Customers enjoy the Xbox One Media Remote's ease of use, backlight, and comfortable size and design. Many appreciate its good battery life and the pleasant feel and texture. However, some users point out limitations in range and the need for a direct line of sight to the console. The infrared technology and occasional response time delays were also noted as potential drawbacks.

I think this is the best Xbox one controller I was able to purchase because of your reviews on Best Buy. The best thing I can say is it just about controls all of your media and Blu-ray and CDs that we love to watch. And I love when you go to pick it up it lights up right away in the dark making it very easy to use. Wish I would've thought of it. LOL

If you don't want to use a controller to navigate through the Xbox menus or while watching movies and playing streaming apps than this remote has you covered. It has a backlight that lights all the keys up anytime that the remote is touched. It's very comfortable in the hand and most of the bottons can be reached with the thumb. It's made of a black matte rubbery type of plastic. I would give it 5 stars but you have to actually point the remote at the Xbox for it to work. If it worked via Bluetooth or over wifi like the controllers do, than this would be a perfect remote.

I originally bought this remote so that I didn't have to pull my controller out of my entertainment center every time my darling two year old daughter wanted to watch Frozen. However, I use it all the time now. Not only does it work well for watching Blu-Rays, but It can also be used to control your master volume level if you set up the volume control on your Xbox. Plus, it's backlit and lights up as soon as you pick it up. I find myself using it for everything on my Xbox other than when I'm actually playing games. It's really sleek as well and just looks like it belongs with your Xbox.

If you are planning on spending time with your XB1 doing more than playing games, you NEED this remote control. It appears to be pretty well made, sturdy, feels good in the hand. Best feature? It lights the backlight for a few seconds if you wiggle it. Yep. G-sensor I guess. Just pat the couch when you lose it next to you in the dark and it will happily glow so you can find it. Microsoft designers did well on this one! The back side is typical black hard plastic, but the front has a nice grippy rubberish feel to it. Popcorn-buttery or pizza-greasy fingers won't slide around so easily. Button layout is fairly simple and easy to learn. The large round button becomes Pause and Resume when we are running Netflix through the XB1. Neato !
Frankly, we haven't used the Roku 3 at all for Netflix lately. Been using the XB1 for Netflix with this lovely remote. Easier for me to use to navigate menus and apps than a game controller.
Minuses, you say ? It's black, not very reflective. Smaller than most all of our other remotes. Easily lost in a darkened room while gaming/movie watching.
Over all, this is an awesome Must Have accessory to purchase for your XB1.

You pretty much know what you getting just by looking at the picture. I bought this for my girlfriend because I have my tv service running through my xbox and using the regular controller or voice commands just aren't as easy for her. (Never seems to recognize her voice) so the next best thing is having this control to turn on the xbox and easily navigate through the apps, netflix, tv, etc. it does just that quite nicely. This control is very responsive with little or no lag. It is a little larger than I expected pm which is a good thing, it has a little more weight and does not feel cheap by any means. Still, using the one guide is a pain as you can't just type in the channel number since there are no number keys. You must use your existing television control or scroll though channels or favorites. Great remote if you have realistic expectations knowing its use or limitations. If there will be a remote with numbers in the future, I'll ditch this one quickly.

Perfect companion for your XB1. When voice controls may be difficult and you don't want to fool around with a game controller this little guy is the answer. Very well made, all rubberized exterior which feels great in your hand and also provides protection from the inevitable drops that will occur. Also very cool how it automatically lights up when you pick it up. Saved my marriage as now my wife can easily control the Xbox to watch movies and TV. A must have for the family!

since i purchased this remote, i use it for everything. It works great with Netflix and the blu ray player. So far, i have not found any parts apps on the one that i cannot use it for. The remote is comfortable, it lights up when you pick up it to use it, so there is no guessing as to where the buttons are. my remote still has the batteries it came with and i literally use it daily. Highly recommended.

Makes using your xBox One to access Netflix MUCH simpler. Works like a basic TV remote. It does not power itself down like the regular controller does, which is a good thing. In fact it’s buttons all light up when the remote is moved in any way, which is nice when the room is dimly lit. Does everything I need.

Very easy to use, I love the design and the feel (texture) of the remote. My favorite feature is that the remote automatically lights up when you pick it up or move it. All my other remotes only light up when you push a button and by then sometimes it's too late and you find that you have pushed the wrong button.

