Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the compact size and fast drying times of the 2.6 Cu. Ft. 5-Cycle Compact Electric Dryer as key advantages, also noting its quiet operation and ease of use. However, some customers mention that the dryer's capacity is limited, suitable for smaller loads rather than large items. A few users also reported a noticeable odor after drying.

First and foremost I must say this machine is whisper quiet. Put it in an adjacent room & close the door, you can barely hear it. It weighs about 50 lbs and shipping weight of 85 lbs because the unit is double boxed! It could have fallen off the back of a truck and no one would be the wiser. It arrived very quickly, and I only paid regular shipping. Unit comes ready to go directly out of the box Simply plug it in, set the heat setting (High or LOW) done so by the push of a button. Then turn the 2nd and final control setting on the unit to the desired length of drying time and voila! Sit back and wait for your clothes to dry. It came with hardware to attach to wall, which I must say is actually very smart on the part of the manufacturer, but I opted for a heavy duty stand that allows the matching top load portable washer to sit under the dryer. So far, all loads dry in 1 hour or less. Essentially the only complaint I have about this unit is that you cannot hear when the laundry load is done drying. This appliance is about the size of an old 20" CRT TV set which is perfect for apartments, dorm rooms even RVs! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a compact dryer.

After un-boxing my Magic Chef compact dryer I found a dent on the side. I sent it back. Then I received the 2nd dryer with a dent in the same place.and it was returned.

    Great Little Dryer

Our Magic Chef dryer sits on an Avanti Mounting Bracket, in our bathroom. It has a Magic Chef 1.6CU washer, stored on an appliance dolly, underneath it. The dryer's leveling legs unscrew to attach it to the shelf of the mounting bracket, but, the circumference of the legs and the length of the ledge underneath the shelf prevent all four legs from being attached. We chose to attach the dryer, to the shelf, using the back legs. The bracket is not attached to the wall, but, the set up is very stable. The only accessory we bought for the dryer was a 9' heavy-duty, inside, appliance extension cord, so it could reach an outlet. The dryer itself works very well. We haven't vented the dryer to the outside yet. We use it on the hot setting. Since our bathroom is small this setting makes the room very hot, even when we open the window. So, we keep the bathroom door open when we use the dryer. It takes about 45 minutes to dry four towels and a few wash cloths, or, a queen-sized set of sheets with pillowcases. The dryer isn't very loud. There is a plastic, mesh filter and a fabric filter inside the unit, in the back. These filters must be cleaned after each use. We use a lint roller to clean the fabric filter. There is another filter in the front of the dryer. After 20 uses it hasn't needed to be cleaned yet. This dryer was an excellent purchase for us.

The size great for a small apartment. It doesn't make much noise. It's not that heavy. I love the look. I wish the knobs were on the top of the dryer. Also, it's not as user friendly as far as turning on and off the dryer. I wound up unplugging machine.

I paired this with the GE 2.6 cuft portable washer in my condo unit but stacking it on an avanti mounting bracket. I had a combination washer/dryer before and didn't realize how much 1 cuft of dryer space meant. It doesn't fit too much so its better to split up into smaller loads to dry faster. Also, the knob settings are REALLY basic. ECO mode is useless as it just blows cool air. To get hot air, you have to set the timer up to the 200 minute range for max heat. Once it drops down to 100 minutes it starts blowing cooler air. So I constantly have to check on it and turn back up to high heat if still damp. Also the felt pad used in the filter is a pain to clean. I ended up removing it and just cleaning the filter instead.

Item arrived without any sort of damage. Once out the box, it's not too heavy. It is small and easy to carry. I set it up outside on my lanai on a stand. Works great. Not noisy at all. Does take a bit longer than regular sized dryers, but great for what I need it for. It actually holds a good amount of clothes. I think it's a great buy and would recommend it.

