This is OLED, which means that, if your budget allows it, there is nothing better. The only reason CNET did not make this TV their top choice is because it's very comparable to the last year's model (C6?), so they consider that TV's value better simply because it's cheaper. If you're looking for the latest and greatest, then this TV is it.
The main difference between this and the next upgrade is how powerful the speakers are. However, if you're considering a TV at this price point, I expect you're serious about your Home Theater, which means you're running your sound from something othern than TV speakers, so there goes that "upgrade". Oh and now Sony makes OLEDs, but guess who makes the displays? LG does. So, you'll pay extra for the Sony "processing" and brand... and I guess the full-screen sound, which brings us back to TV speakers conversation. Also, you can't hang the Sony OLED on the wall.
The only problem is that there is almost no content. That's not this TV problem is the UHD 4K problem. I didn't even realize how amazing this TV's picture is until I stumbled across some 4K content on YouTube (I don't have Netflix, whatever).
TL; DR: if you can afford this TV, definitely buy it.

By far the best picture I’ve seen. Period. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about the rest of the set. I was looking for a set that would take all of my hdmi and streaming inputs and serve them out easily instead of running thru my amp/sound system first and get me back to one remote. The Netflix and Hulu apps run well, and there is an available Plex app that works well too. Switching back and forth between sources is easy thanks to WebOS. And let’s talk remote! The magic wand is just that. Point and click and very intuitive.
Just a couple glitches... I cut the cord a few years ago and rely on antenna and streaming. The tuner in the tv works well, but I go first to a ChannelMaster DVR, and the tv/remote don’t control or recognize it. I called LG and now have an open software ticket for this issue so we’ll see. Until then, I have a workaround: I split the antenna feed and go to the DVR and also to the tv. To watch tv, we use the tuner. If we want to watch a recorded program, we switch to that input and watch it. Not ideal, but not bad either. I was concerned about losing the guide from the DVR, but this set has a nice guide app. The only other glitch is the Netflix app usually doesn’t recognize 5.1 shows so you get no sound unless you switch your program to stereo. After some research I found this is not limited to LG and Yamaha which is my setup. There seems to be an issue with the Netflix app across multiple configurations.
All in all, this is a great set! Great picture, easy to use, intuitive, streams my movies via my Plex server. I would definitely buy this set again, and would recommend it to others.

Wow, this TV is amazing. My last TV was plasma which I loved but required a dark room. This is the closest to plasma, but is still bright enough for any lighting conditions. I tried several LED tv's to try to save some money instead of buying an OLED right off the bat, but they were horrible, like having a flashlight shining in my eyes compared to OLED. OLED offers, creamy saturated colors, and the blackest of blacks; it's like looking at a painting in person vs a reproduction on a bright backlit computer screen. If money is no object, the Sony OLED's offer better sound and warranty, but with this TV combined Best Buy's extended warranty I get the beauty of OLED with a great warranty at an amazing price. Sure, there are also some high-end LED tv's available, but for those you will pay close to or the same as for this OLED, so why not take the leap to the superior technology of OLED. I am pleased every time I watch it. You know that feeling after you buy something, that perhaps you could have done more research, found something better or found a better deal, or that you should have waited till next year for a better price or improvement of technology? I had none of these thoughts after this purchase. There simply isn't anything better in this price range and likely won't be for quite some time. LG is apparently the only maker of OLED panels for TVs and they are very difficult to make (the other companies who offer OLED TVs apparently buy them from LG rather than making them themselves) so there is no real competition to drive down price like in the LED world. So buy it now and enjoy!

After doing a lot of online research and reading reviews I knew this was the next TV I would but and it didn't disappoint. The picture quality is amazing. The black levels and contrast are just as advertised. Even my kids noticed the difference from our previous TVs. Highly recommended.

Best picture you can buy as of this posting. Amazing image quality and supports all current HDR formats. Incredible black levels that just pull you in and then add in the amazing HDR lighting and the super razor sharp 4K image and you've got something truly special. They just announced the new 2018 models and they only offer slightly increased image processing and a faster on-board processor so this is still the model to get!

I can't say enough about the image quality (especially on HDR and 4K content, of which there is more and more every day). 4K Blu-rays are epic on this screen. HDR Gaming is also exceptional. Planet Earth II in 4k HDR is a borderline spiritual experience. Beyond what I'd expect from any television. LG OLEDs have been in a class of their own, and for good reason. The TV is pricy, but the quality is unmatched in its price range.

The OLED picture is amazing and the magic remote is really cool as well. Initial set up was a breeze. 4K UHD input makes for the best picture I have seen on any TV. Switching back and forth from all my external devices is a breeze. The sound was also suprisingly good but I also purchaced a Sonos Playbar, and now the combination of sight and sound is extremely impressive. I could not be more pleased with my purchase.

Only had the TV a couple of weeks, but set up was easy. Have not watched any 4K content, but the color is great and the blacks are definitely blacker than my other LED TVs. My previous TV was a top-of-the-line Pioneer plasma from 2005......blacks on this OLED are comparable to the plasma. Looking forward to my first 4K content. Picture quality was outstanding on the closed circuit 4K content at my local Best Buy.

