I had always had HP laptops. I have an iPad and iPhone and when looking for new laptop, after reading lots of reviews on tech sites and by customers, I decided to try this MacBook Air with the M1 chip. I am really glad I did. It is fast, works well with my HP printer. The track pad is so responsive and easy to use. I never liked using my old laptop much unless with a mouse, it was so hard to do anything on. I prefer this trackpad to a mouse. Keyboard is good, easy to use and lit up letters. There was a little learning curve switching to a Mac but I am loving it. I can't believe the difference in how long the charge lasts. With moderate use, it lasts for days, and charges up quickly. I also enjoy that it doesn't have the awful loud fan and doesn't get hot in my lap. I can't see ever going back to the other laptops again. I know people that got the pro because they have a business, etc. For me, for casual use and a little business related stuff, this one is awesome. I recommend!

Fast, great battery life. Light plenty of speed and performance. I’m sure the M2 chip is even better but for the money, especially if you catch it on sale is a great buy.

The seamless integration between hardware and software creates an efficient and enjoyable user experience. The Retina display is stunning, providing vibrant colors and crisp details. The 2020 MacBook Air is actually pretty nice, I purchased in silver. The highest compliments I have for this MacBook are how fast and fluid it is and the portability. The display is crisp, the keyboard is backlit and feels very premium when typing. The Touch Bar has so many useful features and controls. The MacBook connects easily via WiFi or Bluetooth never has trouble searching or being found. No USB port is a bit of a bummer but also gave me an excuse to research adapters that are compatible to my device. The photo booth camera is still on the crappy side, the mic holds up pretty well. And the speakers have a decent max volume. The Touch ID button is ok, faceid would have been better. Also the screen size is great for editing and typing whatever you may need, I suggest getting it. Especially small business and students. I am both.

I first picked up the Samsung Galaxy Book Flex2 Alpha 13.3" QLED Touch-Screen laptop but soon got tired of all the Microsoft prompts like "Would you recommend Windows to a friend?" and how they force MS Teams on you (like they used to do with IE when it was new). That laptop would also spin up its fans every once in a while - sometimes while it was just sitting by itself.
I returned the Samsung and picked up the M1 MacBook Air. I know the revamp I really want is coming next year, but I needed something to replace the underpowered Chromebooks in my home which weren't able to power through a Zoom session with more than just a handful of people sharing their cameras. I've been using an M1 Mac mini as my daily work driver for the better part of 2021 and absolutely love it. It never fails me and it handles anything I can throw at it. Having roughly the same power in such a portable shell is exactly what I need - and there are no fans to distract me.

Fantastic! What an excellent computer, with an amazing battery life and performance! I purchased it and had to take it back to the store because of manufacturer’s defects, and the service was incredible, definitely the best out there. Definitely worth the price, and works well in every function, unless your doing some really serious processing or video editing, and it’s silent! Great for Microsoft programs, except for teams, if you use it that is. The app isn’t available for Mac OS and is blocked in safari unless you enable allow cross site trackers. If you use chrome the app though, it’ll work fine. The keyboard and trackpad are marvels as well! Simply splendid to use, especially the keyboard.

So, when it comes to MacBooks, I gotta say, they're pretty awesome. I've been using one for a while now, and it's been a game-changer. The design is sleek and stylish, and the performance is top-notch. Whether I'm working on a project or just browsing the web, it's always smooth and fast. The battery life is impressive too, lasting me through long days without needing to charge. And let's not forget about the macOS, it's so user-friendly and intuitive. Overall, I'm really happy with my MacBook and would definitely recommend it.

It offered a good balance between price and performance, making it an attractive choice for many users.
In summary, as of 2021, the MacBook Air with the Apple M1 chip was widely praised for its remarkable performance, exceptional battery life, silent operation, and improved value for the price. However, users should consider software compatibility and specific application needs when transitioning to an M1-powered Mac. Keep in mind that there may have been updates or newer models with further improvements released since then, so it's advisable to check the latest reviews and user feedback before making a purchase

This is my second Mac device and I love this laptop. I can carry it anywhere the operations are smooth as well as user friendly. It is light and the keyboard requires just a light touch. I purchased a mouse but I find I am not using it as I would with the desktop. The only thing missing is a touch screen.

