Surprisingly enough, it's good and chill

First of all, I want to admit that I am not a Minecraft enthusiast; I am... WAS all the contrary. I still am not much of a fan of this series, but I am now quite impressed about how entertaining this game can truly be. First of all, as you may all know by now, Minecraft's graphics are very, very simple; you are a blocky man in a blocky world, where textures are simple and cartoony. Playing this game for the first time can be extremely confusing, and even more so boring, but if you are lucky enough to have a nephew, like me, who knows the game, you could ask them to teach you how to play, and once you get the gist of what you must do to enjoy the game, then you begin to see certain complexities that add fun and excitement to this game. Music is... well, there's little music here, and it's so relaxing that one could fall asleep, unless you are deep in a mine, finding diamonds and resources to build houses, construct weapons, armor, and food to eat (don't let your character get hungry.). The sound effects are pretty simple too, yet they work. It's a shame they aren't more details, since one constantly gets attacked on the back and it's hard to tell where to turn to defend yourself. Lastly, for a platform, adventure, FPS, RPG, Action RPG, and FPSRPG, etc. gamer like myself, Minecraft is a pretty chill game worth exploring, and enjoying; and if you happen to want more excitement out of the game, then you're in luck. There are many ways in which you can go further into the game to fight powerful bosses, and/or explore dangerous places. Word to the wise, when in fire, bring snow.

    One thing almost kills it...

This game is pretty fun, and it's not too difficult. But occasionally, there are points in which the button prompts pass too quickly and it's easy to die. This wouldn't be a big deal if you re-started relatively close to the point at which you died, but unfortunately the checkpoints in this game are incredibly far apart. When I would die, I would often have to sit through the last ten minutes or more of the game to get back to where I was. For a game that is much more watching than playing, this is an extremely frustrating thing. There were times where I wanted to keep playing, but just couldn't stand to sit through a large portion of the game again that I had just sat through, in the hopes that I would get the button prompts correct when they flashed up there again when I FINALLY got back to the spot that I had died. Granted, most of the prompts in this game give a fair amount of time to react and are pretty forgiving, but certainly not all of them! And that's besides the point anyway. There is no reason that the game should set you back so far if you die, no matter how frequently or infrequently it happens. This killed it for my kids and almost killed it for me too. There were times I turned it off because I had zero desire to sit through the same ten or fifteen minutes for a third time in a row, and then I also had no motivation to turn it back on again later, knowing that was what was waiting for me. Overall, I like the game but again, I absolutely loathed that one thing about it, and despite my interest in other Telltale games, I won't be checking them out, as I assume they will be the same way.

    Portable Minecraft is Worth it

While not the definitive edition of the game, Minecraft of the Switch satiates me in an entirely new way. I spent a while contemplating whether or not it was worth it to re-buy a game I already owned on PC and PS4 (knowing full well that it wouldn't include all of the latest features). I'm happy to say that I don't regret my purchase one bit, and I am surprised by how easy it is to get sucked back into a game I've already sunk countless hours into before, now that I have a proper portable version. The Switch version might be a few updates behind, but being able to play it on-the-go with physical controllers definitely made the purchase more than worth the asking price. In my opinion this is as necessary a title on the Switch as Breath of the Wild or Mario Kart are. I mean, it's Minecraft, but the Switch really changes up how and (most importantly) where you play it.

    The Definitive Version

I have bought Minecraft for pretty much every console that it has been released for, but this is the only version that I have really fully enjoyed (besides PC). Even the Vita version doesn't hold a candle to this edition. I would have gave it 5 stars, but they have removed the mini games such as the battle game. I miss those games from the Wii U version, but apparently you can still play them -- although only through a server with hundreds of people. The game is also kind of unfinished, as they do not allow for custom servers right now but is a promised feature for the future. If you are thinking of getting a Minecraft game and want it portable, this is the version to get.

Even if you already have every other edition of Minecraft on every other console, this is a must-have. While I myself do not play Minecraft, my daughter does. I was hesitant to get her the Nintendo Switch Edition because she already has the PS4 Edition, plus both Story Mode games on the PS4, as well as on her tablet. However, the Nintendo theme packs really seem to add a new depth of mining and crafting or whatever the heck you call it. It seems repetitive, which I guess technically it is, but if you or your kids can't get enough Minecraft and you do not already own it for the Switch, I recommend it.

Granted, my kids are 6,5, and 4 who are playing this game. They may be a little too young to understand how to use and play the game, especially since it is on the Switch. But for me as an adult and have always been tech savvy, this game took quiet some time to get used to. It definitely makes time go by fast and I can see why many would get suck into playing this for hours. It is fun, however be aware of the age group the game is purchased for. Perhaps I should have waited a couple more years for my kids.

