BUILD QUALITY: Design wise these are on of my favorites of all time. The case is aesthetically pleasing, compact, light, and feels great in the hand. It has a two tone look where the top and bottom have kind of a faux leather material with the middle being surrounded by a rubber band. On the front you have a small LED that will turn on when you open the case to notify you of how much battery the case has (red for low, amber for medium, and green for high). It is very resistant to fingerprints (I notice none) and scratches. The lid has a little lip that you can feel making it easy to pop open without looking. It is held down by a strong magnet which makes it hard to open with one hand but also means it shouldn’t open in your pocket or bag. The earbuds themselves are also secured via magnets making it even more secure. Once you open the case you are greeted with the earbuds, along with an LED next to each one to notify you that they are charged and working. Last you also have a small brass button for pairing. The hinge is very smooth and feels high quality. But I’m afraid if you bore down on it would break. On the left side of the case, you have the USB C charging port. Top marks here. The earbuds themselves are also highly attractive, compact, and comfortable. They also have a two-tone look going on with them. The outside feels a bit rubbery for grip with the inside being more of a gloss black. It appears to be PBT into ABS plastic. There is a large M on the front with two small ports that I’m assuming are a microphone and port to allow for transparency mode. On the backside you have two pins for charging, a small sensor for it to register if it is in your ear or not, the word Marshall and R or L for right/left. When you put them in your ear, they make a jingle every time to notify you that they are paired and ready to play. Which I LOVE LOVE LOVE. It’s such a silly feature but makes it feel so much more premium. When you put them back in the case they snap into place via magnets and you have two LEDs that turn on to show you they are charging. This is another small feature that I love as it makes me fully aware of what my earbuds are doing without having to verbally tell me. When you take them out of the case they connect quickly to your phone. Usually by the time you put the earbuds in and they jingle they are connected. You have capacitive touch controls on the outside. I’m not a fan of them. They work probably 70% of the time. They are supposed to give a little tap sound to notify you it registered a click but that doesn’t always work. There is also a second or two delay when you press them making them feel unresponsive. Especially, when you don’t hear the tap sound as it leaves you in limbo, did it work, did it not. If you press it multiple times, it will freak out for a bit. It will activate if it comes into contact with anything (such as a pillow). If you have it out of your ear it continues to be active. Meaning you need to be very careful when you are putting them in, holding them in your hand, or adjusting them. Thankfully, they give you enough room and space to do that effectively as it is built into the ergonomics. Overall, I really like the design and fit but would prefer real buttons. Left earbud when you press it once activates transparency on/off. Two taps activates your voice assistant. Right earbud single tap plays/pauses, double goes forward, triple goes back. Then there are some controls for calls as well but I don’t know them off the top of my head. Microphone quality is adequate. It makes you sound pretty far off, I wasn’t in a noisy environment so I don’t know how much background noise it would pick up, my voice wasn’t horrifically treble focused and had some mids/bass to it and was clear. SOUND QUALITY: These get plenty loud. To the point that if you have them on max, they will likely damage your hearing. You can use one earbud at a time (either the left or the right). It will quickly disconnect if you put one in the case and quickly reconnect to each other when you take one out. However, I did notice some popping with them when connected to a laptop and Apple TV. When you power them off they give a quick guitar rift which is awesome. Overall, I had a good time listening to them even though they didn’t blow my socks off. Overall sound was solid. Some might even argue they sound great. There is just something that prevents me from giving that rating. As sounds were accurate but I think they lacked sparkle. Meaning it came across as clinical but muted. Highs, mids, and bass were balanced without one overbearing the others. Bass was very impressive for the size. To the point I think bass heads would really like them. Imaging was pretty good where I could pull apart different sounds (but when a lot was happening they would kind of blend together). Directional quality was adequate. In the end if I had to sum it up with a single sentence the overall sound is flat and neutral. In the Marshall app you have access to a 5 band EQ which does change the sound a bit. I left it on stock Marshall preset for my testing. Overall, I have no real complaints about the sound but nothing that really wow’s me either. TRANSPARENCY MODE: It’s not good. It works alright as you can tell it focuses on voices and tries to kind of mute everything else. It has surprisingly good directional quality to it. But if I’m wanting to be aware of my surroundings this doesn’t do it as I can’t really hear what is going on around me outside of voices. When I was talking to people, I could hear most of what they were saying but had to really focus. You can activate it by pressing the left earbud and it gives a little jingle. It took me a while to learn which jingle was which. Mostly because I honestly couldn’t tell when it was on or off. I’m also left perplexed that you have transparency mode but no noise cancelling. Especially, at this price point. CONCLUSION: These look great, feel great, and are very comfortable. The physical design, aesthetics, build quality and functionality are some of my all-time favorites. The little features of having them jingle when you put them in your ear, having an LED light when you put them back in the case (for each earbud) to show you they are charging or charged when you open the case is a very welcome feature, as is having a dedicated pairing button, and solid front LED light to notify you how much charge is left in the case is next to none. When you disconnect from them it will give you an awesome guitar solo which is great. But it doesn’t support multi pairing so to pair to a new device you need disconnect from the current device or go into pairing mode. Sound quality is solid but not great. The case is IPX5 and the earbuds are IPX4 which is good but not great. Touch controls are meh, transparency mode is meh, battery life is fine (4 hours or 24 hours with the case), microphone quality is fine/good, and I find it is priced in the premium tier while not delivering premium features. If they were in the $130 range, they’d be fire. At $180 it’s hard to recommend as you can get noise cancelling, better transparency, longer battery life, among other things for the same price if not a bit more. Leaving me on the fence. As each morning I pause at my wireless earbuds collection and have to decide do I want something that looks and feels awesome (in a totally separate league from anything else I own) but is average for everything else or do I want something more utilitarian that performs better (noise cancelling, transparency, sound, and battery life) but functionally isn’t as good? That’s a choice only you can decide.