This is hands down the best media remote out for the Xbox One. Great feel, light, and back lit. My only issue that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that it works with IR reciever in the Xbox, it needs to be pointing directly at the console to work. My Xbox is enclosed in my media cabinet so I have to keep the door open to use it

I wanted to have a remote control to navigate around the xb1 dashboard, and during video/movie playback. the standard game controller works fine, but it tends to auto power down after inactivity which is annoying. I had the equivalent version for x360. the xb1 version looks slick, has low profile buttons, and the backlit buttons light up upon movement of the controller. it requires 2 aaa batteries (included). so far battery life has been good after 2 months of intermittent usage. the only minor negative is that the remote seems a tad bit unresponsive at times. will not know for a while if the automatic backlight adversely affects battery life - it would be nice if that option could be turned off. overall, a nice accessory for the xb1.

This product has been dramatically redesigned for the XBox1 system. It was designed to facilitate watching videos either online or with the Blu-ray player. Battery life is very good. The decrease in size and weight compared to the XBox 360 product is much appreciated. At $24 it is priced right for its value.

Pretty much does what it is supposed to. I use this with an XBOX One that's also connected to a TV Tuner and Kinect, no cable or satellite box. If you have your XBOX already set up to control your TV set it will automatically use those functions (volume, power, mute, etc.) right out of the box. It does seem a little sensitive and needs to be pointing directly at your box most of the time. A couple of times there has been a bit of a delay after a button press but it hasn't happened regularly.
It will control video playback as well as basic navigation around the XBOX menus. It has a button dedicated to OneGuide, which is pretty handy.
Seems pretty well built. It's pretty small and maybe a little more slippery than you might expect. Texture reminds me of a slightly smoother XBOX controller stick. Buttons light up whenever you pick up or move the remote.
All in all pretty basic but seems to get he job done. However you may want to consider some of the slightly cheaper options that might not be quite as well built but do the same things.

No too expensive accessory for those who watch lots of media on the xbox one. Has a nice rubberized grip feel to it, small, and easier to use than the controller. Really just a question of whether you want to spend more for the convenience. Has a nifty auto on lighted button feature that senses movement.

Love it! It is perfect for media apps. A lot easier to handle then the controller. If you have everything hooked up through the One, you don't have to worry about having another controller for volume. Remote does everything you need! The only con is that it is line of sight for it too work.

Picked this up on a whim and glad I did. Had tried to get along with Kinect voice commands, had reprogrammed my Harmony remote to work with Xbox One, but both resulted in frustration. This remote really makes the Xbox One more useful.
Nice style, nice lighted buttons, seamlessly adapts itself to whatever app I'm running, controls the volume of my receiver - it just works. Finally gives me a reason to use the Xbox One Guide over Comcast's guide.
It maybe could use a number pad, but then it would be bigger. This remote does not solve the DVR issue - but that's an Xbox One thing itself, not this remote's fault.
In short - worth picking up.

I purchased this particular remote for my brother, as one of his Christmas gifts, but I have owned this remote myself for well over a year now, and I love it! When I first got it I went almost a year without even touching my XBOX One Controller, as back then I only used my XBOX One for watching Blu-rays and Netflix/VUDU/YouTube/etc.
Nowadays I play Halo 5, so I do use my controller quite a bit, but anytime I'm not playing Halo I am using my XBOX One Media Remote, and I have had no issues with it since I bought it. It's also saved me quite a few charges on my rechargeable batteries, as they last a considerable amount longer in the media remote than they do in the controller. Not to mention the media remote doesn't need to be turned on, even if it's been sitting untouched for awhile, which was my main issue with using the controller for watching movies/TV. By that I mean the fact that after around 15 minutes of inactivity they (normal XBOX controllers) automatically shut off, so if I needed to pause or do anything I would have to wait a few seconds to get it turned back on, which isn't a major plus, but it is nice not to have to do that when I want to quickly pause or rewind something.
Anyways, my brother has been using his media remote for a few months now, and he loves it as well. Also, we both think that one of the best features is the fact that the buttons light up anytime the controller is touched/bumped, which makes it very easy to find which button you are looking for, even in the dark (which is how a lot of people watch movies, myself included).
Oh and the funny thing is, even though I didn't buy my remote from Best Buy the only reason I have it is because of a purchase I made through Best Buy. Because when I bought my most recent (Dell) laptop I received a free $25 gift card to Dell.com, which I used to order the remote for just a few dollars =)

This works great far better than the game controller. I love that it lights up when you pick it up or move it all remotes should have that feature. It could be a little cheaper.
