I love this for my first laptop/notebook. had few hickups at first from lack of knowledge but doing good now. Sounds were not as I had hoped but an external bose took care of that.

This laptop had given me a lot of trouble. While it had impressive specs and handled games well, there was a fatal flaw. If you updated windows at all either your sound card would crash and never work correctly again, the GPU would crash and play games at the lowest resolution, or both would fail. I returned it twice only to have 3 of these fail me. I was instructed that I could take it to MSI but they hadn't had a clear solution on forums I had read. I returned the last one and won't be buying another MSI product, also when trying to register each laptop they weren't recognized at all.

I've had this laptop for about 3 month , I run mainly flight simulators for RC -Boots Very fast with the SSD, -Graphics for gaming are absolutely stunning. -The screen is matte and I don't have un glare problem -Color on the screen is gorgeous and bright. -The color steelseries Keyboard is AWESOME and can be customized to specific color schemes. -The speakers on the front of the laptop are actually quite robust and it could certainly be used in a pinch if you don't have external speakers or headphones. They don't sound tinny and there's even a good amount of bass. -The fan turbo button is a fantastic way to amp up the cooling while playing more graphics-intensive games. The WADS area of the keyboard can get warm, but not uncomfortably so when the fans have been turned on. -HDMI out and supports multiple monitors, which is also really nice. Cons: battery life, won't last more than 60-80 min.

Good laptop; does what I needed

I'm not an expert in laptops so I'll give my best shot at reviewing this laptop. This laptop does everything I needed--gaming performace is good, online streaming is excellent, emails/other common web browsing is excellent, video editing is excellent--overall the product is great. The laptop is fast and looks exactly as described/pictured. I bought it on sale for about $1200. Before, I purchased an Alienware 17r and I like this laptop more than the Alienware. It is also much cheaper compared to Alienware and performs better as well. The game I mainly played on this laptop is League of Legends. I did not give this laptop 5 stars due to the lag spikes I get from LoL. It might be possible the lag spikes were caused by LoL itself, but I am not sure neither as I also get laggy sometimes from simple game apps on Facebook. As mentioned by some reviewers, the mousepad does have a weird painting on it so swiping horizontally might bother some people but I'm not bothered by it. Speakers are not as loud as one might hope, but I'm not picky about sound systems so I am fine with how loud they are currently (as recommended by other reviewers, I uninstalled the nahimic 2 software because I did notice the speakers did not sound as good when I turn the volume up). In conclusion, it was a good bang for my buck.

My old Acer laptop had multiple keys on the keyboard no longer working, the battery would only last a couple hours at best, and its GT540m was not strong enough for much of anything new. So when my tax return came in the computer drooling started... I'll go ahead and just do a pros and cons... PRO: *Comes with M2 SSD and a 1TB HDD. *Backlit keyboard with tons of color options. *GPU can be overclocked with included MSI Dragon Center software. *Can set custom fan profiles to stay cool or quiet. *All air intakes are on the bottom center so you can set this on your lap and not worry about blocking any vents. *All air exhausts are on the back. *It doesn't get uncomfortable hot spots during extended gaming. *Button above keyboard to set all fans to max speed and sound like a jet engine. *2 USB 3 and 1 USB C. *Doesn't scream NEEERRRRDDDDD like some gaming laptops, just looks like a normal high end laptop. CONS *THERE'S ONLY A 15 DAY RETURN PERIOD! BE WARNED! *Bloatware... TONS... took literal hours to remove. I should have just reinstalled Windows. *The M2 SSD is SATA, not PCIE. So speeds are limited to the SATA III 6Gb (~500-600MBps max) *To upgrade/replace the RAM, hard drive, SSD, or battery requires disassembling the entire bottom of the laptop. *You can not upgrade/replace the RAM, hard drive, SSD, or battery without voiding the warranty. The picture of the underside of the laptop on BestBuy doesn't show the "Warranty void if removed" sticker that covers a screw you have to remove to take the cover off. *The speakers... no matter what you do the speakers sound horrible. The only thing you can make better is remove the crackling by uninstalling the audio bloatware. Sound is only equal to a typical smart phone, you can hear it but it doesn't sound good. *Battery life simply web browsing on wifi with everything off or turned down is about 2 hours at best. Battery life gaming might top at an hour. Being my first true gaming laptop, my Acer just being an overpowered "thin & light" I wasn't expected 8+hours no matter what I'm doing. But anything under 4 just web browsing is terrible. I turned bluetooth off, unplugged everything from USB ports, set the fans not to come on unless something got over ~50C, which never happened, had sound off, all bloatware removed... no luck. *The touchpad... is touchy. Some days it works just as good as any other, other days no matter how I adjust the settings it will frequently not recognise being touched. *Do you like to use SpeedFan? Well it disables the touchpad when you open it and the only way to fix it is restart the computer. *You can't see the power, battery, or hard drive lights. *If you're going to waste space including a CD drive, make it a Blu Ray drive not just DVD. I'm sure if I sat here longer I could pick out more that I do and don't like, but I'm pretty certain I listed all the main issues. In the end I spent so long thinking about whether or not I want to take this back and spend a couple hundred more that the return period expired... it's only 15 days! I would have expected the normal 1 month period like every other store but nope. So I'm stuck with it, I'm not exactly mad about that, but I do wish I had the chance to get something better after deciding I did want to get something better. There's just so many flaws... My final vote is I recommend to spend just a little bit more, that's what I'd do if I could. I attached a picture showing the warranty void if removed sticker.

