If I could give negative stars I would. The refrigerator did not not last 3 years. My refrigerator has not worked in 4 weeks and I am still going back and forth with LG to have it fixed. The refrigerator comes with a 10 year warranty but that does not matter because it is so few technicians trained to fix the “sealed system”. DO NOT PURCHASE!!! I asked the technician how often he replaces compressors on these models and he said 4-5 times a week. However, he still failed to fix my compressor. LG will slow poke around and take forever to address fixing an appliance that is under warranty. Also, buying the GeekSquad protection is pointless because they take a week to come look and they aren’t trained to fix it. They will just call LG and report it. Just avoid an LG all together.

This unit is well configured and attractive, but the one we got seems to be defective.
The plastic plate that comprises the back of the the freezer vibrates at random times. It makes a loud buzzing noise -- so loud it makes it hard to watch the TV. We asked LG to send a service tech to fix it, their service techs are "all booked up." So they sent a third-party contractor. He seemed knowledgeable but he couldn't find a problem. On our second call to LG, they acknowledged it was not working properly and suggested we go back to BestBuy.
Unfortunately, BestBuy won't do anything to help us since we're had it 36 days and they have a 30 day return policy.
So I'm contacting LG a third time.

I really liked this refrigerator, but 4 years after I got it the compressor went out. There is no one in my area that fixes closed loop systems but it still took a week to have LG determine that. I will be getting a refund - but who knows how long that will take.

Loved the size and the set up
Better than all the rest of the fridge freezers I looked at. I’ve had it 4 years lucky me , most LG fridge freezers don’t make it this long . And they’re getting sued for it. They use crappy condensers and motherboards and we pay for quality at a higher price. I’m fighting with them now as they scratched my floor when repairing my fridge freezer. Find a better quality fridge one that lasts 10 15 years

I purchased this item from a different vendor and it stopped cooling at 10 months old. Still under warranty so called LG. They could not find anyone in my area who could fix it due to the type of coolant it had. They left me hanging with no final resolution for 6+ weeks. I have been without a refrigerator for that long as I had to wait to see if they were going to fix it or replace it or reimburse me. I called a few local service companies and more than one said LG and Samsung have history of bad compressors in their units. They recommended taking a refund due to the cost to repair is very high. I used Consumer Reports to help me choose a refrigerator. They really got this one wrong so I will not be using their advice again. Overall biggest irritation was the atrocious customer service from LG. I will never use them again as I never want to deal with this again.

Abysmal product all around

If the previous refrigerator hadn't experienced catastrophic failure AND if there hadn't been an appliance shortage, this appliance never would have entered my home, period. Even now, I would have been better off limping along with a couple of dorm fridges - or maybe even blocks of dry ice - rather than quite literally settling for this rickety behemoth. Hindsight for the win, once again.
The fridge layout isn't the least bit practical for experienced fridge users. Most manufacturers nowadays have split shelf designs, as that layout is more intuitive overall, and LG's lack thereof indicates their backward thinking and questionable designs. This fridge is supposedly bigger than my previous Whirlpool, yet items do not fit – and the dividers in the door are laughable (saying the plastic is "flimsy" is still giving it too much credit). The dividers don't stay in place, nor do they fit properly. The "meat and cheese"' drawer is another design fail, since all the little plastic packages that cheese and meat are put into slide to the back with every close of the drawer, regardless of any organizing finesse. And sometimes, on super-special unsuspecting days, those same slippery plastic items will go behind that little drawer and into the back of the fridge. My nose was happy to point out that fatal flaw after a pack of cheese vanished into that unknown realm and began to stink up everything. That was a fun discovery!
With the amount of squealing and squawking that comes from the freezer as it's being opened, you'd think the whole unit is 3,000 years old. Except, it's just 6 months old, and those bone-breaking screeches were present from Day One. Like the rest of this appliance, the freezer isn't designed for functionality either. It's just another exercise of shimmying and shaking of items, especially on that top drawer.
Lastly ... give customers the option of turning off that #&#!@$ open door alert! Honestly, it is the most annoying aspect of this appliance. Not.Kidding. If it wouldn't ruin the entire unit - haha! - I'd shoot out the speaker to silence that useless alarm. Yes, we ALL know about saving energy by not leaving the door open, blah blah blah, and that we could be human and leave it cracked open accidentally. However, a fridge door MIGHT need to hang open for a few minutes in order to be restocked after a grocery trip, no? And, maybe during that restocking, one would REALLY appreciate not being bonked repeatedly on the rear by the door - which closes no matter the maddening amount of fruitless balancing of the appliance. Again, major design flaw.
For those who have seen the movie "Office Space" and smile with glee as the main characters beat the poo out of an annoying, flawed printer ... Yeah, this fridge will be meeting that same fate, with SO much pleasure on my part. No, I won't consider donating it or selling it, as I don't want anyone else to assume this appliance's inherent problems; its ultimate demise by baseball bat is the only option so it doesn't wreak further havoc on others.
Unfortunately, this experience has tarnished the LG brand for me and any future purchases where they have players in the ring. I'll warn all friends and acquaintances - and strangers, if they'll listen - of the poor quality and will even offer to give them the Fifty Cent tour of my beast if they are still in doubt.

This unit didn’t even last 3 years. There is a known problem of the compressor going bad but instead of recalling the product and fixing the issue, LG waits for the compressor to fail and the customer to lose hundreds of dollars in food and be without a working fridge/freezer. Repair man said his company replaces 4-5 compressors on this unit EVERY DAY!

This fridge looks great and has plenty of room. However, it is unbelievably loud. Even after cleaning dust from the back and making sure it wasn't the water line vibrating on the motor, the fridge runs louder than the 20 year old one it replaced. We are thinking about putting this brand new fridge in the garage and bringing the old one back inside.

Compressor failed in less than 4 years

Purchased this fridge Jul 3, 2020. End of March 2024 the compressor failed. Have been waiting 2 weeks on LG to send someone to repair. FYI the compressor on this fridge is part of a class action lawsuit LG is currently involved in. Who never but another LG appliance again.

Dont buy. Purchased in 2021 and failed. Lg setup a repair but should receive 1st notification in 3 to 5 days. Do your research they last 3 years and the compressor fails and they know its an issue. Meanwhile 100s of dollars of food goes to waste.

29 months and compressor failure. BestBuy couldnt get a repair tech here for more than 30 days. I called a different national store chain and they'll have someone here tomorrow morning. LG = expensive disposable products.
