    Linksys delivers as usual

Just as the title indicates, Linksys delivered with this router, as you would expect. In my opinion, it’s tough to go wrong with a Linksys router. I’ve had several over the years and have never been disappointed in the ease of setup or reliability of the Wifi it delivers. That is all still the case with the Hydra Pro 6 AX5400. Mesh routers are the latest wave for Wifi technology with the expectation that they offer a farther reaching and stronger Wifi signal to your network. The Hydra Pro 6 is supposed to cover up to 2700 sq. feet. I can’t speak to that exact coverage, but I can tell you that I have a detached garage from my house that you have to go through my backyard to reach. On the furthest side of the garage (facing outward), I have a security camera connected by Wifi. I have always struggled to find a router that puts out a Wifi signal far enough and strong enough to keep the camera online consistently. So far, I have not experienced any connectivity issues with this camera while using the Hyrda Pro 6. That’s a huge plus right there in my book. With Internet security being such a big deal, this is also equipped with the latest Wifi security to protect your privacy and information, so another big item to check off the list as well. Lastly, I think most routers are pretty straightforward to setup these days and that’s certainly the case with the Hydra Pro 6 (as long as you’re comfortable using an app to do so – which again, I’d say that’s very standard these days). Plug it in, setup the app to get your home Wifi network up and running and start connecting devices.

Overall this is a pretty good router. The coverage is less compared to my old router but surprisingly I didn't find any new dead areas. Mostly I got this router for the AX and Wifi 6 technologies to future proof our network. I barely noticed any increase in our speeds though. We stream a lot of devices like tablets, TVs, and phones and haven't had any buffering issues. There was no lagging issues when gaming. We did have problems with our phones getting connected to the 2.4ghz band and having massive slow downs. We ended up separating the band to make it not auto connect. The 5ghz had really good coverage and speed. It paired well with our older Velop nodes. I'm hoping to notice some performance improvements when we upgrade to newer nodes. It was mostly plug and play but I really hate how Linksys forces you to download their app to setup the router instead of letting you do it in a browser. I'd recommend this for anyone with a router older than 3 years or with 1GB speeds. It doesn't seem worth it otherwise.
