One of the greatest controller designs yet

I am very glad Microsoft didn't change the successful controller formula they came up with many years ago. This is a fantastic controller. It feels like a tiny bit of a better fit in my hands than the 360 controller, and I like the new ridges on the thumb sticks. There were only two things I ever really thought they needed to change from the 360 controller, and they did both: Fix the terrible D-pad (it is much better now), and move the guide/dashboard button. I like how it is higher up on the controller now so you won't ever accidentally hit it when going for the start/back buttons. Speaking of which, I guess that's my only very minor complaint. They should have stuck with "Start" and "Back" as the names for those two center buttons. It sounds a lot less cool to read "Press the menu button to begin" on the Killer Instinct main screen, rather than the classic "Press Start". But, not a big deal. The rechargeable batteries seem a little smaller than the Xbox 360 ones, but worked great all through my Xbox One's launch night. The only very minor downside is it takes a few seconds longer to swap these batteries out than it did to swap out an Xbox 360 battery, but I like the tradeoff of having the Xbox One controller be slimmer and sleeker since there isn't a big battery jutting out the back. The charging cable is sufficiently long to play from my couch (8 feet away from my TV). Took an hour or so for the initial charging to finish from whatever capacity percentage these come from the factory. Don't bother with the third-party junk batteries. While the cable is just a basic micro USB and interchangeable, off-brand rechargeable batteries are rarely worth bothering with for the small difference in price.

Had to replace 6 controllers in 2 months.

I bought the controllers from 3 different Best Buy stores in the Rhode Island/Massachusetts area. Each controller I bought, I made sure to purchase a warranty. The first controller was fine for about 1 month until the cable would not connect with the controller. The second controller had a sticky left trigger. The third controller ALSO had a sticky right trigger so I took it back 2 days later. The fourth controller's select button was sticky so I took that one back the following week. The fifth controller was a NIGHTMARE. By this time, the customer service guy in the Attleboro, MA location knows who I am & is surprised I'm back in again. I didnt even make it out of the Best Buy parking lot with the 5th one due to a massively stuck left trigger. I was stunned. I walked right back in the store, with the same guy who helped me 3 times now, & he was more stunned than I was. He even brought over another guy who remembered me from the week before & he was shocked as well. So I picked up the 6th one there, we opened it to examine & all the buttons & triggers felt fine, other than a giant scratch right down the middle of the controller, but I took it anyways. I wasn't about to go through this again. So I'm now on my 6th controller & I have to MASH the select button to open maps, etc. I have kept all of my receipts for proof. I have spent almost $50 in warranties, not to mention the extreme level of inconvenience & complete waste of all of our time.

Very good upgrade to the 360 controller

I use this solely as a controller for my gaming PC in my living room, as an upgrade for the older Xbox 360 controller that I have. There is nothing overly new about the controller for the most part, all the buttons are in the same places, but they seem to have made slight tweaks to make the controller more comfortable to use. The trigger and bumper buttons have been shaped to be easier to use; they feel like they are easier to switch between if you are like me and use your index fingers to switch between them. Joysticks have a raised ring around the edge that I like; it feels like you have slightly better control with them. As far as I know, the USB connection is necessary for playing on PC, and the provided cable is long enough for my space. It's micro USB, so if it's short for you, at the very least you can get a USB extender cable relatively easily. Additionally, all PC games that recognized 360 controllers will recognize this controller with no additional issues. I liked the controller, but I wouldn't consider this a must by if you have a 360 controller and currently enjoy everything about it. If however, you are like me and need a few more controllers for couch co-op for your HTPC, or your 360 controller was spiked into the ground after a bad Rocket League match and no longer works, then definitely consider this controller.

