The laptop is well designed and has many intuitive operations that lacked a in PC compared to a Mac. The detachable tablet is really nice and is a good size. Wish there was a bit more instructions on some of the interface with the pen. Overall a good looking computer with excellent performance.

I've been an Apple/Mac user for quite some time. But I needed a PC, this was the answer. About as Mac-like without being a Mac. Lovely design. Great keyboard.

Light and powerful and flexible...good for heavy sketchup, revit, and photoshop. Could be bigger but I have Cintique for that. A very functional object.

Was wondering whether to get Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book. Either would have been fantastic. Still finding new and excellent things about this product.

I bought the high end version of the Surface Book. It worked well except occasionally it 1) stopped, 2) would not start, 3) said I was out of memory (16gb, 512 SSD)? Too expensive to not work well. I didn't find the pen useful.

It has the potential to be awesome and a game changer but a bunch of anoying bugs are standing in the way. Presumably Microsoft will fix them at some point and it'll live up to its potential, but right now it's greatly underperforming.

still a rating in progress - wireless issues

So i'm on my second surface book. first one had horrible wireless connection issues. This one is much better with wireless. It has already locked up on me once, not sure why. Everything else about this laptop is pretty good. Still think it is overpriced. The other selling point for me for this book is the comfortable keyboard. Although detaching the screen is a nice option, I think I would actually rather have the 180 screen. In fact when some people pick up the laptop, people are so used to that flexibility I have to warn them, hey this one doesn't go all the way back. Of course for my personal preference I would have wanted the screen to go back about another 5-10 degrees. The low rating is because of the wireless issues and who knows what other bugs might pop up.

The unit performs well (i7 version) and runs smoothly for most tasks. Battery life is a little less than advertised, but driver version and installed software make an impact on these and will rarely match a stock unit. The screen h/w ratio is a 3:2 size and not a 16:9 or 16:10 as many tablets and affords a bit of additional screen real estate to use.

My top two choices were between a Microsoft Surface Book and a MAC. A family friend encouraged me go into a retailer and give the Surface Book a test drive. Prior to her promoting the product I hadn't had much exposure to the machine. In fact, I basically had my mind made up on a MAC. Today I'm here to share just a couple opinions and hopefully help validate any interest you have in the Surface Book (I made the change and you can too). The Surface is flexible. It still new to me and amazes me how it will adapt to various classes. In a couple classes we are downloading power points. The Surface allows me to download a presentation and then use the touch screen to make notes in real time using a pen, or my index finger. The ability to write directly onto a power point presentation or study guides for an exam is a very cool feature. The touchscreen itself has made note taking easier to manage. This technology became a major draw when comparing systems. And, as for the artwork I do for class and for personal projects, the Surface Book doesn't take a backseat to any other machine. The screen resolution is amazing too! This is a definite 'must see' before you make your next purchase. I encourage you to take one for a test drive yourself.

I purchased the Surface after seeing my husband's new Surface work much more efficiently than the new laptop I had just purchased. I returned my new computer. The Surface handles my needs perfectly as I teach college courses online. The Internet connection at my home is often inconsistent but this is not a problem for the Surface. Highly recommended.

Terrific laptop. Easy set-up, fast, light, great keyboard. Love the versatility of using it as a laptop or tablet. Downsides: occasional unexplainable freezes;quirky removal of screen to use as tablet; shorter battery life than expected; runs hotter than expected

Microsoft really did an outstanding job with this machine. The only issue I have had is the keyboard stopped responding in the middle of a meeting. I undocked the tablet and reseated, problem solved. Other than this issue that has happened only once since I purchased it, all is good. Fast, screen is clear and bright, and battery is excellent.

Pros: Design, display, portability, full versions of apps in tablet mode Cons: HD could be faster, but not bad Switched from Apple MacBook Pro & iPad Pro. Even though the iPad Pencil is better at drawings, the Surface Pen is very good. Having full versions of apps for laptop and tablet modes is big plus, increasing productivity.

Love my SB but has its issues. - display. Exchanged 3x due to back light bleed. My 3rd exchange also has back light bleed. Received a warning that the 3rd exchange was the last BB would honor - heat. i7 512 model runs a bit hotter than the i5 for obvious reasons but in turns runs faster. If your in a warm environment with no ac, you definitely notice how hot it gets even when just surfing the Web or using it to remote to other workstations -price. One of the most expensive windows phone out there. If the price was better in line with its competitors it would sell better. Overall I needed a Windows 10 pro PC that was more than a laptop and at this time this is the best option.

This is the best cross breed on the market. It's a great tablet and a great laptop. I needed power and graphics and got both, as well as a detachable tablet. The pen is very good and has changed how I capture data. This is the way I plan on equipping my workforce as we are a Windows shop and the learning curve is about zero.