I went through 2 other panels before finally biting the bullet and paying a bit more than I had initially planned to. First was the Samsung black Friday special 50" for 400$ however after hooking my PC up to test some hdr game content (Mass Effect Andromeda) I noticed some bizarre flickering that I could not remove by adjusting panel settings for hdr content. After some quick research I decided on the 700$ Vizio 55" as it supports Dolby vision but the low local dimming zones were not enough to prevent light areas of the screen from bleeding into the dark areas of the screen and I personally could not stand it. After doing more in depth research I realized the only way to truely eliminate the problem of light areas bleeding at the dark areas is to go with the organic LEDs has every LED is its own light source. So I ended up getting the 55" C7 on sale for 1700$ and I'm finally truly satisfied with my purchase. Deep blacks perfect contrast ratio 120 hertz refresh rate at 1080p as well as full hdr10 + Dolby Vision support. Can't go wrong with this LG OLED

I was more than satisfied with this purchase. I knew the picture quality would be phenomenal but what really struck me was the sound quality. I have a sound bar and just stopped using it because the sound from this TV is incredible. I'm sure if you have a larger room you still might want some additional speaker but I think a lot of people will be more than satisfied with the sound quality. The image is obviously beautiful and you can clearly see that before you even buy it. Best Buy had it delivered to there store so I could come in and pick it up. Nobody should have a TV like this sitting on their doorstep while they're at work. Best Buy staff were really knowledgeable and helped pick a TV that was perfect for me.
P.S. The True black claims are no lie! True black brings a level of contrast that you never knew you were missing. Once you see it you'll fall in love.

After doing a lot of research into 4K TV's and reading lots of reviews that rated the LG OLED C7 the highest among current contenders, I must say that I agree with those reviews. Unfortunately the movies that were running on this TV at Best Buy didn't show off its true capabilities, which made me even more pleased when I started viewing some source material that showed off the capabilities of this TV after I hooked it up to the Apple TV 4K. One example is Netflix' Stranger Things, where the void is such pure blackness that it's seriously creepy!
I don't think you will be disappointed with this TV, if you feed it some good source material. Next, I'm getting a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player to run some more tests!

TV has a great picture and the color is great. OLED definitely has improved color. Replaced a 10 year old Sony with this tv. The guys at Best Buy were very helpful with selection of a tv and explaining the pluses and minuses of the technology. Off angle viewing does not appear to be an issue. I have not tried the internal speakers. Using a surround sound system.

This OLED TV has the best picture I've ever experienced. Set up was quick and learning Smart TV interface differences from previously owned Sony was easy. Very much enjoying the richer colors and deeper contrast between dark and light picture elements. Night time pictures of city lights coming from dark (black) buildings are amazingly sharp.

This TV replaced a 10 year old Panasonic Plasma. I did not want to settle for anything less than the picture I had with plasma when it was newer, this TV did not disappoint. This unit uses less than 30 percent of the power of the plasma, so you can sell that to your better half as a way of saving money on the budget! The colors are so crisp, sharp and clear it definitely beat the plasma performance. At times it feels like the people on the TV could be in your room. The apps are nice Netflix has a great picture when streaming. I use both the Amazon fire Box and the TV, honest truth is the Amazon box has a better signal and picture. I can attribute this to my cable service I think. I have the LG sound bar model SH3K. Great sound but do have some synchronizing issues at time with some of the cable channels. Overall this TV for the price has one of the best pictures available.

My 10 year old plasma finally died. Needed a tv that had good blacks and could be seen from side angle, in large living room. Looked at reviews and this one was rated very high so I bit the bullet. Picture looks great. Now I just need to spend time learning all the features. Sound is great also

The fact that it does 120 MHz native refresh rate AND both of the competeing formats for HDR (Dolby Vision + HDR10) had me sold. I tried 2 other 4K 55" panels before this one. The colors and and features plus the OLED tech is all about the best you could really need. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

We've had this thing (LG OLED, 55 inch, C series) for just shy of 2 weeks now. So far, this thing has been simply amazing in terms of picture quality, living up to the demos that I saw in the store. I've tried it out with DirectTV (HD), Netflix (HD) and our new 4K blu ray player, and it looks fantastic in all formats. I threw in STAR TREK '09 (regular blu ray) to test out the blacks and was pretty amazed at how all of the space scenes looked. I tested it with MOANA to see how the colors worked on it and was pretty blown away. The LG soundbar that we bought pairs up nicely with this TV and does a good job of scaring the cat.
I've been careful to avoid anything that would cause any sort of burn-in or image retention as that seems to be the only real complaint that anyone has with this TV. I don't play video games on my TV (I have a gaming laptop for that) so I shouldn't have any issues in the future with burn-in, but I'll remain cognizant of the danger regardless.

Tv has an amazing picture. Make sure you turn off the power saving mode as it makes the image too dark. You can fine tune it and make it darker in other settings. Netflix and Amazon Prime work well with the exception of the audio getting distorted from the start of an episode. Doesn't happen all the time just sporadic. Might be the wireless stream but our network speed is about 75Mbps at that location (higher closer to the router). The black levels are sick and brings you back to the good ol' plasma days. Crazy how thin the tv is, which also makes it very delicate. Make sure to watch the un-boxing video if you plan on doing that yourself.

I had been viewing this tv for awhile, read all the reviews and decided this would be the next tv to purchase next. A few weeks later, old tv stopped working( I thought), needed to buy one. Looked at it in the store, and was truly amazed by the clarity of this tv. The colors are truly stunning!!. Black is really black, red is really red and so is every other color. After the purchase, I was kicking myself about the price. But once you look at tv, it was well worth it. If I could have afforded the 65inch, would have got that, but the 55 is just fine!!