This was a great buy for use in a small business that depends on speed and stability. The MacOS is quick, has plenty of memory for what I need. Its lightweight. Down side is the 2 micro USB ports, and the small screen for the large price. Would like to have ports two on each side like my MacBook Pro, and a slightly bigger screen. Have to buy adapters to expand or have more than one thing connected if you are charging.
First time convert from Mac to windows and had to relearn shortcuts and how the window and desktops work, but well worth the relearn.
Would recommend it to any one.

The MacBook Air with Apple M1 chip, 8GB memory, and 256GB SSD in Space Gray is a stellar combination of design, performance, and efficiency. It's a testament to Apple's commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology. While the storage may be a limiting factor for some, the overall experience, from the stunning Retina display to the incredible battery life, makes it a top contender in the world of ultrabooks. If you're in the market for a premium laptop that excels in both form and function, the MacBook Air is a compelling choice.

I bought this mostly on a whim, as I was thinking of downsizing from my Dell G5SE as my daily carry.
I was pleasantly surprised. This is so much lighter, and the battery life is amazing. The screen is bright and clear. The sound is pretty incredible for the size of this chassis. It handles everything quickly that I have thrown at it thus far. USB-C only takes a little getting used to, but not a deal breaker.
If you're looking for something lighter than a MacBook Pro that is in the Apple ecosystem, this is the one. Well, I say that as they just announced the 15" model.
I didn't think the "Air" models could do much. I was wrong.

I don't tend to use Apple products outside of Apple TV and iPad Pros. I have had MacBooks provided by my employers in the past so I'm at least able to navigate MacOS OK, but I wanted something to really experiment with without worrying about ruining company equipment.
I'm used to using heavier gaming laptops with larger screens, so this feels almost like a toy. It's incredibly light, has what I would consider insane battery life and is... fine. I've been looking around for apps or uses that Macs are outstanding at (and yes, I realize it's an Air and not a Pro) but so far the only application I've used where it noticeable outperforms any of my Windows laptops is with Ableton Live 11. There is no noticeable lag using my MIDI keyboards and controllers, where with my Windows laptops it's not possible to record live without turning off the speakers because the lag is so bad.
The interoperability with my iPad Pro is pretty impressive. I haven't really dug into what's possible yet, but have used my iPad as a second display and the setup is simple and seamless.
I'm still trying to dig into use cases for this MacBook vs my windows laptops and there aren't many. It's not capable of being a primary gaming system, though it can easily handle some of the less intensive Mac-compatible games I have on Steam. I may be using it as my primary music recording/producing system going forward, though. And it's so light and capable enough that I can easily see using this first when I go on vacation or just want a laptop with me to use at a cafe or wherever.
I suspect my initial rating may change with more use and my limited experience with Macs in general makes it difficult for me to evaluate the M1 chip. Bottom line, I'd say if portability is your highest priority and you don't need high performance for gaming or intensive creative work, it's pretty decent. Though you could probably get by with a Windows laptop for half the price for general computing.

TLDR: If you need a non-gaming laptop and can live with MacOS, this is definitely what you should buy.
As an avid Windows user who's always been wary of Apple's marketing tactics, form over function design philosophy, and anti-consumer business practices, I was highly skeptical I could ever enjoy a product from this company. That was until I got my hands on this laptop. Those aforementioned problems, while real, cannot get in the way of my enjoyment of this computer. It boots insanely quickly, is snappy in every task I throw at it, and even outputs 120hz to a 5120x1440p monitor with ease. And it does this all without a fan. Plus, it gets 2 days of battery life (in my experience). I can't believe this is only Apple's first attempt at an SoC. With all of that said, I hope Apple doesn't make it a pain to repair. Otherwise, these will end up in landfills. I sure hope not, considering their supposed interest in the environment.
