Better than a Flip Phone for texting

I'm recently retired and do not need a smart phone. When I told the Best Buy salesman I wanted a "dumb" phone with a keyboard for my Verizon account (no one calls anymore, they text), he showed me the LG - Extravert 2 in blue; literally the only non-smart phone with a keyboard that he had to offer (and he only had one in stock). The phone is a nice size; it's pocket friendly, unlike some of the newer jumbo phones. Call quality is decent. contacts, ringtones, messages, etc. easy enough to handle. the phone has a camera but it's only 2 megapixels; not great but serviceable. There is a slot for a 8gb microSD card to store all those average photos and a bunch of tunes, too (haven't tried that). The keyboard buttons seem a little stiff after navigating around the phone on the touch screen, but you get used to it soon enough. The battery lasts me about a week between charges. THE BIG PROBLEM with this phone is that if you don't lock it with a passcode AND push the locking button, you can pocket-text anyone in your contact list (ask my wife). If you want a phone just for calling and texting and you remember to lock the phone before you put it in your pocket, you'll be fine with this phone. If you want more and better (and you want to pay for a data plan), go smart phone.

Good slider phone. Easy texting and basic functions to avoid the smartphone complexities and costs. Biggest down fall is no dictionary or spell check.

I bought this phone because I didn't want a smart phone. The phone is good for calls and texting and I do like the slide-out keyboard. However, the phone has some issues such as it does not delete messages easily - I have to go through one by one to delete and there are a couple that I haven't been able to delete at all. Despite the touch screen, the phone doesn't have a lot of usable extra features -Internet and apps are tedious to navigate. The camera is average quality and the touch screen is sensitive so I have to keep the phone locked when not in use.

This is a great 1st phone to get your kids... It has a touch screen so they can look relatively "cool", but you don't have to go with a data package worrying about all that entails for young kids. The phone has a lot of neat features and an awesome slide-out for texting. My daughter goes to town with that with her BFFs and her Mom. ;0) Although this little number is no iPhone 6, it still rocks!

The screen is bigger than the old LG basic phone that my daughter had before this one. We got a smoking deal! Verizon was charging TWICE the cost of Best Buy!!!

Bought for my grandma. Wanted to have a touch screen with a keyboard, but didn't want to have to pay additional fees every month. Certainly not the best out there, but it hasn't given us any issues. It is just a basic phone with basic qualities.

Unfortunately there is not much to choose from for basic phones. This was the best offered for someone who wants a qwerty board. Would prefer a flip phone like the Samsung one I had.
Long battery life so far. Gone three to five days without having to recharge. Easy to text.

I am mostly satisfied with this purchase. I did not want a smart phone, and requested one with a pull-out keyboard, so this was the only one available. The only issues I am having are with the space bar and the shift keys on the keyboard sticking. The space bar won't work until I hit it several times, and the shift key stays on after I touch it once for a capital letter and I have to hit it again or I type in all caps.

This is the perfect phone when you want your kids to have the safety if a phone but not the access to the internet - especially all the social media junk that's out there!

It is a pretty good phone; my last one was a flip phone so I am getting used to it- it can get dirty on the front. The camera is ok but it takes a few seconds to take a picture- it is not instantaneous.

Originally bought a Galaxy S5 for my SO but she did not like it and traded it in for a basic phone. Not many of these sliders left on the market unfortunately as the carriers all push us towards potentially useless data plans.

This is my first touch screen phone and so far it's been only ok. If I am just holding the phone the call gets disconnected due to the touch screen. I had to go spend money on a bluetooth just so I could get through a complete phone call. This is not a great phone but it is good enough and since I don't need or want a smart phone it meets my needs.

Phone is terrible! Drops calls constantly because of phone/face contact with no way to resolve the problem. Hate this phone!