Best Controller, however with minor caveats

5 stars, best controllers around. Everybody already knows this FACT. Except that proprietary, tiny, little, easily bendable/breakable connector needs an update. It sometimes tells me "Reconnect Your Controller", mid-game. Also is difficult to plug & remove after several uses. My 2 minor issues/complaints: 1. These do not last as long as the older models, including the XBox 360 controllers. The left thumb stick seems to become somewhat loose & less sensitive within just a month, whereas the original that came with the console took 3-4 months to "feel" degraded. I play a LOT of Call Of Duty, so I do wear them down! 2. Need. Wired. Where is the (official) WIRED controller?!? You can see and FEEL the "lag" when going wireless. Some say plugging the controllers in via the USB adapter cord is the "same as wireless", but if we're being honest, it is NOT the same. When I bought an XBox 360 WIRED controller, it worked so good, I never went back! Over the years, I have noticed a difference between these standard, black, plain controllers, versus the specially designed "theme" controllers, in that these definitely last longer. The fancy versions look great, but that degraded feeling kicks in what seems like within the first week. This is the best... for now. GOOD: It's great, almost perfect. BAD: That tiny connector. Wears fast. Not as good as wired.

Great controller, charging it a bit wonky

I've used Microsoft's XBox 360 controllers and fortunately, their XBox One controllers are just as, if not, better. Responsive, comfortable even after playing for hours. I haven't timed how long a full charge on the battery lasts but I've gone through 3-4 play sessions (each about 2-4 hours long) before I get hit with the low battery warning. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but I've had some battery issues. I'll have the cable plugged in and sometimes, the battery won't charge, as if the battery wasn't there. Other times, it charges fine but after I power up the system and controller, I won't get any response from the buttons, sticks or D-pad. To fix this, I've had to remove the battery, wait a few seconds, put the battery back in, and then power on the controller. Then the controller finally responds. It's a bit annoying but I'll take this first world problem any day. =)

    Need an Extra Controller?

So if you need an extra controller, your options are pretty limited and might as well get this one. My only complaint is that the "power" button (the xbox logo that is used to turn on the controller/system) ALWAYS statys on. There is no way to disable it and that is all Microsoft's fault. I have a rather decent theater set up (full dark if wanted) and when I play, I keep the lights as low as possible, yet here is this little lighthouse of a light that I am forced to deal with. I noticed that after playing the One for about a month that I was getting ocular fatigue (never had that with the 360). I couldn't figure it out at first but then I took some electrical tape and covered the light....Viola, no more fatigue. So if can hold off, wait till they release a new controller that addresses this issue.....or buy some electrical tape at the same time.

This new controller takes what was great with the old 360 controller and improves on it without drastically changing what was already great. The triggers are smooth, grip is comfortable and the new additional rumblers add another dimension (especially on a game like forza 5). Only negatives I really have is that microsoft needs to add a battery status indicator of some kind. There is no longer the flashing ring like on the 360 so when the battery dies, it dies without any warning. This can be annoying at times when you think that maybe it just when to sleep from not being used say when watching a video app. The play and charge kit part is great and seems to charge the battery fairly quick. I would like to see an external quick charge kit though like they have for the 360 so that i don't have to plug into my xbox one to charge it.

With more than 40 improvements to the Xbox 360 controller, this Xbox One wireless controller helps you stay in complete control of the gaming action. Immerse yourself in the virtual world thanks to fingertip feedback on the Impulse Triggers, which allows you to feel every in-game weapon, crash and jolt, and perform sweeping and directional movements flawlessly with the newly designed D-pad. Experience a natural, comfortable hold thanks to the grips and contours of this controller that are designed to fit a wide range of hand sizes, and ensure that you never run out of juice with the included Play & Charge Kit, which allows you to charge the controller while you are gaming, so you don't miss a second of the action. The best controller thus far

This remote went along with the Xbox one connect purchase I made on Thanksgiving day. And boy was I happy that it did. When my boys got everything set up and were looking at the remotes they told me how happy they were that I got them the extra remote. I have to laugh at them because they love to play video games and play video games on everything from a Wii to a PlayStation to the Xbox. They kept talking about the feel of the remote and how cool it was to handle it. So much so that they gave it to me and told me mom you need to feel this hold it isn't it neat. I am not quite sure what they're talking about as I don't play video games but they seem to know their stuff and were ecstatic about this remote.

Solid additional controller that feels great in your hands with an adequately long recharge cable that once plugged in turns the controller into a precision wired controller until unplugged again. The charge cable has a charge indicator light on it to let you know if it's charging or done charging and solidly holds into the controllers micro-USB port and Xbox One's USB port. Additionally since the charge cable is essentially just a long Micro-USB cable, you can also charge your phone with it. (That is if your phone uses a Micro-USB connector. In example, most Android devices use it.) If used for this the indicator light on the cable will not turn on, but that is to be expected.