I've always wanted an apartment sized dryer. I had been looking at them for years and finally decided to pull the trigger. This is a great little dryer. There are some notable things I wanted to mention. First this is a very shallow dryer so you are not going to be able to dry a ton of stuff at once. I have an apartment sized portable washer and if it fits in that washer than it goes well in the dryer. Second make sure the sensor dry is on. That's what is measuring the humidity in the dryer and adjusting the heat. Third empty the list trap half way through and you will notice a tremendous increase in dry time. Also this dryer doesn't come with an indoor lint kit, I knew that when buying it but they are not that expensive. You'll notice that the hose and the dryer connector have nothing to grab onto each other and the zip tie is more of a decoration. I used packaging tape to hold it on and it's been fine. You'll also want it in a room with or near a window or it will get muggy inside. All in all I love the dryer and would recommend it.

I bought the matching washer too. The dryer is actually a little smaller in capacity than that of the washer. One full load in the dryer can't really be dried in the dryer. It however does a great job with small loads. I always use it in the hot setting. The temperature settings on the dial are a bit weird. It doesn't really dry on the low settings, so I am not sure why it's part of the timer on the dial and you can't really bypass it. It operates quietly and works well. I like it and I still recommend it for 1 person loads. The filters work really well in trapping the lint. Make sure you clean the filters after 2-3 loads. Not bad for the price after 20% off as well.

extremely good buy, seems to be the cheapest portable dryer out there and good quality. Drys most loads in half an hour. My only complaint was that it leaves a chemical smell on my clothes, even after a few weeks of frequent use. Hopefully it goes away as i've never had this happen with any other dryer, including other one of the same make and model purchased just a few months before

Was double boxed yet still had a dent. Lookin at it the whole left side is one big dent. Can see the imprint of what looks like 2 studs down low. Used it anyway cause reports of shipping on these often says they get dented or worse. Drys things well! Even with the dent. However there is a skunk like odor to cotton cloths. First thing I dried was a towel. UGH! Kept using it and the skunk smell is getting less and less with each use. Talked with a person at my local BestBuy about it. He was very willing to help but,,, the shipping of these just plain sucks way too often... by all reports. The entire left side dent may have something to do with this smell? Still it does dry stuff well! YMMV?

I was surprised by how sturdy this dryer was and it holds more than I expected. It works well, is quiet, and does a good job on the items I want to dry, mainly towels and sheets. Like another user stated, if you use the eco settings the dryer will not shut off, even after the time is up. However, I find that I do not need to use eco settings, as the normal suffices for my needs. Would recommend this dryer to any one who does not need full size capacity. Item was delivered quickly, and packaging was sturdy.

    Luv My Compact Dryer

This little unit was well worth the money spent, its a space saver-nice design, I did some online research on portable dryers that have the buttons on the bottom instead of on the top, the reason for that is because these are stackable units,, I purchased a Amanti stack rack for this unit and it sits on top of the unit and my portable washer under it, thus making the knobs to the unit up higher. I would recommend this dryer to anyone that want a great value and a awesome dryer

I was pleasantly surprised with this dryer, it does a great job, it's a really good size for the apartment, had to elevate it on a holding table as I find bending to fill,or empty it difficult, but am also using the table beneath for storage, win-win. Definitely will recommend it.

I waited to do this review till I had used it for a little bit. LOL I’ve actually had it over a year now and have had no problems with it and it still works great. I would not recommend it for a big family but for two people it’s a good buy. I purchased the washer to go visit and music pretty much every day. I do home health and I like my laundry to be washed daily to prevent bringing home any critters or germs. Gets my clothes clean and dry and can do a load in less than an hour washing and drying .

It works so well that I can shower and do makeup and my clothes are ready. If I dont have or really just dont want to iron something, I put it in and it comes out good. Clothes are wrinkle free and done quick. You have to use a vac to clean the filter and you dont have to vent unless you want to but it may heat up the room a bit but its cold outside so that great if your doing 2 loads or so but its not too bad. You can get a kit to vent outside a window from amazon. Its not big so that it fits in my small apartment so well. I have a RCA compact washer to go with it. Could not fit my full size washer in this place and dont want to go outside back and forth so boy am I happy.