The Marshall brand has been around since 1962. Primarily it is known for its line of guitar amplifiers. The brand in the past few years have decided to venture into the consumer space by launching Marshall branded bluetooth speakers and wireless earbuds. And for those who don’t know, Marshall Bluetooth speakers and wireless earbuds are manufactured by Sound Industries, a known OEM manufacturer for Bluetooth audio devices based in Sweden whereas Marshall is based in England. But that does not necessarily mean that Marshall speakers and earbuds are not good. So let me tell you why by reviewing the Marshall Mode II TWS earbuds. Let’s start with the build quality and design aesthetics. Overall, I like the design aesthetic of the Mode II earbuds. The charging case is small which IMO is good and generally made from plastic. But what I like most about the charging case is that it has a rubberized texture similar in feel to the housing of Marshall amplifiers and speakers. The iconic white Marshall logo is clearly pronounced in the case. The earbuds themselves are made from plastic with a rubberized coating with the white M is displayed. Clearly, this is branding in general. Highlights the status of Marshall. It projects itself as a lifestyle audio device which unlike others need to be touted heavily. But with the Marshall logo, it already speaks for itself. So now we have established that the Marshall brand is iconic. But what about its performance? First, it boasts of around five hours of continuous playback with an additional twenty hours provided by the charging case. While it’s true that other TWS earbuds can have more battery power, this really becomes moot since wearing earbuds for a five hour stretch is not realistic. You can argue about what about long flights. Still you won’t be wearing your earbuds all the time. You’ll also have a break in listening to music by either sleeping or watching a movie during the long haul flight. And twenty hours is quite sufficient for me since I can go on a work week without having to charge the case. Though I must admit thirty hours seems to be the norm nowadays especially for those so called “no name” brands which still carry their own weight. The Marshall Mode II can be charged either by USB-C which is pretty much the standard nowadays. And the charging case can also be charged wirelessly though I prefer to use a cable. But then again it’s nice to have and it is also becoming the norm for most earbuds at this price range. As for audio, I would say that the default or signature of the Marshall Mode II packs a punch. For the average person, the highs and mids are crisp. And bass is very decent. There is a downloadable companion app for both iOS and Android wherein you can customize the earbuds including the audio output though I am already happy with the signature sound. The companion also has a transparency mode, but unfortunately there is no ANC in the mode II. Do note that there are branded earbuds at this price range have ANC. As for call quality, it is a hit or miss for me. While overall the call quality is acceptable and the calling party’s voice is fairly clear (not crystal sharp), the mics are a bit weak. Often the other party complains about my voice. This is definitely one area Marshall can improve on. So, overall the Marshall Mode II TWS earbuds is a solid performer but due to the lack of ANC and mores the mediocre call quality allows me to remove one star on my book. But nonetheless if you want rock solid audio (and knowing the earbuds’ limitation), I’d still recommend the Marshall Mode II.

The Marshall - Mode II are pretty much what I would expect from Marshall. Let's face it they are known for putting out quality speakers with a quality signature sound and retro look. Look – Sticking with the Marshall black, gold and leather look, they look pretty tough. You do have the big ‘M’ Emblem on Each earbud, so know that going in, I dig it. Case - The case looks much like the outside of their speakers and amps. It has a tough Rubberized leather finish. This case when fully charged will provide you another 20 hours of listening. You get about 5 hours Before having to put them in the case for a quick recharge. The case has little LED lights that change from red, yellow, green to indicate charge capacity. You can also see the charge of each bud through the app. This case charges with USB C cord or wireless charging. Comfort – I have had fit problems in the past with many earbuds but not with these, they are so light and small that they stay in nicely. Comfort all day. Sound- With the proper fit (Find the best fitting ear tip, comes with S, M, L and XL) you get a fantastic audio experience. There advertising says you get a “rich audio experience with growling bass, natural-sounding mids and crisp treble” I would tend to agree with that statement for the most part. I do have a set of ANC earbuds from a competitor that has slightly deeper bass, but they don’t fit as well. Noise isolation – These are not noise cancelling but the noise isolation works so well. You have to find the right tips that fit your ears. Correct Fit = Great Sound. I went with the XL and got great isolation. I can even hear music just fine when cutting grass. You also get a transparency mode through the app. This provides a little amplification to hear things around you. The app – Super Basic. Here are the setting: -EQ – 5 band equalizer -Touch controls - you can only turn them on and off -Noise control change the amount of transparency from zero to 100% -On / Off button for the transparency mode Quite honestly, I set the EQ up and now I never touch it. Touch controls are listed below and are NOT customizable like many of the competitors offer. You can choose to use 1 earbud at a time, so know which one you prefer the functions on. As soon as you pull them out of your ear, the music will stop. One touch of the [right] bud will start playback. So, if you remove the right one, you have to control you music on your device. Left Earbud- 1 touch activates transparency mode 2 touches activate your phones native Voice Assistant 1 touch to receive / end a call 2 touches to reject the call Right Earbud- 1 touch to play / pause 2 touches to skip forward 3 touches to skip backward 1 touch to receive / end a call 2 touches to reject the call Taps are responsive to touch Calls – Sound are very good on my side. The call receiver has stated it was very good as well, but if they have to critique them at all, they state that the mics are also enhancing a little of the background noise. The IPX5 water-resistant earbuds can withstand running water, while the IPX4 water-resistant charging case can withstand being splashed with water Pros: Sound Loudness Fit Style Con: No ANC at this price App is basic No ability to assign function to each earbud. BOTTOM LINE – If you are on the market for a new pair of earbuds and desire excellent sound quality and load music, These will not disappoint in my opinion.