It's nice to play this game casually with my sister with splitscreen. This game is cool, but there's not enough variety in survival mode to keep me interested. Playing different minigames on servers is pretty cool. It's also pretty nice that this is the first game on Switch with Xbox Live compability, so you can rack up achievements while being able to play this game on a hybrid. Technically, this is the best version of Minecraft if you don't care about performance!

So far it runs nice on Nintendo Switch. I enjoy being able to have my old maps from the Switch Version in this one, but I still wish we could use maps from other versions as well. The game runs smooth and I haven't noticed many problems, though I didn't try to recover many maps this time around like I did on the Xbox One Bedrock release. If you like Minecraft and want to play with friends on Xbox One, PC, Android, and iOS in the future through crossplay, this may be just what your looking for.

Minecraft it is a great game that you can play for hours alone or with other people. That still remains true with this version. This version finally brings the better together update to the Nintendo Switch. Which means Switch players can now play with Xbox One, PC, and phone minecraft players. It also adds the new market place to the Switch. Which means you can spend some extra money if you want to get cool new texture packs, maps or skins that weren't available in the old version.

My kiddos worked hard this summer making some extra cash helping out around the house. When they had saved enough money to buy a new switch game, they choose this one without hesitation. Since they have purchased it they never let a day go by without playing for at least 30 minutes. They love the ability to create worlds from scratch and use the split screen mode to work together to build various things for their "house." Highly recommend for any creative youngster that wants to have unlimited sand box potential.

Been a while since I played Minecraft, and before I only played it on PC. I love my Switch and thought it would be a perfect place for Minecraft. If you like Minecraft and want to be able to play on the go- this is perfect. It comes with the Super Mario world mash up which is pretty cool, and there are a bunch of additional themed worlds you can purchase. Also comes with several skins- and you can crossplay with players on Xbox and PC (windows only).

This seems like a fun game, but honestly it's a little complex. My 6 year old begged to get this and he likes walking around in the Mario world that is already created, but has no idea how to build or change anything on his own. I'm sure it's too advanced for his age, but I am not real clear on what to do either! I would say this game is good if you have time to invest in learning how to play. It's not a casual play sort of game.

My son (6) wanted this game. I have never played it and know nothing about it other than you have to mine stuff. It's pretty complex to play, you will definitely be going online to figure out how to make different things. It's not my type of game, i wish i would have gotten him the Minecraft story mode instead. I guess if you're into minecraft and know what you're getting, you'll like it though.

I bought this game with the intention of having a nice simple game for long trips as well as the Split Screen capabilities for up to 4 players. Only downfall would be that it can be rather difficult to read menus unless you are playing single player, even on big screens. But if you're looking for a way to play Minecraft without a PC and with the ability to take it on the go, you can't do better than this.

I really wasn't sure if I wanted to buy Minecraft again, we've bought it on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox 1, Android, and IOS. But I finally gave in and got it for the Switch when it was released physically. I'm glad we did. We have multiple docks and multiple switches. It is nice to easily be able to play this game on any TV in the house. It is also nice to be able to use the Switch to play with people on the Xbox1 or any mobile device.

Minecraft is a game that I have enjoyed for years on a few different platforms. The Nintendo Switch version is actually my favorite so far. The Switch Joy Cons and Pro Controller feel great with the controls of Minecraft. The game runs well on the console and I am able to play split screen with my family which is a huge bonus. 5 Star Reccomendation.

This game came highly recommended to us, yet found it very difficult for our daughter to figure out. I even struggled at first. I can only assume that the controls are easier on the PC where the original game was intended. We will give it another go when she is older. The low rating is for the difficulty in the learning curve.

The only downside to buying this game for the Switch is that I noticed that my daughter has been complaining about how slow the game is compared to the PS4 version, which she owns too. IO suppose the Switch can't keep up with the amount of data there his and it slows down a lot. The plus side is that she can now take it everywhere now.

Endless hours of building castles, mansions, caves, or just exploring and mining for crafting materials while surfing an endless world filled with enemies...especially the kind that blow not only you, but the things you build up! I could play for hours and get into many different conversations. This game is wonderful with the right friend group. 5/5 stars

Minecraft is a must! I don'the understand the appeal of it but my kids have mine craft for every game system we own, they say this one is the best one ever. One problem I see is that I had to buy another controller. The game is for up to 4 players but even splitting the switch controller into two did not work for multi player mode. Maybe I missed something or not.
