The floor is sometimes flooded with bubbles and water. Not yet fixed even after a service guy visit.

Admittedly, I've had this washer (and the matching dryer) for only a couple of weeks, so everything I'm saying is based upon my first impressions. This was a replacement for an out-of-warranty, 9-year-old Kenmore Elite front loader that had begun to experience electronic issues and failed washes. After evaluating the cost (and time) to have it repaired, I decided that a new washer (with a new warranty and service plan) would be my best choice. I chose the LG WM5000 and matching dryer. One of the selling points for me on this washer was its size. For my needs, the 4.5 cu. ft. capacity is more than adequate. (I've already washed a king-size comforter.) Yet, the machine itself is small enough to fit within my laundry closet (which has a 37" depth.) Note that you can't stack this particular set because the detergent and bleach dispensers are under a sliding door on the top of the unit. However, that isn't a concern for me as my closet is designed for side-by-side installation of the washer and dryer. I also chose not to purchase the optional add-on 'Sidekick' (pedestal) washer since I really don't need the extra capacity, but it's nice to know that I can always add it later if I need to. Best Buy's installation was excellent. They arrived on time and quickly had the new washer/dryer set installed, balanced and tested. Of course I couldn't wait to try my first wash. The first thing I noticed is how quiet it is. My Kenmore front-loader had something called "Quiet-Pak", and I thought that was really quiet. This LG is even quieter, so much so that at one point I walked back into my laundry area just to make sure it was running. This washer also seems to balance the loads really well, and has a much better anti-vibration system than on my previous washer. (My laundry closet is on the second level of my house, so vibration is a concern of mine.) No problems whatsoever though. As for the wash itself, my clothes came out very clean and smelling fresh. So far, I've only used the Normal and "Speed Wash" cycles but haven't yet tried the steam. Just as with my previous washer, there are likely to be cycles and settings that I'll never need to use. Still, the normal cycle completes in about 40 minutes, and the speed cycle completed in less than 30 minutes. Obviously, adding options (such as extra rinses and steam) will add to that time. (It's also nice to be able to turn on the drum light mid-wash to see how things are going.) Regarding the WIFI, as some have noted the phone app wasn't the most straightforward to set up. In my case, I have two different wireless routers in my house, both of which are supposedly compatible with this washer. Yet, for some reason the washer refused to connect to the router I wanted it to, and would only connect to the other one (with the weaker signal.) After figuring out what was going on though, I was able to get the WIFI feature up and running. I'm not really sure how useful it will be in the long run. For now, it's a bit of a novelty to have my cell phone alert me when the wash is done. I can also start the washer remotely and monitor its progress. (Will I ever really need to use that feature ... who knows?) Unfortunately, the one WIFI related feature than might have been the most practical and useful, 'Smart Grid', is one that I can't use. That's because 'Smart Grid' requires support from your utility company, and mine does not support it. The only other thing I'll note about the WIFI is that it seems that iPhone support is either limited or non-existent. (Supposedly iPhone support will eventually be available.) I'm an Android user so it doesn't affect me. However, I've noticed that some reviewers have lowered the rating of the washer, simply because of the (current) lack of iPhone support. I fully agree that if you're an iPhone user and the WIFI feature is really important to you, knowing this information and to sharing it with others is worthwhile. So in that respect, those ratings are fair and reasonable. However, although it works well for me as an Android user, the WIFI feature seems to be more of a novelty than a necessity. When researching the various brands and models, my focus was on whether the machine would adequately meet my needs in terms of washing my clothes. So based on that, and my limited experience with this washer, I give it 5 stars.

Our laundry has never been cleaner! We have been using a washing machine that was 24 years old prior to buying this... I have owned another front loader before and I absolutely loved it, and it was a Maytag but it does not compare to the LG! This machine is amazing!! And easy to use! Easy to install!! Super easy to find reviews for!! And I'm always shocked at how much I can fit into the washer!

Lovely design. Was looking forward to SMART features but only works on 2.4G not the 5g that I have. Cannot get it to connect. Some time spent in the manual but overall it's a great appliance. Gentle on clothes yet excellent cleaning. I used to monitor my clothes constantly while washing and drying but this machine has automatic sensing on just about everything. Really pleased with this brand. Got on sale Black Friday month and I'm glad I treated myself to a great laundry pair! Elegant to look at, too. Would have given 5 stars were it not for the SMART not working. I'll probably call LG for fix.

I had never owned a front loader before, and am thrilled with the ability to reach inside. We bought the sidekick which raised it off the ground. Cleans clothes in less time and whites come out white which is more than I can say with out old unit. It is quiet and chimes when done. Really happy with our LG front loading washer.

