A few quirks, but by far the best thing out there if you use Windows software. Much prefer it over my MacBook.

As a Surface Pro 3 user for the last year, I'm going to compare several features of the new SurfaceBook to the Surface Pro lineup.
1st, this is a laptop first, tablet second. By that, I mean everything about this machine was designed to be used as a laptop, but also has the added functionality to use as a tablet. If you are going to use it as a tablet more, or even as much as the laptop mode, I would strongly recommend the Surface Pro, which I also love.
Why?
The battery life is around 12 hours when in laptop mode, around 3 hours when disconnected and used as a tablet, since the larger of two batteries is in the keyboard base.
The dedicated graphics chip is also in the base, so you lose that functionality when using as a tablet.
The keyboard and touchpad are excellent, making this much nicer to use as a laptop compared to the Surface Pro.
-From a performance point of view, you aren't going to get this level of performance in any other machine designed to be this light and flexible. Some are lighter with a an I7, but not 16GB RAM or dedicated graphics. -Data transfers are twice as fast as they were on my Pro 3, the screen is outstanding, and I ran several virtual desktops with multiple applications running with no problem at all.
-From a design point of view, I love that to disconnect the screen to use as a tablet, you either have to press a dedicated keyboard button for a second (to prevent accidental disconnects), or click a system tray icon. -As I mentioned, the keyboard is great, solidly built. While I loved the Pro 3, typing school papers on that keyboard was not a great experience. I have heard the new SP4 keyboard is better, but I have not tried it yet.
-Touch screen and pen are both great. I am not artist.....at all, but going back even to my SP3, I used the pen a lot for note taking in OneNote. It's also great for Photoshop.
What could have been better?
-I think a PC this expensive and cutting edge should have had at least one USB-C port.
-I would have preferred a 6x9 aspect ratio (wide screen) over the Surface Pro 3x2 aspect ratio.
-Still not sure how I feel about the gap at the base when this is closed. I read an article in which Microsoft said that design is what allows it to stay upright with all the components in the display, so it's a trade off.
-I wish the SD card slot let the card go in further, so I could just leave an SD card plugged in all the time. I loved that with the Pro 3.
In summary, this is a powerful machine that looks fantastic, excellent build quality, and has excellent battery life. There a few things I would have liked to see a little different, but this is still the best machine in this class you can buy.
That said, if you don't need an I7, 16G of RAM, or dedicated graphics, buy an I5 and save some money. This is an expensive machine at the fully decked out specs.

The surface is ready to go right out of the box. Very lightweight, easily portable; been lugging around a full sized laptop for wayyyy too long. This has all the security and capability for my accounting work.

I have had this product for about a month and it has never worked correctly. When I first purchased, it cycled through about 20 blue screens of death before it would finally start up. It then had horrible problems with the screen disconnect feature. The track pad will not scroll smoothly (I was so hoping it would be like my mac) and while the keyboard seemed to be a good design, it makes so much noise when you type that it will bother anyone sitting near you. I tried loading all updates and I've tried resetting. When I reset, the screen would not turn on. No matter how long I waited and everything I tried, it would not turn on. They keyboard would light up each time I powered on, but the screen refused. I am an elite Best Buy member so I've kept this as long as possible and given it as many chances as possible. I really wanted to like it! But it is with regret that it is going back. Microsoft really should have put a little more time into releasing such an important products. I believe they have lost so much business from people that were willing to try (especially Apple people) and will not be trying again for a long time.
I have read a lot of reviews of people that love this product. So I'm wondering if they just had a high percentage of failed products. I am not willing to try again for now. Maybe when the next version comes out they will have all these bugs fixed.

I wasn't sure if I was going to get this or the Mac. I am so glad I got this Laptop/Tablet. It is awesome. Speed is great. With so many ways to do things (keyboard, touchscreen, touch pad, add-on mouse, etc.) it has to be easy for every style.

This is the best convertible laptop you can buy right now. Everything on it is super fast. I got the 16GB/512GB model. It has handled everything I threw at it. Windows 10 is awesome for it. I can play Diablo/WoW on it, with no problem. Thanks!!

The surface is very fictional and good for travel. The automatic windows 10 updates sometimes mess up the system. I needed to have the Geek Squad fix the system once because of this.

I travel frequently for my job and this laptop is better than our company issued laptops. I prefer to use this laptop and remote in! It fits perfectly into my BlueSmart luggage laptop sleeve making it easy to go through airport security.

I changed from Mac to PC, which I thought I'd never do. I was a huge mac enthusiast because their professional computers are fantastic machines for graphic design, video editing, and other creative digital media, but when I got my hands on this Surface Book at a Microsoft store, I fell in love. I played with it for probably 45 minutes in store. It was nice because they had all adobes big software on it. I loved the touchscreen way of editing, the versatility, everything. So I got my monies together went to Best Buy and bought one. If you are someone who creates art using a computer, this is the best in the business.