The controller is like any other controller. The battery is a typical rechargeable battery. For that alone i would give it 4 stars. It's nice not running through a bunch of AA batteries. The bad thing is the cord for charging. It's nice and long, and for charging, it more or less does it's job. For whatever reason, though, my headphones pick up buzzing when the cord is plugged in. My friends can also hear the buzzing. I'm not sure why that is, but it certainly doesn't help the package deal at all...I would recommend sticking with a regular controller and a different recharge system...

The wireless controller for Xbox One with the charge kit is pricey but its probably worth buying over the controller without the charge kit because it saves a lot of money on batteries in the long run. I bought this as my second controller with the console only coming with one. I currently use this controller the most because I haven't sprung for a charge kit for the original controller yet. The controller works great as intended. As an owner of a 360...I don't really understand why they don't enable you to use 360 controllers with the Xbox since there isn't much different. Its obvious that its just to make money.

    Good controller questionable battery design

Controller and charger are good but battery pack is using a proprietary battery which is more expensive to replace and shouldn't be necessary with this expensive of a controller. Charging works fine; although, under heavier gaming, battery didn't last any better than a good quality double A set of batteries like what is in the separate cheaper wireless kit. If proprietary battery isn't an issue then this is a good kit as it includes both but overall costs will be higher long term with it. The cable is long enough in the kit as well so you don't have to be sitting right on top of the console to use it.

The XBOX One controller is near perfect in design. It improves upon the 360 design with lots of subtle improvements like the thumbsticks and the isolated, rumble triggers. It feels great in your hands and makes console gaming a pleasure. However, after only a few weeks of mindful, and careful use, it feels like the plastic enclosure is slowly splitting or something. It still works perfectly but perhaps it's all the vibration causing the overall structure to loosen slightly. Get this controller but snag the geek-squad protection which insures your purchase for a good amount of time!

I needed a controller and they only had this option in a 100 mile radius. Did not want the recharable battery because I have a set that I use already wall mounted. When you plug the controller into the usb to charge them I have had issues with various problems from my rumble pack not working on my other controller. If your Xbox is off and you plug these into charge it will turn on your Xbox. Prefer to keep my batteries charged separately from my Xbox because of these minor problems. Also it does not seem to hold a charge as well as my Duracell rechargeable AA batteries.

Great controller for gamers who put in hours at a time. Plays wirelessly and when the battery dies you simply plug it into your Xbox and continue playing as it charges your battery. Cord for the charger is plenty long for comfortable game play. Great product all around. I also got the charging station to charge the controller that comes with the Xbox One. I use my controller that came with the Xbox until the battery dies, and then I switch to the plug and play while it charges on the charging station. Never run into a situation where you cannot play cause your batteries are dead.

So this is not any different than the standard wireless XBOX One controller; it just comes with the rechargeable battery back and a special USB cable for charging via the XBOX (it's got a fancy little light on it to tell you when the charging is done.) It all works well, the only flaw I find is that when I plug headphones into the controller while the USB cable is charging the battery it creates an annoying little feedback hum in the headphones. This noise goes away as soon as the USB cable is removed from the controller.

The traditional Xbox remote goes through AA batteries almost twice a week if used constantly. This device eliminates the need to burn through tons of batteries (which increase the cost constantly) through a one time purchase. All you do is replace the batteries with the rechargeable one and plug in the cable to the Xbox as needed to power up the controller. I only bought one but need to get back to pick up another one for my second remote. I completely love this product and highly recommend it to everyone.

You can't go wrong with this purchase, as you get the standard Xbox One controller, an official Xbox rechargeable battery that precludes having to deal with AA batteries all the time, and a cable to connect to the console so that you can be charging the controller while you play. The only drawback may be the need to be in close proximity to the console itself while you use it due to the length of the cable. I see that as a minor inconvenience, however, compared to the benefit you get.

It's a controller for the XBox One. Nothing special. Well, I guess the included battery pack is kind of special. The price though? Intolerable. Wait for it to go on sale. I broke my old controller (don't ask) and refused to pay retail for a new one... so my XBox One collected dust until I caught these on sale in the store by chance. That's the only reason I picked one up. All in all, it does what it needs to, but there's no reason for the inflated price. Docking a star for that.
