Set up was simple. I use this for my new 2-in-1 laptop that didn't have a preinstalled drive. This serves the purpose when I need it.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to use and good replacement for older laptop with DVD/CD-RW that is having a harder time reading discs whether it's new or few scratches, you can always hear it seeking data and takes a long time for it to finally work. Once i installed the new LG 8x External USB 2.0, Windows recognized it and I installed the DVD game disc and it installed flawlessly, no more constant seek time. Bought two more for my other older laptops I use for local gaming.

Works great. I don't play movies thru it so I cannot speak to the noise level, but I haven't noticed it when in use.