PROS: - Classic Marshall sound - Most comfortable fit buds I’ve found so far - visually pleasing in all aspects and details in design - EQ available in app to fine tune your sound - phone assistant compatible - easy pairing - small carrying case - IPX5 waterproof rating CONS: - Price seems high for what you get - no ANC - app lacks a lot of common and useful settings (at least an update could help) - touch controls are a bit slow to respond I’m a bit torn on these earbuds, I’m not sure if they’re the best buds I have or still lacking too much to be my daily use buds. On the one hand, they have the sound I was hoping for, they fit well, and they have good battery and range. But then I remember the cost ($179.99) and I wonder why they’re not about 50 bucks cheaper. Unfortunately, I think the higher price is more due to the Marshall name and not because of features. That said, as a guy who has a Marshall guitar amp and always loved that unique sound, I wanted to know if the Marshall buds really did carry that same grungy growl that’s hard to explain other than just “Marshall Sound.” In that aspect, I think they nailed it, and if you’re in search of that sound in your headphones and ok paying a little more for it, then you won’t be disappointed. There’s nothing wrong with these headphones that make me think anyone would be disappointed, but as soon as you compare them to similarly priced buds, you start to see some loss in price value. The app doesn’t have a lot to it, (yet) and mostly just shows battery life, connection and equalizer settings. Other brands will have more settings like touch control customization or settings for paired devices etc. The simplicity isn’t necessarily a problem though, if you’re thinking about a pair of Marshall headphones then you’re probably looking for more than fancy bells and whistles. You’re looking for sound quality and design. I think these earbuds sound really good, as I mentioned already, and have that signature sound, but that’s not to say I haven’t heard equal or better quality earbuds from other brands too. I think the true uniqueness of these buds is in the visual design. That may be enough for some people to buy a pair and I don’t blame them. The case has that signature rough texture of a classic Marshall Amp and the buds each have a classic Marshall “M”. Even the included USB C cord has a texture and branding on it. These buds are a statement to others around you and there is definitely a market for that appeal. If you don’t care about the look though, there is probably another pair of headphones with similar sound and price but also active noise cancellation and other features. The real question is what features you want. If the Marshall Mode II’s check all those boxes, I would definitely recommend them.

The Marshall Mode II True Wireless Earbuds are comfortable, customizable, easy to setup and use with the Marshall App (via Bluetooth). Fit and Feel – The Marshall Mode II True Wireless Earbuds are comfortable for just about anyone. They come with 4 sets of rubberized cones: Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large. (Medium cones are the default) For my ears I prefer a little smaller size so I went with Small, and the change felt better in my ear. I was on the treadmill, did cardio work and even walked to see how well the wireless earbuds fit. No slipping or adjusting was needed while performing those exercises. The wireless earbuds conformed to my inner ear. The wireless earbuds go back into the case magnetically locking them in so they will stay put. The Charging case has a rating of IPX4 which is less resistant to water small water splash. The wireless earbuds are more water/sweat resistant with an IPX5 rating. The case and earbuds are not waterproof, which is worth mentioning. Charging and Battery Use – When the 5 hours on the wireless earbuds run out, you can place then in their case which will recharge them up to 4 times of 5 hour battery use (25 full hours total). A USB-C/USB Type A cable connects to the case and once plugged in begins charging. I didn’t have to do this much because the case holds 20 hours worth of battery power and can recharge taking only 2 hours. A blue light on the front of the case lets you know that your battery power is fully charged. And the App has the exact charge individually for each wireless earbud which is pretty cool. Marshall App Pairing – If you want to use and have real options with the Marshall wireless earbuds, you will want to download the App. Once you have the Marshall App and answer a few questions, the wireless earbuds will be ready to pair. Opening the case reveals two blue flashing lights will turn white once a connection has been made. I opened the case and used Bluetooth on my phone to pair with the wireless earbuds. The case connection remembers up to the last 4 pairings with Bluetooth 5.1 and a distance of 30 ft. This makes any Bluetooth device easy to pair up with! To reset the Bluetooth connections open the case with the earbuds in their slotted places. You will probably have two white lights on, next to the earbuds. Hold down the brass button next to the right earbud in the case. The white lights will change to blue pulsing lights. It only takes a few seconds and then you can pair with a new Bluetooth device. Marshall App Listening modes – The Marshall wireless earbuds are set with the “Marshall Signature Sound”. If that doesn’t appeal to you, there two customizable settings you can control on your own or use any of the other preset Listening Modes which are: Rock, Spoken, Pop, HipHop, Electronic and Jazz. As a guitarist I have played many Marshall Amps over the years, which are some of the best sounding amps that are made. Unfortunately the “Marshall Signature Sound” fell way short of the very distinct Marshall Amp Sound. The drivers are 6mm and fit nicely in the small wireless earbuds. Larger drivers would have helped the sound overall, but would make the wireless earbuds larger. I think Marshall chose size over sound on this particular issue. I did however use the custom option and found a sound that was more pleasing to my ears. Marshall Wireless Earbud Controls – First let me say that the controls are very touch sensitive on the wireless earbuds and easy to use. This I found out to be a big plus because I didn’t struggle or have to memorizing a ton of options. The Right wireless earbud controls the Transparency (outside noise) through the mics (same as for phone calls), EQ settings that you can go through and a native voice assistant. The Left wireless earbud controls the Playback settings while either earbud can receive or hang up on any phone call. I found that the controls on the wireless earbuds made all those options easier to access without a lot of pressing on the wireless earbud in my ears. Marshall Wireless Earbuds Phone calls – The Marshall wireless earbuds can take or hang up on phone calls. This is a nice option if you are working out and don’t want to stop to take a call. I tried several phone calls with the wireless earbuds and have to admit that they were not the clearest I have heard. In the gym, which is loud, I had a little trouble hearing and being heard while on phone calls. Now, I could still manage phone calls, just not as well as I had hoped. Overall, the Marshall Mode II True Wireless Earbuds have great options for fit, listening modes, pairing and simple controls. The Marshall App is something you will want to use and is very helpful. Unfortunately the “Marshall Signature Sound” fell a little flat to my ears. But the wireless earbuds did redeem themselves with custom EQs and preset EQs located in the Marshall App. I really liked the battery life, rechargeable case, the App and some easy to setup and use options.