This is a great laptop with mid-level performance. I don't run any intensive games on it, but it has been able to handle any task that I throw at it. Battery life is a bit short, but that is to be expected when a laptop has a dedicated graphics card.

Nice VR ready laptop, enjoy the lighted full keyboard, very good feel on the keys. Plenty of power very fast processor and SSD 250Gb drive with 1TB 7200 HD, no problem at all running video / audio editing programs. Even has a DVD drive, the mouse pad isn't the best feeling, it has a vertical grain that takes a minute to get use to when swiping horizontal. Great looking anti glare screen, on-board speakers sound decent no distortion, if you want more bass better get external speakers. Overall, highly pleased with the MSI

The only bad thing about this laptop is the battery life, it really sucks and the fan is not extremely good. These sacrifices are worth it because this laptop is the lightest gaming laptop you will ever get. The performance on this laptop is amazing as well and does not disappoint. It can handle VR on high settings and my games all run on the highest settings too. Definitely worth the price. It has been over a month and I cannot imagine being without this laptop.

I play a lot of games when I have time and when I don't play, I'm programming. I needed a fast computer that can handle both. I was able to make a VR game for the Oculus on this computer. Powerful and quick. All my games are on High graphics, etc. I get a lot of compliments for the colorful keyboard.

I bought this for my 15 year old son for Christmas. The keyboard is awesome. He can play all of his video games in it. And do all his homework on it too. The graphics is wonderful. The only complaint I have is the speakers are terrible. They sound broke. For $1,300 I though they would be better

I snagged this laptop for $1250 on sale and for the money it was a steal. Overall, it has very good build quality, is quick, and can game quite well. There are a few things one should know before the purchasing - the next tier up does offer a better video card. And chassis, they could have easily used the chassis from the next step up up on this machine which would trim the considerable bulk of the machine down. - they do not allow you to make any hardwaree changes without voiding the warranty- this is archaic, you should be able to swap a drive or add ram without it affecting the warranty - A 256 gig ssd is just not enough big-speed storage, I was able to swap the 1 to spinner with a 512 gig ssd, so kudos to msi for having both an m.2 and sata interface, but since I swapped the drive the warranty is now void. - the msi bloatware really bottlenecks the system, but it is required if you want to adjust you keyboard backlight or use the function keys - the battery life is atrocious, I understand it's a gaming pic, but with the extra bulk of the case, they had plenty of room to install and larger capacity battery -I've tested the system with various Linux flavors and can confirm that all drivers and sleep wake work out of the box with no real futzing around with drivers, but it just eats through battery with Linux installed, even after tuning the system with tools like tlp The bottom line is that for the money, you can get near-desktop level performance on the go, and for $1250 it's priced well.

I did quite a bit of research before buying this laptop, which is to run multiple virtual machines for a software prototype I am working on. The configuration of this laptop was the closest matching my requirement. Two points to mention here - 1) I had to upgrade this to Windows 10 Professional myself, as there was no option to select Windows 10 Pro in the configuration section while ordering the product, as well as in MSI website. Fortunately, I did not have to spend a lot to upgrade to Win 10 Pro. 2) Battery life is really low, even compared to what is published in the specification. The specification of this product states about 3-4 hours but it did not last more than 2 hours when I used it on a flight. If the battery life was even 2 hours 45 minutes, i.e., close to published 3 hours, I would have given it 5 star.

Price for the bundle is amazing Love the graphics card, ssd works fast and overall easy to get started for anything from media, gaming, to school work. The 1 TB space is huge and ive still got a long way to go before filling it up. Downside is nahimic 2... Its horrible... hopefully future gens wont run it unless you guys dont mind THE. CONSTANT. STATIC. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Download something else, adjust the sounds to remove the static, or do what i did for the first few months and play without sound.

I bought this laptop specifically to play The Sims 4 which I have had problems playing on other laptops. This laptop plays the full version seamlessly which is intended to be run on a desktop. I expect this laptop to last for a long time. It's so nice to be able to play from the couch. The battery doesn't last long while gaming but that's to be expected. Even with the extra fan power it feels like it runs hot. Hopefully they are built to last.

This laptop is top notch great specs good build quality and easy to upgrade. The cpu and gpu combo can crank any current game out at awesome rates the speakers are good and the size is great for having a DVD drive. 3gb vs 6gb gpu and amount of time I spend traveling are the only reason I went with the GS63VR otherwise this thing rocks!
