This LG is my first hi-def purchase, not just because of money or that my old tv still worked just fine... but because i was waiting for the perfect combination of features and picture image clarity. This one fit the bill to a t!!!! I looked at several different tvs on this purchase, and any number in the years beforehand, and this is by far the clearest and sharpest image i have ever seen on a tv. Extremely pleased with the usability and additional features (apps, etc). If you're looking for a new hdtv, this is the one you want!

I had this TV for 2 years. Its broken already. The picture won't work. You can hear sound when watching something, but the picture is static. The menu comes out all clear shows pic. previews but as soon as you select the thing to watch it goes static with just sound. Its not cables or the blue-ray player or what ever I hook up to it. I checked it all. Reset the Tv. Installed all updates nothing fixes it. After all the trouble shooting I checked online and there are many post about this same problem. This is a manufacture problem.

I just received this TV today, and couldn't wait to hook it up. Watched a few things on it, and looks awesome. I can mess around with the settings to make it look even better I'm sure. I haven't really noticed any motion blur. See, you can't just get bummed that it says 60 hz. That's taking it at face value. You have to realize that LG has great technology that, while it is 60 hz, their technology makes it seem even better. I have this paired with the LG NB3530A which produces great sound.
Now that being said, I could have bought a better TV for more money. This was $900 regular price, and I got it for $500. Are there better 4K TV's out there? Of course, but for the price this was a phenomenal deal. I hate when people review things and they dock a product a star or two because it's not as nice as others. Well, I openly admitted that there are nicer TV's, but I factor in the cost and determined this was a tremendous value. That's why it's getting 5 stars.
It'll be nice when Comcast rolls out 4K programming within the next couple years. Great TV and an amazing value. The 49 inch is perfect for our living room, and when we move into a house in a few years, we'll throw this in our bedroom and get maybe a 60 or 65 for the living room. LG of course, they will always get our money. They make quality products.

Average to above average TV. Obtained on Black Friday week. Color and framing is good and images sharp enough. The 2160p only pops if you're streaming online since at this point regular TV broadcasting is only at 1080p as far as I know. Streaming online content is great and the picture is fantastic. Unfortunately my biggest gripe is motion blur. Watching any sports games or fast-moving movie scenes will distort the image on-screen. Very annoying. Otherwise it does the job for a cheap price.

I had been tracking SmartTVs for sometime before buying this TV during Thanksgiving promotional sale. I was almost going to buy a Samsung TV but this was a better deal. This TV is definitely a good buy for folks who do not wish shell a bomb yet get most of the latest features and quality watching experience. I move around the States for work so did not want to invest a lot but at the same time did not want to compromise on primary features - Picture quality, Inputs, Wifi connectivity, Formats the TV reads if I want to play videos from my USB.
The downsides to be aware of - LG TVs do not support Java applets so you cannot watch videos directly using the inbuilt browser on most websites - includes Youtube, Pandora, SiriusXM, etc
This model does feature streaming videos from your laptop via wifi but the picture quality is really low. I did buy Chromecast and the difference is very evident.
The youtube app does not really show you all features that youtube offers on their website or on its mobile app. Like my playlists did not show up at all.
The remote buttons are too tight and don't have enough cues on them to operate in pitch dark.

We bought this TV in the Black Friday Week when it was available for a little less than the normal market price. We have enjoyed watching it since then. The picture quality is excellent and is viewable same from all corners in our family room. The sound is a bit lower than what it should be, but is very smooth. It is however unfortunate that it's 2 legs are wide apart and there was no other option but to buy a new TV console to accommodate this TV, which I managed to buy for $99 from a clearance, so that was added cost to me. This was not warranted and it was not clear in the photos before that the legs will be so wide apart. Due to this, I provide it 4 stars, otherwise the picture quality is great. Anyone buying it should also consider if one needs another TV console as that might need a replacement due to its wide apart legs.