Marshall's name has a reputation in music that is a notch above the rest. Everything I've seen or owned by them oozes of quality and sophistication. These do just that. Going along with their long time leathery exterior, the charging case is stamped with that leathery texture. Upon opening it up it has the est. 1962 stamped in in a gold or brass colored accent as well as the button inside. The buds themselves have the classic M stamped on the bud colored in white,in the classic Marshall font which to me .. ehh looked a lil gaudy. For this price I'd have liked it if they had it in their brass goldish color made of a polished metal insert. Going with their rich look and style of all their other lines. They come with 4 size tips, S, M, L, and XL. I typically go with what's on them from the factory but upon trying one of the other sizes out, I did find I got a better seal resulting in a better sound and deeper bass. It has a USB-C type charger for fast charging. The case itself can also be wirelessly charged which is awesome if you don't have a cord with you and need some quick juice! They're quoted as having 5 hours of play time and the charging case being able to charge them 4 more times giving you a full 25 hours. I myself have never played them for 5 hours straight without popping them back in their case which brings them right back to a full 100 percent. But they've never came close to dying in the time that I've played them which is a huge plus! They sound amazing, Alot of ear buds and pods seem to have a limit on the volume or a governor so to speak.. These let you put the proverbial petal to the metal!! Playing at a higher volume than any of my other buds. No distortion, just clarity rich bass notes all had my ears tingling! The Marshall app was easy to use and the touch features on the buds themself were too.. Very self explanatory. I'd definitely recommend these to others

So when it comes to unboxing the Marshall Mode II its pretty basic. You get 3 sizes of silicone tips, a short USB C cable, a couple of manuals and thats about it. Setting these up are a breeze especially with android as they have fast connect. As soon as you open the lid of the case you get a pop-up on your screen asking you to connect the buds, simple. It will then prompt you to download the app from Marshall. It makes everything so much easier. The case on these is by far the best case ive used. The tradmark Marshall design and leather look makes thus case very grippy. Not once ive i dropped this case. It also doesnt get full of fingerprints. It charges via USB C. The case is also very pocketable due ti the size. Its a pill shape but slim. I like the case a lot. The earbuds are well made and dont feel cheap. The outer part has the white Marshall Logo but sadly they didnt add the leather texture look. I think thats a missed opportunity to make them stand out in a crowd of plastic earbuds. They are low profile so they do not stick out if your ears by much, they are also extremely comfortable. I get zero ear fatigue with these. Sound quality is good, offering good highs, mids and lows. I did have to bring the highs down a little as they can be a little scratchy soinding but ones i had done that i liked the sound a lot. These also have ANC which works well. Its not the best but it does the job for the most part. The app is ok, its not fully featured, and thats the theme for these earbuds. The battery is decent and with the case i was getting around 21 hours. Overall i like these earbuds. I think they sound well, look good, very comfortable and ha e a great case. My main gripe about these is the cost. I feel you can spend less and get a similar feature set with good sound, sometimes better. And if you spend a little more you can get many many more features and better sound. While i do loke these i do feel they are around $50 more than they should be.

I traditionally use over the ear headphones, but wireless earbuds are light and nearly invisible. Charging is easy with the included AC cube and C-cable. Wireless charging works well for me with my wireless charging pad. This is my preferred charging mode. Once charged in its case, I found four additional charges are available from the earbud case. Pairing is accomplished quickly by pressing the pairing button in the charging case while the earbuds are still nestled in their magnetic carrying case. Marshall has downloadable app for its line of earphones. The equalizer comes with a standard flat mode and two additional user settble modes for quick setting. Single and double taps on the earpiece activates different functions via wireless Bluetooth. Answer a call, hang up, forward and reverse play. This allows me to carry on a call without grabbing for the phone to answer and carry on a call. All while still being able to hear the world around me. Probably the only concern I have is how the ear pieces will stay in my ears when I perspire. The units are water resistant so that's no concern, just will they stay snug. Stay tune for that . Sound quality is what one would expect from Marshall. The built in microphone works well and produces clear voice clarity. I can even use HEY GOOGLE and Alexa from my android phone.

