Customers regard the 5.2 Cu. Ft. 11-Cycle Top-Loading Washer favorably due to its large capacity, effective cleaning performance, and ease of use, with many appreciating the return of the agitator. However, some users have expressed concerns about inconsistent water levels and occasional reliability issues. A longer spin cycle and potential for odor are additional points noted by some customers.

Easy to use. Quick install. Large capacity...able to wash 2 to 2.5 loads in one. Multiple cycles and temp options. Powerwash works best for highly solied loads. Need to buy affresh tablets to clean the washer.

The previous Maytag gen HE washer would lock the lid and not permit you to easily add water. This model can pause the cycle, unlock the lid or allow you to demand extra water level, This improved model has better sensors and sets a higher level of water than the first gen, which caused poor circulation of the wash load and lots of detergent residue. With the glass lid, you can see the agitator moving the water through the wash load, not shredding the damp fabric apart, vainly attempting to sponge bath the garments. The main objective of a washer is to prolong the life of clothing, not to save water at the expense of fabric damage, detergent residue and poor cleaning. This model will brighten wash loads with greater agitation and look like bleach or other additions boosted the detergent. The whites come out brilliant, not dingy like in previous Maytag HE washer models. The water level must be high enough to cover the load and permit agitation of the water column through the load. Previous HE washers would need to be paused and filled higher with a water hose or bucket just to raise the water level a couple of inches! Barbaric newbie designers. My three sister-in laws love this model.

was a little skeptical to buy a washer with an actual agitator but so glad I did. Had a front load washer and hated it. Smelled and had mold constantly in the rubber part. The top load washers without agitators are just like the front load so I decided to go with this maytag. It is BIG inside and holds so much more than the front load. I can fit a king comforter with no problem. It is also very quiet. Clothes come out clean. It has a lot of options for washing your clothes. Would highly recommend.

This washer replaced an older, very heavily used Maytag washer, which died. As this is a top-rated top-load HE agitator washer, I did not have to think long about selecting it - plus my positive experience with Maytag in the past.
So far, it has exceeded expectations. Loving the automatic water level capability - this will save a TON of water over the years. It's extremely quiet - so much quieter than the one it replaced. And the capacity is simply massive - no doubt we'll be able to wash our king size comforters at home instead of going out!
Definitely worth considering - and Best Buys ordering, delivery and installation were superb.

We puchased the washer as an open-box item. A couple of weeks after hooking it up, we found out it was leaking from the bottom. Best Buy only offers returns up to 15 days.
It is a nice washer, but don't buy open-box.

While highly rated, I'm not sure I'm in love with this washer. It has the center agitator which has been removed in many new models - have they decided the old way is best? If I use the max spin option I feel like it is beating up my clothes. Still liked my front-loader, but Hubby doesn't feel they clean as well. Withholding judgement as to whether it was a wise purchase or not.

I bought this washer a few weeks ago and it works great so far! I love that it fits about 3 loads of laundry in 1 load! It has made my life so much easier and freed up so much of my time that would have been spent doing laundry, so that I can do other things now instead. It gets the clothes nice and clean. I'm very happy with this purchase.

We bought this washer after enduring years of frustration with an HE non-agitator washer. I was hesitant to purchase another washer (of any kind) but am SO glad we did! We are a family of 7, and for the first time in YEARS (literally) I got caught up with all of my laundry in the first two days after installation. I use the Deep Fill option on most loads (simply makes me feel better,) but all of the clothes have come out clean and smelling fresh, no matter the setting. I wish it had a "towels" option, but I wash those on Power Wash or normal and adjust the water temperature. There's nothing I would change. Installation was quick and very professional - happy I opted for that as well!

Recently needed a new washer and purchased this Maytag washer. Great for large loads like comforters and sleeping bags yet awesome for small loads of delicates. Would have given a 5 star rating but the first one delivered leaked warm water from the oxy tray and we needed to have another one delivered a week later. No problems with the second one!

We had a horrible experience with our front loader getting our clothes clean so were very picky with this purchase. We got this one with the agitator and really like it. Wish it would use a little more water when using the deep fill.

I have had this washer for less than a month and am still experimenting with various functionalities that the washer offers. My overall concern is that its sensing mode does not allow enough water for large loads such as bedding, and I purchased it especially for the ability to wash a large load of sheets, a blanket, or a coverlet. Otherwise, it’s okay for a typical normal wash.

I'm used to old school washers, where it fills up with water, you throw in some detergent and clothes while it's filling, and it swishes it all around. This is not that.
Differences in how it works -
Detergent has to go in one of the receptacles at top. You have to put the clothes in before starting, it will not start or continue to fill if the lid is open. The lid actually locks while it's running, you have to pause the cycle to even open the lid. Even when using the "deep fill" setting, it does not fill all the way up with water. From what I can tell, it works by slowly drizzling a water/detergent mix over the clothes, using enough water to get everything good and wet, but not swimming in a pool. It's then wrapping them around the agitator, getting them clean. It seems to work pretty well, and I've got no complaints about the cleanliness of my clothes. There are lots of different cycle choices too, complete with an electronic countdown timer, which is handy.
I thought I would like the glass lid more than I do. Yes, it's glass. But it has a black tint to it, there's a pattern of small circles too, it's difficult to see what's going on. Not quite as difficult as trying to look through frosted glass, but close.
I've also been surprised by it's size. 5.2 cu ft is really, really big. What was two loads before is one in this thing. For example, it'll take a comforter, top and bottom sheet, blanket, and pillowcases - all in the same load. All my linens on one. That was two before. I keep putting more and more in it, trying to find the point where it's not cleaning everything well anymore, and I haven't found it yet. It's really big, and can actually clean a lot of things at once.
So, not quite what I expected, which was an old school, open up the lid, start it up, throw in some detergent and clothes while filling up with water. Not the way this works at all. But that said, it works well, and I suspect it's better for my water and power bill too.

I originally had a washer without an agitator. I noticed that my clothes were not getting clean at all with the old washer. I did my research on this washer and if I could give it 10 stars I would. The clothes are CLEAN and I love that it is a large capacity.
The only drawback (which is not Maytag's fault) is that the drum is so deep and I am so short (5') that I have a hard time reaching the bottom of the drum. That problem was easily solved with a step stool.

Love the high capacity “top loading” washer. Had a front loading washer. Had lots of issues with leaking water and smell from residual water. This new Maytag is high capacity and washes massive loads of laundry. Great if you don’t want to spend forever washing kids clothes.

I have purchased several other washers manufactured by other brands, LG, Bosch and were not satisfied. Between the lack of water used, the smell and the never ending cycles, doing laundry was such a pain! So far I find this Maytag top loader with agitator to be easy to use, efficient and hard working. I truly feel and see the difference in the cleanliness of my clothes! Bravo Maytag for going back to an old fashion agitator and offering a deep fill option.

We had a front loader and was tired of the smell --- yes, we cleaned it routinely. So, I began researching the top loading washings machines....going back to "old school". I knew that I wanted an agitator and many of the larger washing machines do not have them.
My Mom purchased the 5.3 Cu.Ft. Maytag without the agitator and loves it. As I was looking into purchasing the same washing machine, I discovered that Maytag had recently released the same washing machine in a 5.2 Cu. Ft machine that had an agitator.
I have no complaints with this machine and love having the agitator again!!
