    Versatile and Powerful Notebook

Although pricey, the Surface Book delivers extraordinary value because of its power and versatility. The 3000 x 2000 pixel display is crisp and the perfect aspect ratio for a machine that doubles as a clipboard sized tablet. My Core I7, 16GB of RAM, 500Gb of storage configuration allows me to run multiple virtual machines or edit video without compromising performance despite the machine's thin profile and light weight. The pen is precise, smooth, and a pleasure to use. The surface book is simply one of the best notebooks on the market today.

Surface Book is a Great MS Addition

Owned Surface Pro 2 and, except for intermittently-NON-conducting hinge, love it. Surface Book solves the hinge issue, and the display (resolution) is superb. One issue is that some older graphics programs (e.g., Adobe CS6) do not adjust menu text to the super resolution, resulting in minuscule lettering. Found a "manifest" file on line that, if copied, and renamed to conform with the .exe file, corrects the problem.

I researched different laptop models that had enough memory built in to handle photos as well as be an all around office computer and the Surface Book had the best reviews. With the 512 choice I don't have to worry about remembering which external drive files are saved to as I can work on the files that are right on the laptop itself. Compared to other laptops, it won on being cool to hold on a lap so I can use it in bed or on a couch and the hinge reviews / construction were positive for long durability. I've had it just two months so that remains to be seen but it does feel very solidly built. Screen resolution is amazing and the advertised features work as expected. My only drawbacks would be that there are few accessories for this laptop- bags are available but dedicated cases are not available because of the way the screen detaches (some are advertised but do not fit or work) and the laptop can be slippery on a desktop when ejecting from the USB ports. I love the versatility of using touchscreen or the mousepad and having it as a laptop setup or being able to quickly detach the screen to go show something to somebody else in another room. Its a featherweight too!

My function keys are not working on the keyboard and I cannot locate a way to get them working. I received 2 display errors last night while on the internet that fixed themselves but for $3000 plus invested this should have been thoroughly tested first. Battery life was terrible...3 hours while connected to the keyboard so that needs to improve ALOT and I will be watching that closely. As for the way the cover closes, it does not bother me in the least as it seems to bother others. I cannot recommend until I know everything is functioning as it should. Once it is, I will gladly recommend to everyone.

I find the computer easy to use and certainly attractive with excellent resolution. There is some flickering (infrequent) and the it appears very sensitive to motion or light touch as the computer seems to go to and from applications or web sites on its own. These do not present a significant problems however and I enjoy using it. I have not put it through all its paces yet and I have not detached the tablet and really have no need or desire to do this. I do find it hard to gain insight as to accessories such as an external blue ray player, 3D compatibility, etc since information about this is lacking from Microsoft or on the web. In general I like the computer, am using it as a laptop, and would recommend it. I would also add that it appears that Microsoft is pushing upgrades regularly and would suspect that any problems previously reported are being addressed.

I liked the Surface Book quite a lot. It is powerful, fast, and versatile. It seems to be the best of the removable keyboard style 2-in1 laptops. I had two issues with the Surface Book which in the end led me to choose a different 2-in-1 computer, but People who frequently use this in its tablet configuration might look beyond those issues and choose the Surface Book. 1. The back side of the screen got fairly warm after an hour or of use. 2. The price was just too high for me to justify, as someone for whom the removable keyboard wasn't a must-have feature. I ended up with a 13.3" HP Spectre x360 in Ash Silver. I miss the Windows Hello login and unlocking from the Surface Book, but otherwise am enjoying virtually the same specifications and performance for almost exactly half the price of the Surface Book.

Very happy with the Surface Book, nice size, very fast, good battery life, fantastic screen. Microsoft is giving Surface products extra attention and updates have been nearly weekly. A few of these have caused lockups or unexpected shut downs or shortened battery life. MS has pledged to get it right by January 2016. That said, if I hit a problem I reboot which takes about 10 seconds so it really hasn't been much of an issue. Very happy with the Surface Book, very cool machine.

I have used this computer since August of 2016 and I couldn't be happier. I have used the computer for taking notes in classes using the Surface Pen. I took a Windows Server class and this computer was better equipped for that class then the computers we were using. I used the Hyper-V Manager to create a virtual data center with Server 2016 and SQL Server. I also use this computer to play Skyrim on the High detail setting.

I spotted this two-in-one while doing research on laptops to replace one that couldn't run windows 10. This is the most expensive laptop/tablet I've ever purchased but its powerful i7 processor, 16GB RAM, fast 512GB SSD, and dedicated Graphic Card is exactly what I was looking for. There have been a couple of issues with some software not working correctly. The software for my Harmony remote doesn't run/connect properly, and my Garmin Zumo GPS is not recognized as a device when I ahave an SD Card in the card slot. If I take the card out, the GPS connects and is recognize as it should be. Overall this has met or exceeded my expectations. Only four stars due to the issues with the remote and GPS software. If not for that I'd have given five stars.

While pricey, it just works. (After the most recent firmware updates.). It is a bit heavy but the ability to separate the scene for media consumption while traveling is great. The keyboard works well - just the placement of some keys takes getting used to. Overall very happy so far.

Best and most versatile computer I have ever owned or used. Powerful computer and great tablet. in one unit. Runs all my software including Microsoft Office. Great for photoshop. Very good screen resolution and great keyboard feedback. The only negative I could mention is this unit is heavy. Nothing major but not lite like a MacBook Air. Very good battery life ( as much as 12 hours real world use ) in my experience.

I bought this for my wife as a gift as she is working on becoming a Certified Biblical Counselor. She wanted something that was easy to use, versatile and mobile. She mostly uses it as a laptop, but we have used it as a tablet to watch videos and social media and a few other apps. We went for the top of the line because we wanted good performance. No problems at all with wifi. The only drawback so far is that sometimes the touchscreen freezes. The way to get it to work again is to turn off the power and turn it back on again. It comes back to where we left it, so not a big problem. We are new to Windows 10 but not a big learning curve. Some apps are not yet available but not a deal breaker.

This is a great laptop for a photographer. Photoshop looks great on this device. With the screen being 2:3 (like a DSLR camera picture) instead of 16:9 it means less scrolling. There are a few bugs with the drivers that Microsoft is going to fix with driver updates.

I had a Surface Pro 3 which I really liked but there were several work related programs and apps that would not work on it. I have had this machine for 3 days and I am just blown away by the performance. Every one of my employers programs and apps are working flawlessly. I am very happy with this laptop.

Having to replace a laptop that should have lasted much longer, I looked for the latest in Ultrabooks. Seeing the offerings of other brands and the Surface Book, the Surface Book won out. Capabilities are awesome. My only complaint so far would be the price. It could have been priced somewhat lower. Beyond that, after almost a month of use, nothing has disappointed me.