Being a musician I’m certainly familiar with the Marshall name and its association with hard rockers that love the “tone” their amps create. So I was anxious to give their earbuds a try. I wasn’t disappointed! Zound Industries from Stockholm, Sweden makes the Marshall branded bluetooth earbuds and speakers. These earbuds do indeed, Zound pretty darn good! Read on for the details and comparisons to several other BT earbuds I have previously reviewed. The Mode II comes with 4 sizes of tips, a USB-A to USB-C cable, charging case and the earbuds. https://www.marshallheadphones.com/us/en/mode-ii.html One thing I want to point out is that these earbuds fit my ears very well. I had no problems keeping them in and getting a good seal into the ear canal which is what is needed to get good bass response as well as shutting out ambient sound. You can use the app to adjust how much outside / ambient sound you want to hear. The earbuds Do Not have active noise canceling but are IPX5 water-resistant. Pairing is super simple. Open the case and hold down the gold button until the blue LEDs pulse to put them into pairing mode. Follow directions. Once paired. Use the app to customize your sound. Sound quality for phone calls is good too. I talked to several people on the phone using the earbuds and no one had any problems hearing me and the calls were clear on my end as well. I paired them with my wife’s Note 9 and she tried them and called me. As before, everything was clear and easy to understand. Sound quality is very good. I’d give about 8 out of 10. A 10 would be the Master and Dynamic earbuds I reviewed a couple of years ago. They have deeper and more powerful bass and stronger highs. The Marshall Mode II specs on their site list the frequency response as 20hz to 20khz. However, it doesn’t say how flat the response across the frequency spectrum is or show a graph of it. The Marshall “signature sound” is a factory EQ tweak that gives it a bit of a warm sound I like. It sounds like they have boosted the upper mids a bit without making them sound harsh or tinny. The lows are nice and smooth and not boomy or muddy. The app has a 5 band EQ that lets you boost or cut lows, mids and highs. The EQ is set to a flat response for the “original” Marshall Sound You can select other EQ presets or make your own. DO keep in mind that some music apps on phones also have EQ settings that can also color the sound along with the Marshall app. This is the case when using Samsung Music Amazon Music. If you have custom EQ settings in those apps it will affect how the earbuds sound before you change anything with the Marshall app. Think of what I’m saying as running 2 EQs at once. It can make a mess of the sound and make a good product sound bad. This doesn’t apply to all apps, such as SiriusXM. That app has no EQ settings that I can find. Another thing that can make a difference is the type of music files you play and how much data compression they are using. Some types of audio files have lossless options and that will provide the best audio quality. You can Google the subject for more info. Steaming services usually have options for audio quality too. I tested using FLAC, WMA, WAV, MP4 and MP3 files. Most at low compression - high bit rate. FLAC and WAV are lossless. Music I listened to was Steely Dan, Alan Parsons, Pink Floyd, Beatles, ABBA to Zeppelin. AC/DC to ZZ Top. Music that was recorded to high technical standards. Comparing them to the following wireless earbuds I have reviewed for TIN in the past couple of years: The Master & Dynamic MW07 PLUS are still the best sound wise. The two way dual driver Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro are a close 2nd to the M&Ds. Marshall Mode II is a solid 3rd. Sony WF-SP800N 4th. The Sonys and Marshalls are the best fitting and most comfortable with the least amount of ear canal fatigue if worn for several hours. Run time: I never ran the case completely down and the buds only once and that took a little over 5 hours. Build quality feels and looks good and is on par with other earbuds I have tested in this price range. I like the shape of the case and the Tolex looking covering used on it. Gives it the look of a Marshall Amp and, of course, carries the Marshall name plate in the same manner as a Marshall Amp. Cool! Conclusion: I give them 5 stars for price, performance, build and fit. 4.5 stars for sound quality. Yes, you can buy better, but you will pay more. The Mode II hits a sweet spot. ANC would be nice, but if you get a good ear canal seal, you should be fine unless you’re in a really noisy environment.

The Marshall Mode II True Wireless earbuds are really comfortable to wear for longer periods of time. I've been using them frequently, connected to my MacBook Pro for calls and meetings, and then listening to music in-between. With 25 hours of wireless playtime, they last all day without a problem. The design of the Mode II packaging is what not only sets these speakers apart, but lets you know right away that this is a Marshall product. From the stylized 'M' on the ear buds, to the 'elephant print' texture on the charging case, they scream Marshall. The edge of the case looks like a volume knob, flip open the case and you see the gold bluetooth pairing button and the engraved 'EST. 1962, all signature of Marshall. Once the earbuds are paired (press and hold the gold button, lights pulse blue, search for the earbuds on your device - in my case, a MacBook Pro) you are up and running. I chose to download the companion Marshall App (iPhone) which gives you control over the equalizer and the amount of ambient sound you can hear as you wear the bud. Talking of wearing the bud, these are really comfortable. I switched out the ear buds to the large size to make them fill my ear and keep a nice tight fit. They fit really well, and don't keep slipping out of my ears. The sound is 'signature Marshall' as they call it. Out of the box, the sound was 'ok' but after changing the sound settings using the equalizer in the Marshall App, I really dialed in the sound to my liking. I was able to get a nice, warm sounds with some really good, deep bass, which Marshall have a knack of being able to execute well. Transitioning from music to audio (calls, meetings etc) that is where I saved a star. I found that sometimes there was some clipping in the call, or meeting, causing a little crackle at times. It wasn't a deal breaker, and wasn't super loud, but it was there. Another feature of the earbuds is their touch control. You can turn on and off transparency mode (the amount of ambient sounds you hear along with the sounds playing through the earbuds), call up your voice assistant, receive and reject calls, and skip and replay tracks. I wish you could customize the settings, and have the option to be able to adjust the volume by touching them. That may be a personal preference, but I tend to use volume controls way more than I use skip functionality, so customization would be useful. The cool looking changing case, as mentioned earlier, charges the earbuds when you aren't using them, but you can also place the charger on your wireless charging pad, and recharge the case. That's a handy feature to have for sure. Overall, I really like these earbuds and I'll continue to use them connected to my computer for both Music and Calls/Meetings. INCLUDED IN THE BOX: Mode II True Wireless Headphones Charging Case Ear Tips (S, M, L, XL) USB-C Charging Cable User Manual and Safety Info TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Transducer: 6.0mm, Dynamic Frequency Response: 20 Hz - 20 kHz Sensitivity: 100.5 dB SPL (179mV @ 1 kHz) Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.1 Weight: Earbud 4.75g, Charging Case 35g Overall, these are a great sounding set of earbuds, they look fantastic, small form, really comfortable and last a great amount of time. I only wish I could have volume controls with the touch functionality. I'd happily recommend these! Go get a set!

