The camera install is fairly straightforward, you insert the microSD card. And I would suggest setting it up, indoor first, its just easier that way, than installing it outside and then setting it up freezing in the cold wind, and downloading firmware updates further away from your wifi router. Anyhow, the first thing you would notice is, that its NOT the same Lorex app as the older cameras. Apparently there is anew app called Lorex Connect, and the one I already had Lorex Classic doesn't support this. Not user friendly. Once you have the app and are logged in though, the setup is fairly straightforward. Now that the camera is connected to your app, you can install it. There is a sticker for drill hole positioning, so that's easy enough. But I don't know why the wire has no secure path through the neck/housing. Either ways you really need to plan your install, since this camera comes with a normal adapter. There is no option for hardwiring, and the adapter is fairly big, and the cord length is not that great. So, measure that your cord will reach the outlet, before installing the camera. I had to drill a hole into my garage wall to fish the wire through, since I didn't want to isntall it on the exterior outlet for someone to simply pull it out. And there goes your security. Now don't get me wrong, the camera does what its supposed to, the panning works as its supposed to, the light is pretty bright, the video is crisp even in low light. However, I had such high hopes with this camera. I have a few Lorex cameras already, and they do their job. There is no subscription needed. There is local storage of video. So, you have remote video access, control of lights, and on some cameras even the ability to speak out of the camera using the app, and communicate. But honestly, their achiles heel has always been motion/ people detection. They always seem to over notify, and sometimes with the constant notifications, you start to ignore them. Anyways, I had hoped that the newer ones would be better, with smarter detections. But no matter what I do with the settings, they either get triggered with just tiny gnats flying in its field of view, or only catch a person when they are fully centered, and sometimes never if they pass through its FOV quickly. Again, a decent camera does its job, but I would rather have it over notify me, than not, so those are the settings I have landed on, however annoying.

I actually was pleasantly surprised by the features and versatility of the Lorex 2K floodlight security camera. I have used a few of its competitors in the past and wanted to try out this in one of my rental properties. The set up is quite easy but the connection cord can be longer, especially if one is thinking about setting it up at an elevated height. You need the app and a wifi connection. The app is intuitive enough and wifi set up was a breeze. This was my first time using any Lorex product and the app seemed nicely done and user friendly. One of the better features is the Pan function that you can control through the app. It pans horizontally and not vertically and can follow the motion of the person it has in its sight, much like a robot. One can set up the floodlight function on the app by controlling the intensity (and it can be surprisingly very intense). It also has a surprisingly loud speaker that can sound a siren (when set manually) and act as a two way conversation tool using the microphone. The video and alerts are sent to the phone and you don't really need a subscription. There is a micro SD card slot that can be used to record as well. The resolution is clear and 2K is more than plenty to give clear crisp images. It also ensures that not too much space gets used in the storage device if you are using one. Night images are black and white in the factory mode, but you can change it to color in the settings. Night time resolution is respectable. The only caveat has been that alerts can be a little inconsistent and laggy. Overall, a good recommendation at this price point.

Let's be honest. This is a complicated world we live it and security cameras are a must have to protect ourselves and our families. The Lorex 2K Floodlight Wi-Fi Security Camera is my second Lorex camera. But with 2K video it has much better quality than my previous Lorex camera. There are so many features to love. Once you get it set up, you can pan the camera to the specific area you want to monitor using the app. And it is amazing at tracking moving object within its view. I also like brightness of the 1500 lumen, 6 LED light. You can set it to come on when it detects motion, or set it with a schedule, or you turn it on manually...all within the app. 2-way audio is another nice feature. It won't win any awards for audiophile quality, but it's plenty good enough for conveying your message, or telling intruders to scram. But probably my favorite feature of the Lorex 2K Floodlight Wi-Fi Security Camera is that there is no subscription fee! Yes, Lorex offers a subscription service that includes, among other things cloud storage, but you can keep your recordings using microSD card, so no worries. The Lorex 2K Floodlight Wi-Fi Security Camera does it all. I've been so impressed by the 2K Floodlight Wi-Fi Security Camera I plan to buy additional cameras to cover my whole house.

I want to start by saying I am a fan of Lorex and their camera systems, however, this Lorex Floodlight camera, not so much. First of all I have a Lorex 4 camera system that I still continue to use. I had the Lorex CLASSIC App installed on all our devices and once I got this camera charged up and put up the mount in the location I wanted it, I opened the App and began “trying” to pair my device w/ the floodlight. Each and every time it would not pair. I then realized that I needed to download Lorex CONNECT App. This is a game changer for me and not a good one. Why not just allow to pair in the CLASSIC App and not have to have 2 separate Apps to monitor the same companies camera? If that were the end of the story it wouldn’t be that bad, however, the CONNECT App would not work time after time after time. It will allow me to get to the step to choose a Wi-fi network and it would not allow me to connect, I have no clue why. I turned off the device (two separate devices) I finally unplugged the power to the floodlight and plugged it back in and it connected FINALLY! Again, if that were the end of it, I would have been okay, but the settings on this camera are “funky” to say the least. The light is very bright, the siren is ehh, and the cord is just not long enough. Very disappointed in this Lorex camera, and I had HIGH hopes for this. Sadly, I will have to keep looking as I would not recommend this one.