Excellent TV after slight tweaking

I have a similar experience with other reviewers when I turned on the TV for the very first time. It was not a good first impression. Initially, I found the picture too bright and the black color was not completely black but has a washed out (bleached) greyish look (most visible when a movie is showing a dark background scene). However, after many rounds of tweaking the settings in "Picture Mode -> Picture Adjust", I finally got an excellent picture.
My settings for Excellent Picture Quality (Vivid mode):
RF source: Over-the-Air broadcast; Antenna
Backlight: 80
Contrast: 67
Brightness: 47
Sharpness: 28
Color: 50
Tint: 0
Color Temp: C19
Energy Savings OFF
One can also experiment with the Energy Savings mode to lessen the washed out effect. In the default OFF mode, the backlight is the brightest (so, the most washout). The backlight gradually dims (and the washed out effect reduced) as we go from minimal to medium setting. At maximum setting, the screen goes completely dark (hit any button other than POWER to turn screen back on). However, the net effect of enabling Energy Savings (except OFF) is a lower backlight output. This also renders a dimmer appearance to the overall video quality. If you desire vibrant colors, stay with Energy Savings OFF.
I also found that the room ambient lighting and the vertical viewing angle have an impact on how you end up judging the picture quality. In a completely dark living room, the strong LED backlight from the screen creates the washed out "bleached" effect (black looked grey and other colors are less vibrant). This washed out effect is very visible if the TV is placed on a higher platform. The bottom edge of my TV screen was 40" from the floor. I sat and watch directly in front of the TV about 10 feet away. Viewing from a sitting position (the center of the TV screen is above my eyes and I have to look up slightly), the washout was pronounced (especially around the 4 corners and the edges). But, when I stood up to view, the washout was much less visible. I then relocated the TV to a lower platform (bottom edge of TV screen was 24" from the floor). From the same earlier sitting position (the center of TV screen is below my eyes), I found that the washout was very minimal and the black was a much pleasing deeper black.
I don't have a wall mount so this TV position (mounted how high or low on the wall) is not tested.
Also, when viewing from a side angle (i.e. not directly in front of screen), there was some washed out effect (especially along the far edge and far corners) but it is generally less pronounced when compared to washouts seen from a vertical viewing angle directly in front of screen (i.e. looking upwards vs downwards).
Interestingly, when I changed the room's ambient lighting from "lights off" (completely dark) to turning on a 40W fluorescent bulb (placed under my ceiling fan), the washout effect was almost unnoticeable. The black was really black. I wonder if perhaps this is the optimum ambient lighting condition (i.e. a brighter room instead of a dark one). We all know how good the TV picture looked when viewed at the Bestbuy showroom. Guess what - the showroom is lit up brightly with lots of fluorescent lighting.
Now, something for the manufacturer LG to consider (if you are reading this). You have fantastic high quality demo videos and still photos which you display on the big screen demo TVs in the showroom. Please provide these in the form of a free built-in TV app (call them "test images"). So, when the consumer turns on the TV for the very first time, give him the means to appraise the TV's video quality based on a set of high quality images. Otherwise, the first impression he is going to get is a letdown, disappointing 720p
or worse visual experience instead of a 4K OMG what-I-paid-for feeling. Additionally, these "test images" can forever be used as a reference to adjust and calibrate the TV picture mode settings (brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc). Calibrating with these images is far more effective than trying to adjust picture settings off from a live broadcast of a lower quality video feed.
Most broadcast shows are 1080p or less and thus do not look that good on a 49" screen. Don't expect to see the sharpness and clarity of the demo videos in the showroom. But surprisingly, almost all TV commercials and sports programs (NFL) have superb picture quality. Maybe it is because these shows have fewer dark scenes. So, if you find yourself lamenting you just bought a 4K dud, find solace that it isn't by watching the commercials or take in a football game.
I have not fully checked out the Smart TV features (Netflix, WebOS, etc) and how well the TV works with other connected devices (HDMI, USB). So please look at ratings on these features from other reviewers.
Pros:
Overall, I gave a qualified 5-star rating for this 49" LG UF6430 model (solely from a picture quality perspective). Once the proper Picture Setting adjustments were made (very personal and subjective, of course) and the TV is placed on a lower platform (around 24" from the floor) the picture quality is Excellent. For live TV, commercials and sports programs are the best video sources to judge picture quality and that is where you see your investment dollars for 4K UHD pay off.
The TV design is sleek and slim. Has nice metallic silver rims. Only assembly needed is to attach the 2 feet.
Cons:
- The included User Guide/Owner's manual (paper copy) is too basic. C'mon LG, we are not asking for a user manual the size of a phone book. It is so much easier to learn by flipping through the pages of a detailed printed manual than struggling through a confusing GUI on-screen. For the newbie, it takes a while to get used to the remote control's navigation buttons and the on-screen GUI.
- On-screen GUI design is somewhat confusing. Sometimes to confirm a selection, one has to press the OK button. Other times, pressing the left/right arrow button is enough. If you end up confused while navigating the menu and don't want to confirm a wrong selection, my advice is to just press the EXIT button, and start over.
- TV Screen is highly reflective. If your room's ambient lighting is bright, the wall across from the TV screen will be sufficiently illuminated to create a washed out effect on the video you are watching. I suggest a lower ambient light setting but be warned that a completely dark room can accentuate the washed out effect (see above).
- No local LED dimming which may reduce the washout effect.
- No Black Level control (this is a non-selectable grayed out option in "Picture Options").
- The 2 feet are wide apart (spans the width of the screen; 43.5") and you may need a wider TV stand.
- Remote controller has no backlit buttons.