I was looking for easy to carry around earbuds for exercising and/or commuting. The case for these is very compact and easy to pack around - check. The sound is good and the app has three options for equalizer settings - handy. What’s not handy: if you like to go back and forth between the devices you’ve connected them to, you can’t just close one device and open the other device and have these earbuds auto-connected. You have to take them out of your ear, place the buds back in the case, press the little button and then reconnect. Frustrating when I just want to listen to my phone on the walk back home from the gym after watching my show on my iPad while I exercise. Adding to the frustration is that although this is a tiny package, they don’t feel secure in my petite ears, even with the smallest plug covers. When I was on a walk, one popped out of my ear - luckily it didn’t bounce around and fall to the road beneath the overpass I was on. When I’m on the elliptical, they pretty much stay in place ok, so I’ll limit these to my gym bag. On a couple of occasions the bluetooth connection has cut in and out. Once on the above walk. If I put my phone in my left coat pocket the connection kept cutting in and out. If I put my phone in my right pocket it mostly did ok. When I commuted on the metro train the connection cut in and out a few times as well. The connection has not cut in and out around the inside of my house or at the gym. You cannot adjust the volume using the earbuds, or at least I didn’t see any instructions that you can. Volume was adjustable from the device and from my iWatch. This model does not have the noise cancelling. The hear-through option doesn’t do much except add a wind tunnel noise, so I always have that off. I do like the equalizer option to get the sound that I prefer. If that’s your top priority, you may want to give these a try. I’ll continue to use them for the gym as the sound is good and the volume can go high enough to drown out the treadmills, but they aren’t my pick for commuting or walking around outside.

These earbuds have a very unique soundstage; in a very good way. To my ears, the stock soundstage seems to be tailored more for the rock, metal, and acoustic genres. As a metalhead myself, this is right up my alley. Very crisp and high treble with some crystal clear vocals. Drum snares and cymbals sound incredible. Vocals sound very rich with depth. I was much more easily able to pick out different instruments when switching from some generic bluetooth buds I had laying around to these Marshall wireless buds. This is my new favorite headset to listen to my favorite genres. The part that I feel some users will have some contention with will be the bass. While the bass is tight and crisp, it does lack that long sustained low frequency goodness that some people love; especially for those hip hop or EDM aficionados. I prefer my bass tight and punchy, so for me, electronic, hip-hop, jazz, and classical still sounded great. You do also have options to adjust the sound via the equaliser on the Marshall app. I did find though, that even when choosing the "pop", "hip-hop", or "electronic" eq presets, the bass did get slightly deeper (but not enough to make a significat difference). One of my favorite things about these wireless headphones is the fit. They're probably the most comfortable wireless buds I've ever used. Since they're very light, they seem to disappear in your ears and you forget you're wearing them. I've used these at the gym everyday for the past week running 2 to 3 miles a day and they have performed flawlessly! I have been dripping in sweat sometimes doing high intensity interval training and not once did they ever fall off, come loose, or ever cut out. I'm also a huge fan of the case they come in. Love the textured alligator finish and how compact it is. This will easily fit in your front jeans pocket without feeling bulky. While you can charge the case via USB-C, you can also just place it on a wireless charging stand. And of course, the case charges your buds on the go! The ease of paring and using these headphones has been the most convenient experience by far. From the moment I took them out of the case the first time, my Android device automatically detected them. I simply hit "accept" on my phone to pair them and it was done. There is a brass button on the case though in case you ever want to pair them manually. When using the downloadble Marshall Bluetooth app, they were also instantly picked up. While I usually don't bother with wireless headphone apps, I think it's worth downloading as it'll help keep your buds up-to-date with any improvements via new firmware releases. Also, the equaliser was actually quite good for fine tuning the soundstage to my liking. A couple features that I found really handy about these headphones, is the touch controls and the "transparency" feature. If you want to pause a track, simply tap the right earbud once. Tap twice to skip a song and tap thrice to go backwards. The only thing that some might find to be a con is that there's no touch controls for voulme control (at least as far as I could find in the manual or try for myself). As a result, you will have to use your mobile device to adjust the volume. While these are not active noise cancelling headphones, these headphones come with a "transparency" feature which somewhat emulates a noice cancelling experience. It works as some type of noisegate to filter out background noise. And it actually does a decent job! You can adjust this on the Marshall app or disable it altogether but ill definitely be leaving mine on at 100%! Overall, I really enjoy these headphones. While I really liked listening to my electronic and jazz tracks on these Marshall headphones, I absolutely LOVED listening to metal, rock, alternative, acoustic, and any tracks rich with vocals. If you're a big fan of these genres, you're in for a treat!

Rock Out With Marshall Mode II!

When you hear the name "Marshall" you automatically think of stacks of speakers and amps at rock concerts. With this in mind, I wanted to try the Marshall Mode IIs for it's ability to rock out! Upon opening the box, I was presented with a TINY case. It is styled out of the same covering on their famous amps. The Marshall name graces the top. It comes with charging cable and the case has a USB Type C on the side. Upon opening the case, you see a brass colored button is inside to pair and the wording "Est. 1962", the founding year of Marshall as a brand. The wireless buds are also on the small side. I settled on the large type of ear tips. They buds were easily paired with or without the Marshall app. The app gives you the ability to tailor sound via equalizer, touch controls, noise control (to include transparency level) and updates and status. I decided that to try Marshall headphones, I had to stay true to the venue, rock music. The sound was clear and thunderous! The music in this genre is well represented. Other genres of music have good representation, but any rock songs bring out the best these have to offer. The only (and biggest) shortfall to me is the starting price. Too many other headphones occupy this price range, some with much more to offer and better sound. If rock is your go-to music choice, the Mode IIs will fill the bill nicely. Other music types will fair well, but other buds just do more justice for the price. Recommended for the rockers out there! Others, test before you buy if possible, or at least be capable of returns if not your cup of tea. Good Shopping!