I’ve only had the appliances a couple of weeks, but so far so good. It does a good job washing. My main purpose for purchasing new was due to mold in my last washer, so I hope this one doesn’t give me as much trouble. Hence the 4 stars because I don’t know about that just yet. Also one thing that I find annoying is, the slightest touch to the power touch button, with anything, not just your finger, activates it, and has turned off on me in the middle of a cycle because I’ve accidentally touched it while walking by, etc.

This front-load washer replaced a 20-year-old front loader by Maytag. The new LG washer is astonishing! The features are endless and can handle just about anything you need to clean. The Turbo Wash is excellent with the sprays of water coming out at an angle from the front. Fun to just turn on the light and watch what the machine is doing. After you load your clothes, add detergent/bleach/etc., select the type of wash you are are doing and press start the machine will automatically lock and move back and forth to "weigh" and "balance" the load. The machine calculates how much water to use, which is so little. This washer is super energy efficient .. one of the main reasons for the purchase. It took a few tries for the guys to get it properly leveled (they need to run a wash cycle and high spin) and not just put a level on the top. Once leveled properly, this machine is super quiet. Absolutely love doing laundry and everything gets so clean. You must use the high-efficiency detergents and especially the cold version if washing with cold water. The machine will let you know when it needs to be cleaned with one of those front-loader tablets. This thing has a brain and I'm surprised it doesn't talk :-) Top of the line in function and design and beautifully engineered. Just love it!

This washer is amazing! The large capacity is perfect for all our laundry loads. My favorite features are steam, turbo wash and the custom cycles that are available to download. It is so quiet and looks awesome too!

This washer does everything I need and more! I previously had another lg washer for 13 years and thought that was the best washer but the capabilities of this washer far exceed the other one. The only thing preventing me from rating this 5 stars is due to the lack of support of the smart washer app on iOS. It simply isn't functional and appears that they put all of their support/development into the android version of the application. If I hadn't had an android tablet I wouldn't have been able to download cycles or control it remotely.

Had a Samsung that bit the dust (after working hard for 10 years). Thought I would try this LG based on Consumer Reports. It does a nice job and is quiet. Installed upstairs and stays quiet and doesn't rock or move at all. Good cleaning too.

This washer is great! It is super quiet and does a great job with our clothes. The washer has multiple settings, and we especially like the allergen setting for our bed sheets. This unit is worth the price of admission.

The repairman who gave me the bad news on my old washer didn't recommend LG, but then he doesn't work on them. Online ratings seemed pretty outstanding, and I like the Wi-Fi idea. It has a door so big I just put the full laundry bag inside, and then pull and jiggle the bag until the contents spill out. It has every preset I could think of, and one memorized setting. It is very quiet and fast. On the downside, the phone app is nothing to brag about, but it has potential. I don't like how easily the soap and bleach panel opens up if I just happen to lean on the front of the machine, but I will get use to it.

This is the finest washer I have ever owned and my last one was an LG and lasted 14 years. This new LG has all of the features you might care to have on a washer, Sanitize, Turbo wash, Alergiene, Heavy duty, delicates and many more. It does a beautiful job on each was cycle and is very quiet. I often have to walk back to the laundry room to check if it is still running. The finish is really nice in charcoal stainless and is fingerprint free. I look forward to many years of dependable service. This is really a fine product and well worth the money. I highly recommend this machine.

I really noticed the difference in the odor of my clothes. It washed my clothes much better. Everything easy to read and set. Definikteky recommend

I haven't had the washer for very long, so, I haven't been through all of the many features this washer has to offer. But, so far to the degree I have used it, I love it . I love the inside light, it allows to periodically check how much I have over soaped. I have learned that I don't need much detergent at all (good savings). All in all, it is an awesome washer. In addition, it looks stunning, it really pops.

Great washer--large capacity, numerous settings (have only tried a few, but they work well), looks great and does an excellent job cleaning. Too bad the matching dryer, which also looks great and has similar numerous options and high-tech features, doesn't do its job as well.

Does a great job cleaning, but it does have more vibration than salesman claimed. Only other disappointment is that I am constantly turning it on with my body when reaching a shelf above it - it takes 2 buttons to start a load though so not a big deal.

We love our new LG washer and dryer set. We have always chosen to purchase LG for our laundry appliances. Like the new design and options. Works great and the sidekick washer is so convenient. The only downside is that the App for the wifi feature isn't available for iPhone. They say there's something in the works, but no date yet. Overall we're happy with our purchase.