This tv has a pretty darn good picture. Although it is not a true 120hz refresh rate ( at least as far as I can figure out ) it does have a great picture. I at first had trouble with initial setup of the picture quality, playing around with the wrong settings. Reset them to factory and just fine tuned brightness. Network setup was a breeze, as was using Amazon Prime. Got it on sale and a $50.00 Best Buy gift card. Would recommend this tv.

Overall, i am happy with the purchase. great picture quality and several features for the price. The tv also looks fairly nice cosmetically. i will have to point out that the 120hz advertised is software based, a big and significant difference from true 120hz hardware. i hate semi-false advertising. This tv is for my gf who i doubt can tell the difference. do not recommend for a true videophile, but that person wouldn't be looking at this tv in the first place. overall, solid tv and value for the price!

Bought this TV the week before black Friday on sale and it was a great price. Love having a smart TV and the setup when you turn it on for the first time was really really easy. The different picture qualities are amazing and give each person to set their picture differently fire what they are watching. The sound is incredible on this TV. I currently have no extra sound plugged in and the cinema and sports mode really bring it to life!
Would recommend, nice size, excellent picture, easy setup and beautiful sound considering no extra speakers.

I got this TV in Black Friday deal. I was too much excited as this was my first 4K. Image quality is awesome no doubt but LED panel is not attached to the frame, i noticed this when i was cleaning my LED screen for the dust. When i was cleaning i noticed that LED panel is moving back and forth also every day morning when i first turn on my TV it doesn't connect to internet automatically. I have to go to setting and choose my WiFi network then it will connect. Only good thing here is that it is not asking for my WiFi password, somehow it remembers it but not the network name. Then whenever i switch off my TV and turn it back on most of the time it connects to WiFi automatically but still sometimes i have to connect it manually. I asked best buy for exchange and got the new TV but still everything is same. Called LG customer service and they do not know about WiFi issue and LED panel issue, they said send the TV to their repair center, Can't believe this to send a brand new TV from a such a good brand back to repair center. So far haven't done this as i am upset about this. Some time when you are on you tube and tries to navigate between videos TV just freezes. Sound quality is good enough, Smart share is also good

Goldilocks of TVs. Not too big, not too small! We have used it in an apartment and a big-tv room in a house. Fits well in both places! Good quality and great features. Have many devices connected to it (apple tv, ps3, wii, sound system, etc) everything works well! Sound is decent, but definitely recommend getting an additional sound system (we have used both- a sound bar in apartment, surround sound in house), this works much better. But it's not bad with just the TV sound.

Bought this 4K TV and it is amazing. You seriously could not have beat the price for this quality of a tv. My friend even bought the same exact one that day and we have not stop talking about it. I have made so many people ask me where I got it and how much. There jaw drops when I tell them. I have been telling everyone to get this tv.
Had it for about 2 months, no problems of any kind, no damage to the product in the box, and it is simple to program.

I took a considerable amount of time shopping and learning about 4k televisions and the differences in the price categories. Essentially I was looking for the best display at the right size and not over spending. This television perfectly suited our needs, does not over dominate our modest sized family room and makes EVERY program/movie we watch at ANY resolution appear much sharper, cleaner and brighter. In fact, I have commented many times that HD movies appear so clean it is as if I am watching the filming in the studio with crystal clear lighting and no fuzziness. Also worth noting, the built-in web browser and smart connect feature (displays a Bluetooth enabled device) alone were worth the upgrade to this television from our older standard HD.
