This game is like a combination of both the games Batman and Assassin's Creed set in the Lord of the Rings world.. There are loads of missions you can do and just the battle system alone had me blown away. Also something I have never seen in any game is the Nemesis System which I enjoy..This is by far my game of the year. I would so recommend this game. Just not to kids though.

This was a Christmas present from my wife and to be honest the first game I received for a long time, (remember Command and Conquer 3?) The game is 5 DVDs and it took 90 minutes to install. At first I thought I would not like the game because of all of the different commands you had to memorize to be proficient. But once I hurdled the learning curve I enjoyed the game a lot. The game is the story of a man, Talion, who's wife and daughter were killed by the Black Hand of Sauron. It isTalion's journey for revenge. He is possessed by a wraith, Celebrimbor. We find out about 1/3 into the game that Celebrimbor played a very important part in the Middle Earth world. (If you have read the Silmarillion you already know who Celebrimbor is). It seems as if the story takes place between The Hobbit and Lord of the Ring. Gollum makes a brief appearance in the game still looking for his precious. This is an over the shoulder slasher game. The graphics of the game were very good. The story kept my interest as well. I usually don't watch the cut out scenes but the ones in Shadow were very good and held my interest. There are plenty of side missions too that will earn you extra XP and gear. The only part that got a little old was when you battled the chiefs and captains. They always talked trash adn their trash talk became repetitive, unfortunately you can't just hit Esc and cancel out of that. One thing I really liked is if you fight a captain or warchief and lost the they will level up making them even harder to kill the next time you see them. The game is very violent, a lot of Orc and Uruk blood and beheadings. It took me about 40 hours to beat the game, but there were still some side missions I will go back to and finish. I think that even if you're not into Middle Earth you will still enjoy the game.

This game is is great. It features an open world and lots of side quests. The quests get repetitive, but they help in getting upgrades for your abilities. Also, the gameplay is similar to that of assassin's Creed and batman arkham series. This game also features the nemesis system. This system makes it so that there are consequences for losing to enemies (they get tougher when you respond, ex. They too get experience from winning). Great game!

....if your computer can hang. Kiss your productivity goodbye. This is a better story than the Hobbit. It does take a decent machine to run it though. The controls are pretty solid, made for a keyboard, but I prefer the xbox controller.

This game has been pretty sweet so far. It's like assassins creed with the sneaking and climbing side of things, as well as the collectables and the map. Then it's like the batman Arkham series with the combat. Throw in Lord of the Rings lore, and you have an amazing game. Also, the Nemesis system is pretty amazing. You can target certain captains and warchiefs, and if they kill you, they gain power and get promoted. You can also send death threats which up your chances of getting better loot, but they get more power and a gang to protect them. Each captain/warchief has their own strengths and weaknesses, and you have to get info from other captains or rescued slaves to get that information. There are also plenty of side achievements as well. Overall, a very polished game. I'm playing on PC (new macpro with windows 8 in bootcamp).

Just incredible for DirectX 12 graphics and wide arena of game play outdoor maps, hard for anyone but Batman series experts, serious levels of one on many enemies. Graphics exceed even Titanfall significantly, definitely sets the graphics standard for the future until release of Batman Arkham Knight apparently. Enjoy the show, and be defeated. Get it if you want to see the best on a NVidia GTX 750 Ti for $150, on the PC, or Xbox One.

If you enjoy Assassin's Creed, stealth, crazy combination moves and kills, and loved the Arkham series and combat, then this game is all that and more! The nemesis system is so incredible that, for the first time ever, I'm playing a game and not even all that interested in the story. The story is really good too though so far, but the nemesis system is a game all on its own!

This title was on sale nationally at Best Buy, however my local stores did not have a copy, which has become more common for PC games recently. Best Buy customer service located a copy for me in another city that I was traveling to the next few days and had it ready for me. The game is great, not a huge LOTR game fan, but this one got better reviews than most.

At first I didn't really want to get his game but it was $20 and I got it less than $20 with my GCU. Really good game with good combat, but it was just short, only took me 24 hours to complete the story and do some side stuff. Great game and I would recommend it to anyone who's into this kind of game.

The game held my attention quite well. It took a little while for me to get into the game really, but once I was I played it straight through. I was able to complete the story and the collectibles in 24 hours of game time, with over half the achievements. The game is not overly challenging, but it is fun. The nemesis system is really what makes the game.

Shadows of Mordor is not your typical roundabout LOTR game. It takes place about 80 years before the time of The Hobbit and pits you against the murderers of your son and wife as you battle your way up through the ranks of the ever evolving and adapting enemy thanks to the nemesis system to get to face the Black Hand of Sauron. You may feel all powerfull when you first start out hacking and slashing your way through his army of orcs, but once you see the death animation you will find out very quickly what once was a trivial encounter with an enemy is now an uphill battle with an arrow in your knee. For every death you have in Mordor your killer will gain power and become a captain, now he will be harder to kill he may sport new weapons or armor or be immune or strengthened to the tactics you used in your previous encounter. There are also power struggles within the game which can happen when a captain holds a feast or a duel. Prevent this and you can shape the outcome of the event and stop them from gaining power but decide to not intervene and saurons army will become bolstered any Captain you eliminate will be replaced with new initiates all at each others throat and your own trying to clamber to the top of the food chain. In the first 15 minutes you will undoubtedly become distracted by side missions and errands and become ingrossed in the game . Ever so often you will stumble upon a main mission and the beauty and poetry that the developers sewed in with ever stitch will shine as this truly unexpected and intricately well designed masterpiece throws you into the barren yet beautiful land of Mordor. I strongly encourage any LOTR fan to check this out it will sate your taste for lore in the original spirit of Tolkien's novels but with a depth and feel that you could never before experience 9.7/10 for me because of a few graphical mishaps that I rarely noticed. These are sure to be patched soon in an upcoming update which will make this game as flawless as it is enjoyable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!.

I hesitated to purchase Shadow Of Mordor because of some of the bad reviews I've seen. But do not listen to the bad reviews. This game looks amazing and runs smoothly. Great storyline. The only thing is there is a bit of a learning curve, and the gameplay can get repetitive at times, but overall changes quickly and keeps you up beat.

After logging 20+ hours on the game I can say It's a great game. The story and characters are well written and missions are always fresh with the nemesis system. While I've spent a lot of time just running around collecting things and fighting orcs, the game has a lot of content even for the story. Expect yourself to be fighting skirmishes even when you could be well off completing missions simply because the gameplay is a lot of fun. With stealth, ranged and sword fighting you will want to try everything when doing missions which is refreshing to not always be limited to one approach.

Forget the idea that this is an AC rip-off. This takes what was great about the AC series and adds to it in every way. I spend hours playing this game without touching the quests. I foresee unlimited playing time. I only wish I bought it on release day/

Great game with gorgeous environments. The fighting stile plays just like Batman Arkam series and the sneaking and crawling system of Assassins creed. The only bad point is that the missions are a bit repetitive and sometimes Orks gang on you on big waves. Over all, a good experience.

The Assassin's Creed series spun out of control a long time ago. Would you like to feel like an invincible swordsman that can take on entire armies alone? Yes - Get this game, No - Do you also hate fun, sunshine, and ice cream? Plus who wants to kill ordinary men one or two at a time when you can kill endless hordes of Uruks. SoM has all the same mechanics (-boats) without any of the insane nonsensical "story". Fun mechanics, decent short story, good voice acting, plenty of collectibles if you need to spend a little more time in the world, doesn't overstay it's welcome or start inducing compulsive eye-rolling.
