    Beast

This machine is a beast, I come from using only loaded top of the line machines and this measures up as one of the best performance machines I've ever used. No its not a dedicated gaming machine but it can handle some seriously detailed games. The only thing that it doesnt have is built in gps to use with the maps app. A little bit of a disappointment but by no means a reason not to get this machine. That is easily fixed with an external usb gps. The SSD is amazing 10 second bootup times and instant load on almost everything. If your looking into a slim tablet/laptop/convertible that can handle the most intensive of all tasks I suggest looking into this machine.

Exceeds expectations as a laptop and a tablet

My Surface Book is fantastic. I use it as a laptop with Chrome for email, the online newspaper, and for creating documents, editing pictures, etc. I use it as a tablet with Edge to follow tech websites like CNET, Engadget, PCmag, AVScience Forum, and ZDnet, and for casual browsing. My email and online newspaper work best using Chrome in laptop mode. For all other websites, I use it as a tablet with Edge which is reported to conserve battery better than Chrome. Also, in tablet mode, it uses the whole screen for easier reading. The hardware build, and fit and finish are superb. As a laptop, it's not heavy, and the tablet is very light and nice and big. The screen is lovely and responsive to the touch. The keyboard has a very comfortable feel, backlit keys are handy, and the trackpad is smooth and accurate. The machine is crazy fast. It boots up and shuts down in 10 seconds. Downloading large files is instantaneous. Coming from Windows 7, I had to learn Windows 10, but it's really very easy to use. Initially the screen release was a little tight, but now it's easy to remove. Once I powered it down inadvertently by pressing the power button on the top left. I have never run out of either battery. Page scrolling can cease if I zoom the screen up too much on certain websites. I've found the limiting Zoom % setting for each and don't exceed it. The core i7 has more power than I need, but it was a gift. And it's nice, for once, knowing what a top of the line machine can do.

love the system but a little buggy

I love it's portability and its ease of use, the keyboard is awesome and the screen is gorgeous, it has a lot of new functions but of course there are some issues which I think its now "fixed" with the latest update that I got yesterday. Some of the bugs was when on standby it would the system would get hot and when I wake it the system would bluescreen. I have not seen this that much but it happened 3 times since i got the system about a month ago. Other than that its very fast and when MS fixes the bugs I know it will be an awesome machine. Oh yeah, one more thing, when using it as a tablet it only lasts about 2.5 hours depending on how bright you have it, I use it more as a laptop though so it does not bother me.

I liked the Surface Book. Setup was problem-free. Performance was great. Removable and reversible clipboard is brilliant. Battery life was long. My biggest issue was how hot the tablet portion got after an hour or more of video watching. It is also difficult to open one-handed, and it's a little tip heavy when using it on one's lap. The biggest drawback for me was its cost.

    Meets Expectations

The Surface Book met just about every expectation I had for it. I haven't yet tried the tablet or other configurations besides the basic "laptop" setup. Laptop mode is why I bought it and the other "positions" and usage scenarios are just nice to have extras for me. I haven't experienced any of the video/graphic chip issues that other reviewers mentioned. That could be because I didn't purchase in the first wave and updates might have alleviated the issue. The only issue with the machine is that is seems to use battery while shut down and closed up. This is after a complete shutdown, so not sure why this happens and I'm hoping the next firmware update settles the problem. Overall, I'm more than satisfied with the purchase.

Great for professionals! I use mine to DJ, use Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro and downloading movies and music. I use mine every day I love drawing with the pen plus I have extra tips to get that precise feel and look to it. This machine is beautiful and grabs everyone's attention everywhere I go. I highly recommend anyone who has thought about buying a Mac to check this out. Higher Resolution, Thinner, Lighter, Better Cameras, Touch Screen and it comes apart?! You would have to be a fool to skip out on this piece of technology. Best laptop out there in my opinion

Solid performance on this model. Does all my business, plays my games, and miracasts to my smart TV. Good battery life and great keyboard/touchpad. Cons: 1. paying for the form factor 2. HUGE! no power on the tablet portion (can't charge) 3. HUGE! no ports on the tablet portion The form factor on the Surface Pro 4 is much better. I would rather have the power and ports located on the tablet portion instead of the keyboard portion of the device.

I loved my Mac but wanted portability and the ability to navigate akin to a PC via Microsoft OS. This is like a MacBook offering the portability of a tablet with capabilities of a PC, a winner!

Overall this is a very good & powerful laptop. There are some quirks with the detaching the Surface Pad & reconnecting it which I'm sure they will fix in the next model. The screen is very small, but I knew that going in & bought a large monitor to connect to while at my desk. The only thing I do not like is the missing numbers keypad. In my line of work, I need it badly. So I bought one to connect via USB while at my desk. I'm mostly happy with it.

Nice size, light weight. Nice that you can detach the screen. Price was more than I wanted to pay but for the size of GB and memory shouldn't have to upgrade for a long time!

Bought as a laptop replace (Dell) and although it was nice I did miss having a docking station and network port. (Wifi only) Speed was good and screen quality was perfect.

The Microsoft Surface 2 in 1 13.5 inch touch screen laptop meets the needs for a power user who requires the portability of a tablet. Its only downfall would be not having the choice of apps that other os tablets offer.

Let me start off by saying I was never really a fan of Microsoft.. I used it for gaming here and there but I never really enjoyed the experience they offered. I always enjoyed the simple apple experience. Ever since getting this I have been astonished by the experience it has provided for me. Yes, the price point may be a little high, but you are paying for a high-end laptop. The only reason I am writing this review is because I never believed I would switch from my MacBook pro. Overall, don't read the negative reviews this computer is great. People just expect something perfect because of the price. In society today perfect does not exist.. deal with it. If you have the extra cash on the side go out and get it! You won't be disappointed!

This is the best notebook I have owned. It is fast and the ability to remove the screen and have a tablet or rotate it for a a bit heavier tablet with high resolution. It is a bit expensive, but worth it.

I had a surface 3 tablet before this and there is no comparison. It is light and easy to carry, extremely fast, and comfortable to the touch. I love that you can remove the screen and use it as a tablet. It recognizes the stylus easily. I use photoshop and all the Adobe products and this is perfect for it. It's pricey but worth every penny! So glad Zi bought it!

if quality is a top priority, this is about as good as it gets with windows. great trackpad and keyboard, and solid performance. tablet ability is very nice, but the back does get fairly hot, especially while charging. overall a bit expensive, but suits a special usecase