Marshall has always been a top name in audio and these earbuds do not disappoint. These come with a nice, very compact charging case with the Marshall logo on the front, a USB-C to USB-A charging cable, and different sized comfortable ear gels. The charging case is well made and can be plugged in using the charging cable that comes with this or by using a wireless charging pad which I find is a real convenience. Once the light on the front of the case is green, the earbuds are fully charged and ready for use. The earbuds are comfortable and easy to use. They stay in place with any type of activity. The earbuds are water resistant, so you can’t wear them out in the rain but if get caught in a light sprinkle, you should be okay. You use these as you would any earbud, tapping on the right or left to turn the volume up or down, etc. Pairing these to my phone was easy, but if you have a problem pairing them, you simply install the Marshall Bluetooth app. This app also gives you an array of features, such as, EQ presets and saving your own EQ setting. You can even turn off or on certain touch controls. Marshal claims that you can get 25 hours of play time with these earbuds. In actuality, you get about 4 to 5 hours of play time and they need to be put back into the case to charge. So with the actual case charging them, they are saying you can get about 4 charges out of the case for the earbuds which should get you through the day. The great sound is typical for any Marshall product. You can hear all the high, low and mid ranges in music that you play. The bass is just perfect for me and the sound is not tinny at all, like with some ear buds I have used. I would definitely recommend these to anyone and the price is not bad for what you are getting in sound.

I love these headphones. I like the Marshall brand and was looking forward to getting these headphones made by them. All their other products are of high quality and these don't miss there either. The sound is fantastic. Right out of the box they are very crisp with good bass. I'm impressed with how they've gotten such a big sound in a small package. They have an app if you'd like to tweak the various levels. They fit tight in my ear and I haven't had them fall out working out and sweating. With this a lot of background noise is cut out too. They also don't cause me any ear fatigue. I've used them for hands free phone calls and the person on the other end couldn't tell the difference. The charging case is very small and compact which I really like compared to other manufacturers. It's also convenient that it wireless charger compatible. It's light but durable. The faux leather design ala their amplifiers feels and looks nice. The battery life works for me. I've used them a good chunk of the day and left them on in my pocket and they haven't ran dead. I also haven't had to charge the case yet either. My only annoyance is that I haven't found any good documentation on what functions are provided for when you touch either one. Like I'm able to skip or pause a song but haven't figure out how to restart a song.

    Great Wireless Ear Buds

The Marshall Mode II True Wireless headphones are a great pair of ear buds. These are right up their with my favorite pairs of wireless ear buds, and may become my daily pair. The Mode IIs come with a charging case, usb-c cable, 4 total pairs of ear tips, and of course, the ear buds. Everything is packed nicely and feels like a nice product when opening the package. The first thing you'll notice is the charging case, which has a nice texture to it, almost like leather. It's a nice change from other cases which are usually just plastic. Although, since it is a little rubbery, I am a little concerned with how they will hold up over time. The actual earbuds also feel very nice. They are small, but not so small that you can't easily put them in and out of your ear. I really like the inclusion of 4 sizes of ear tips. Usually you just get 3, but with 4 sizes I'm sure you'll have no problem finding a pair to fit just right. Using the ear buds is a nice experience. Setup is fairly straightforward if you've set up any kind of bluetooth device recently. I would prefer if they included some of the tap to pair features that some other brands include, but it's understandable that they dont. There is also an app that you can download once you have your ear buds paired. The app's main use is the equalizer, which is a nice addition. It allows you to really tune in the sound to your liking. Outside of this, you can access your ear buds' manual so you don't need to keep a paper one around to remind yourself of things like how many taps to do certain actions. Lastly, you can see exactly the batter percentage of each ear bud, which is a nice little feature. You can totally get by without downloading the app, however, I think the equalizer is worth it alone. The earbuds themselves sound great. They are as good as any pair I have used before, and better than many. The sound is crisp and clear, and the bass is nice without being overpowering. As stated, you can even tweak the equalizer settings if you really want. Battery life is really good as well. Marshall reports up to 5 hours of life in the buds alone, and an additional 4 charges out of the case, for a total of 25 hours before you have to recharge the case. I haven't used them for more than an hour or two at a time, but they last the entire time with no problems. And I used them for a week straight, and I didn't have to recharge them once. So I'd say that their estimates are probably not far off. Also, I forgot to mention so far, but they also feature wireless charging, which I find really useful since I already have a wireless charging pad on my desk, so just one less wire I have to keep handy. But if not, it just takes USB-C, which is a pretty standard charger at this point. The one complaint I have, which I am finding to be more and more common among wireless ear buds, is that there is no way to control the volume on the buds themselves. You either have to use your phone, or activate your voice assistant and tell it to raise the volume. I really don't understand why they have stopped including volume controls on the buds themselves. I would really just prefer to tap two or three times to raise/lower volume. But, it's not enough to bring down the rating or anything, just thought I'd mention it. Overall, this is a really great pair of headphones. They feel very well-made, they sound great, and have great battery life. I will be using these as my daily pair of headphone, and recommend them to anyone looking for a nice pair of wireless ear buds.

