors the Buyer BEWARE of vent at the bottom of dishwasher.

Stay away from LG if you've got small kids.

We've had an LG washer/dryer and refrigerator, which we've loved, so we thought we'd jump on the LG dishwasher bandwagon as well. After installing it last night, we loaded it this morning to run a cycle. We engaged the Child Lock because we have small kids (3.5 and 1.5). Within a minute of the dishwasher being on, our 1.5 year old had turned off the machine mid-cycle because the Child Lock does not affect the Power Button. I called LG Customer Support, and they explained this is a common design choice on all of their machines. We'll be returning this model and purchasing a dishwasher with a functional Child Lock that actually locks all of the buttons to prevent a small child from tampering with the functionality of the machine.

Worked ok for first 3 months….

The worst purchase and service ever! The dishwasher worked for 4 months and then would not drain. Luckily I spent extra for the protection plan…..not. The Geek squid could not do anything for me as they said LG had to take care of the problem because it was within the warrantee period. Great, so why did I buy the protection again? We'll if this was clear upfront then maybe it would not have been so frustrating as I spend hours waiting on the phone for assistance, booked three appointments only to find no one showing up, just to call again to begin the hassle all over again. The service really disappointed and the dishwasher breaking after three months wasn't so comforting either. Two weeks later, my dishwasher still hasn't been serviced.
Before the drainage, service issues, I would have given 4 stars. Oh, and my last dishwasher worked for 10+ years…and was working when I replaced it.

Dishwasher died within 5 years of purchasing. Looks like the board inside the panel burnt out. Would not recommend.