I almost couldn’t believe Marshall made wireless earbuds. Don’t get me wrong; it wasn’t because I felt they were incapable of doing so. It was just something I felt may not be on their radar. The Mode II – True Wireless have become a big blip on that radar. Packaged in the typical high-quality box, comes a very attractive case worthy of the Marshall brand. The typical leather-like skin coats nearly the entire case. A spring-loaded door reveals a nice-looking set of earbud chamber with an attractive gold sync button. The earbuds look the part as well, with the trademark Marshall “M” stamped on them. No doubt it is a well-made product. Inside you will also find a charging cable along with a quick start guide. The quick start guide gives you a simple instruction set for getting started – 3 steps, and you’re up and running… or not. I had trouble here, and I’m not sure if it was my phone or the order of the steps. The guide instructs you to place the earbuds in your ear and pair them to your device by selecting them in the Bluetooth add device list. Well, it never appeared in my list. I finally just downloaded the Marshall Bluetooth app to assist – it is listed as the last step. After some playing around, I finally got the buds paired and the device added to the Marshall app. I have an Android device, and maybe it is a smoother process on iPhone. Once paired, the fun begins. My initial impression after firing up a song for my listening pleasure… loud, plenty loud. One thing you will not have to worry about with these buds is whether you will get sufficient volume. You don’t listen to these with max volume. I actually like that about them – the punch they deliver. The app offers a decent EQ, control settings for functionality assignments. As for those assignments and the controls, I give Marshall a pat on the back for flexibility and innovation. They have separated the left and right earbud buttons/surfaces and also allowed assignment of multi-tap input. Well done. The EQ has some preconfigured sounds relative to music genres as well as the ability to set a custom EQ. The EQ does it’s job for the most part, but it left me wanting at least 2 more frequencies to better hone in the perfect sound. Listening to the Mode IIs, I felt as if I was on the cusp of the best sound, but didn’t have the tools to get there. It was as if the equipment felt capable, but I was missing the element that would give me the adjustment I was looking for. Don’t get me wrong, they sound great. The problem for me was they sounded well enough to sound more precise. As for the sound related features, transparency mode and noise cancellation, transparency mode works about as expected. I think the Mode IIs have quite a punch, so you have to adjust the volume to hear voices and sounds as expected. Noise cancellation does not exist here – would have been a nice to have. While important, these features are not the end all, be all for me. I don’t walk around with buds in my ear, and my focus when wearing them or cups is to listen to music or watch videos, period. Marshall makes quality audio products, and this set of earbuds is no different. They are very comfortable, last for over 4 hours (in my testing), have terrific sound output from both a volume and quality perspective, and have some of the best build quality in their class. Could they be better? Sure, but they are a good product as is. They don’t have active noise cancellation, they have a very average microphone, and there are issues with connectivity (initially). They sound great though and are on the doorstep of sounding very special. A firmware and app tweak could do the trick, but a good buy nevertheless.

I will start by saying that the quality of this product is outstanding, it comes with a case which by the way is compact in size which makes it easy to carry, and with a design that makes it look like it is made of leather, it comes in matte black with the Marshall brand name in white, great combination looks nice. The unboxing is very easy and simple everything is in sight ready to open and start using, it is advisable to load the case to 100% in the first instance. Pairing is very easy in fact there is a button inside the charging case that allows you to pair the headphones with other devices without the app just using bluetooth settings. As I mentioned earlier, the quality and construction is very good and the headphones are matte black in color, the headphones only have the letter M in white which I personally like, a mark on the bottom of the headphones that is not very visible with the name of the company, the connectors for charging and that's all, simple. In the box include different sizes of eartips that allows you to choose how tight we want the headphones inside the ear, they are comfortable but after a while you can feel a little discomfort I think it's a matter of time to get used to, I used the two headphones at the same time and separately for several hours, the battery has an autonomy of 5 hours but depending on the use can be even a little more. I have no complaints about the performance except for the bass, the highs and mids sound great it is a very good sound quality, it really sounds very clear from music, podcasts, movies etc, it is a very pleasant experience however, even though the app has an eq it does not improve the power of the bass, I repeat that the audio quality is great but perhaps for the price is expected a little more and speaking of the price it seems to me that being a true wireless headphones that do not have active noise cancellation and lack a little bass, I could not say that the price is justified, maybe with a discount could be a good alternative because for the same price there are other options that offer mainly active noise cancellation and an even more practical use. The app, in my opinion, could be improved as the options presented are very basic and personally what I use the most is the eq but from there on out there aren't other options that improve the experience. Although the sound quality feels present at all times of use and does not disappoint, what leaves much to be desired is the transparency mode that does not differ much from the noise isolation mode, so communicating with people around can be a little difficult. In conclusion, if these headphones are acquired with a discount or on sale, they can be a good option, they are very well designed headphones and with an almost perfect sound quality but the details that I mentioned before make me not be able to recommend these headphones to everyone.

These headphones have a little bit of everything. For starters, the sound is adequate, even good, but not great - about what I expected in headphones at this price and that have a 25 hour playback time. The other attributes that make these really nice is the wireless charging, the USB-C connection, and the overall size of the case. The case is very small and can quite easily fit in your pocket. Also, the setup was very easy. They were simple to pair and paired quickly. And the Marshall app found them immediately and setup there was also straightforward and error free, which is saying a lot because most headphone apps have trouble connecting (at least for me). I was using iOS. Back to the sound. While pretty good sound the max volume was slightly lower than other headphones in the same price range. This matters to me because I like loud music and use them mainly outdoor when running, which means I always have them on max volume. While the volume isn't loud, I'm guessing it is more than enough for 95% of regular consumers. Overall, I was pleased with the functionality and quality of these headphones and would recommend them.

These Marshall true wireless headphones are good but they’re not great. I felt like every test of quality held up but it didn’t blow me away. Aesthetically these look good. They have a sleek design and quality case, so that’s always a good start. Sound quality was also there, but again, it didn’t wow me or stand out more than other headphones I have used from other well-known brands. It was also weird because call quality as far as sound didn’t seem as good as music quality. Maybe that’s Marshall’s guitar amp background coming through? I also found the app simple to use, and it made set up and connection a straightforward process. However, I would say that’s pretty typical these days unless there are some super new features to make it stand out comparing headphones/Bluetooth apps is pretty much the same across the board these days in my opinion. I think the bottom line is that these are good headphones but the price makes them only average. I think there are better headphones at this particular price point and Marshall’s might be reaching a bit here.
